Vasburg Armory is a mini-dungeon located in Melandru's Hope. It contains the Vasburg Armory point of interest.

Getting there[edit]

From Waypoint (map icon).png Jade Gate Waypoint travel southwest to Point of interest (map icon).png Teleri Village, then follow the road north into a cave. Continue deeper into the cave until reaching a large cavern with docks and a river. Search the left-hand (north) wall of the cavern to find the entrance to a small passage. At the end of this path fight Lukas Vasburg until he reaches 50% HP. He will become friendly and activate a teleporter that leads to the mini-dungeon.

Walkthrough[edit]

To complete the dungeon you must reach the final room using several teleporters. Along the way you must find two runestones in order to unlock the chest at the end.

First Room

The first room contains flame traps and a small jumping puzzle. Watch the trap timing to evade three sets of flame traps.

At the end of the room is a small alcove. Turn left and climb up the rubble onto the first platform to begin a jumping puzzle. Jump to the left stone platform, run across the wooden beam, and jump to the next, angled wooden beam to reach the first stone lintel. Hop to the wall on the right and then back on to the second stone lintel, then run up another angled woooden beam. Turn left to climb the wooden stair case, then hop to the wooden platform on the left. Continue across this wooden scaffolding until the final stair that lets you reach the upper stone balcony.

Pick up the Amber Runestone on the ground to your right, then activate the teleporter in the middle of the balcony to travel to the second room.

Second Room

The second room contains poison gas traps and enemies. There are three sets of traps that work similarly to the flame traps of the previous room. The enemies will respawn quickly and often refuse to move off the active traps, so it is best to simply get past them (and the traps) as quickly as possible. Keep an eye out for the Veteran Runestone Keymaster; this enemy must be killed as it drops the required Jade Runestone. It will sometimes spawn in the middle of the traps but will path to (or respawn at) the end of the room as well.

Once you have killed the Keymaster and recovered the second rune, activate the teleporter to go to the chest room.

Final chest room of the mini-dungeon.
Chest Room

In the chest room place the two runes on the pillars to each side of the chest to gain access to the chest. If you have not been hit by any of the traps, then the Slippery as a Fish achievement will be awarded when you open the chest. The teleporter in this final room will return you to the exterior entrance where you initially subdued Lukas Vasburg.

Slippery as a Fish The Echovald Wilds 1Achievement points

  • This achievement is awarded upon opening the final chest. If you've already opened the chest, you can't get the achievement until after the next server reset.
  • One easy way to get it is to collect both runestones and complete the dungeon up to the chest (without opening it), then deploy a Jade Bot Personal Waypoint and exit the dungeon. Re-enter it, use your waypoint, then open the chest.

Reward[edit]

Notes[edit]

  • If Lukas Vasburg is friendly and does nothing but ask "Are you the one that let the emptiness in?", it is impossible to fight him and start the mini-dungeon. Apparently this happens if he was previously killed fully rather than just brought down to 50%.
  • Occasionally the final chest cannot be looted (even after placing both the Amber and Jade runestones on the pillars), even after repeating the puzzle or changing maps - if this occurs, you will have to try another day.
  • Progressing too fast through the puzzle to use the portal may result in being kicked out from the puzzle.
  • Avoid changing maps mid-puzzle completion.

Dialogue[edit]

On meeting Lukas Vasburg in the tunnel to the teleporter
Lukas Vasburg: Are you the one that let the emptiness in?
Lukas Vasburg: Leave this place. Leave!
After subduing Lukas Vasburg at the entrance
Lukas Vasburg: I can't enter the armory on my own, but you... Yes. You can.
Lukas Vasburg: There's a weapon inside. Family heirloom; it will aid the Vasburg family in the fight to come.
Lukas Vasburg: We used runestones to fortify the vault—to keep our enemies out. I can activate them for you.
On entering the first room
Lukas Vasburg: Welcome to the armory.
Lukas Vasburg: You'll need to find another runestone before you can access the weapon. It's here... somewhere.
Lukas Vasburg: And watch out for traps. We were... thorough in our security measures.
On entering the second room
Lukas Vasburg: There they are. Those things, they... they feel wrong.
Lukas Vasburg: ... And yet, they thrive with malice and a thousand lifetimes of pain.
Once you encounter the Runestone Keymaster
Lukas Vasburg: Ah! The beast has the runestone! Quickly! Before they consume it!
On entering the chest room
Lukas Vasburg: I am not bound to the living realm, and yet... those things. The Void. I fear that even I am not safe from its reach.
After opening the chest and receiving the Ancient Kurzick Axe
Lukas Vasburg: This... this will help us end the war. The Vasburgs will thrive. They've survived too long to perish now.
Lukas Vasburg: Thank you. With this axe in the hands of my descendants, we will repel the darkness.
Lukas Vasburg: When this is all done, maybe I'll find Danika... Tell her...
