“Be careful if you go any farther. The jade mechs in the city will kill any who enter. The Kaineng you know was built on the backs of the machines. In this Kaineng, the machines have had a change of heart. The ward sent me to bring some peace to this place. If you can help while you're here, that would mean a great deal.
Jade Mech Habitation Zone 03 is an area in central Skywatch Archipelago. Kaineng City Fractal Research is a book chronicling the Wizards research into what may happen if Kaineng City's jade mechs gained sentience.

- Shun: I've spotted more of those dragon riders flying over the city. Scouts, maybe, but I don't know for sure.
- Masami: Probably with those other outsiders who arrived and started barking orders at us.
- Shun: If they've got those kinds of resources, maybe they can help us. We need more soldiers if we're going to retake the city.
- Masami: Don't get your hopes up. All they seem interested in is recruiting us to fight their battles for them.
- Shun: I guess we have that in common, then. Probably neither of us have much of a choice about it.
- Maki: I guess that's some kind of desert floating in the distance over there. I wonder how it got here. Or how we did...
- Jang-Sik: It's better not to think about it. Whatever is really going on here is too horrible to contemplate.
- Maki: But don't you want to see what's over there? To understand? Without that, what keeps you going?
- Jang-Sik: Right now, it's enough that you're still here, Maki. That you survived.
- Jang-Sik: If we can find a way to cross, we'll go see the desert, okay? I promise.
- Captain Tokiko: What's the situation with the naga, Keiji? Were you able to figure anything out?
- Scout Keiji: Well, they've never liked us, but this is more serious. They seem to be preparing for an extended conflict.
- Captain Tokiko: Like an attack on the encampments?
- Scout Keiji: Hard to say, but they've certainly got enough of them to do it, and they've advanced from their previous positions.
- Captain Tokiko: Dammit! Why is this happening now? Make sure the refugees are ready to move and every available soldier is armed.
- Captain Tokiko: I'd like to avoid an extra war if possible, but it may not be up to us.

- <Announcement>: Warning to all organics: you are not allowed in Kaineng City. You will be terminated on sight. Any organics that have not left the city may report to any service location for termination and upcycling.
