- Are you ready to continue?
- Let's do this!
- I need a moment.
- After completing Open Skies: On Wings and a Prayer
- [The Writings of the Last Spearmarshal are available for study.]
- [Read volume 1.]
- My father loved Elona's history and culture. When I visited him in the great library as a little girl, I'd run to the history stacks first, and I'd usually find him there.
- Read on.
- In his stories of the old days, he compared Elona to a flower. When he was young, it was in full bloom. But it first began as a single seed—a seed in a vast desert.
- Read on.
- To grow, it needed care. The Sunspears were the gardeners—clearing the weeds, removing the pests, allowing the blossom to flourish.
- Read on.
- Now, however, I wonder if they were more than that. To extend his metaphor, were the Sunspears not also the soil, the rain, and the sun?
- [Read volume 2.]
- Reflecting on my life with the Sunspears, I have to marvel at how my views have changed. As a child, I saw them as heroes sprung to life from a storybook page.
- Read on.
- As an old woman, I see them for what they truly are: men and women, full of potential to do great good or harm. Shepherds, tending to the flock of humankind.
- Read on.
- Some find that metaphor offensive, claiming it implies the Sunspears consider themselves above everyone else, and the rest are just sheep. But that's far from the case.
- Read on.
- In all the years I served, I never knew a single Sunspear who looked down on those he or she swore to defend. We only want to keep our people safe from harm.
- Read on.
- It breaks my heart that recent events have poisoned people against their longtime protectors, and the latest corruption now turns the Sunspears on themselves.
- [Read volume 3.]
- Since the time of the Scarab Plague, the Sunspears have defended Elona. They are allied to all, so when a crisis arises, no false friendships or misguided loyalties will stay their swords.
- Read on.
- When I was young, the Warmarshal of Kourna, Varesh Ossa, orchestrated such a crisis. She led her people to war, mobilizing the largest army in Elona.
- Read on.
- No other nation dared oppose her. If not for the Sunspears, she would have plunged the world into darkness forever.
- Read on.
- This is the necessary role of the Sunspears. Beholden to no one person, dedicated to the people as a whole, they have an obligation to oppose any tyrant.
- Read on.
- They are the true defenders of life and liberty, and their light must not be lost from this world!
- [Read volume 4.]
- Today, our king—our conqueror—feeds us lies and strikes us down. Those who speak against him are silenced. Those who bend the knee are richly rewarded.
- Read on.
- The Sunspears try to resist, but they are only as strong as the people they protect. The armies of Istan and Kourna are no match for the lich's endless undead.
- Read on.
- The Sunspears are spread thin. Are they to blame? No, the fault lies within all of us. We put too much hope in heroes and did not do enough ourselves.
- Read on.
- But heroes fall, and few are brave enough to take their place. We resign ourselves to fate, never realizing it is our responsibility to take charge of the future.
- [Read volume 5.]
- A single despot has managed to diminish confidence in the Sunspears. Joko has shaken the people's faith in the one group meant to safeguard them from the very threat he represents.
- Read on.
- Palawa Joko is succeeding where others failed, but it is not because of the might of his army or the strength of his magic. He is striking at Elona's heart.
- Read on.
- As our people are turned against each other, and our defenders are no longer trusted or respected, Joko is guiding us to destroy ourselves.
- Read on.
- This is why I have committed myself to this crusade against him. Words are weapons anyone can wield. If he can use them to poison us, we can use them to fight back.
- Read on.
- I will speak for the people when they dare not. I will speak for the Sunspears when they cannot. I will fight until my voice is hoarse and my pen runs dry. We will take Elona back!

The Writings of the Last Spearmarshal[edit]
- Note: The text below is presented here in a reformatted form for readability's sake.
Volume 1[edit]
My father loved Elona's history and culture. When I visited him in the great library as a little girl, I'd run to the history stacks first, and I'd usually find him there.
In his stories of the old days, he compared Elona to a flower. When he was young, it was in full bloom. But it first began as a single seed—a seed in a vast desert.
To grow, it needed care. The Sunspears were the gardeners—clearing the weeds, removing the pests, allowing the blossom to flourish. Now, however, I wonder if they were more than that. To extend his metaphor, were the Sunspears not also the soil, the rain, and the sun?
Volume 2[edit]
Reflecting on my life with the Sunspears, I have to marvel at how my views have changed. As a child, I saw them as heroes sprung to life from a storybook page. As an old woman, I see them for what they truly are: men and women, full of potential to do great good or harm. Shepherds, tending to the flock of humankind.
Some find that metaphor offensive, claiming it implies the Sunspears consider themselves above everyone else, and the rest are just sheep. But that's far from the case.
In all the years I served, I never knew a single Sunspear who looked down on those he or she swore to defend. We only want to keep our people safe from harm.
It breaks my heart that recent events have poisoned people against their longtime protectors, and the latest corruption now turns the Sunspears on themselves.
Volume 3[edit]
Since the time of the Scarab Plague, the Sunspears have defended Elona. They are allied to all, so when a crisis arises, no false friendships or misguided loyalties will stay their swords.
When I was young, the Warmarshal of Kourna, Varesh Ossa, orchestrated such a crisis. She led her people to war, mobilizing the largest army in Elona.
No other nation dared oppose her. If not for the Sunspears, she would have plunged the world into darkness forever.
This is the necessary role of the Sunspears. Beholden to no one person, dedicated to the people as a whole, they have an obligation to oppose any tyrant.
They are the true defenders of life and liberty, and their light must not be lost from this world!
Volume 4[edit]
Today, our king—our conqueror—feeds us lies and strikes us down. Those who speak against him are silenced. Those who bend the knee are richly rewarded.
The Sunspears try to resist, but they are only as strong as the people they protect. The armies of Istan and Kourna are no match for the lich's endless undead.
The Sunspears are spread thin. Are they to blame? No, the fault lies within all of us. We put too much hope in heroes and did not do enough ourselves.
But heroes fall, and few are brave enough to take their place. We resign ourselves to fate, never realizing it is our responsibility to take charge of the future.
Volume 5[edit]
A single despot has managed to diminish confidence in the Sunspears. Joko has shaken the people's faith in the one group meant to safeguard them from the very threat he represents.
Palawa Joko is succeeding where others failed, but it is not because of the might of his army or the strength of his magic. He is striking at Elona's heart.
As our people are turned against each other, and our defenders are no longer trusted or respected, Joko is guiding us to destroy ourselves.
This is why I have committed myself to this crusade against him. Words are weapons anyone can wield. If he can use them to poison us, we can use them to fight back.
I will speak for the people when they dare not. I will speak for the Sunspears when they cannot. I will fight until my voice is hoarse and my pen runs dry. We will take Elona back!
Volume 6[edit]
Joko's armies have dammed streams and rivers, burned fields, and salted the earth. In many places, the common folk are starving or dying of thirst.
His minions post bounties promising gold, titles, or food in exchange for the whereabouts of Sunspears and their allies. His people are desperate enough to listen.

Without the Sunspears, we are lost. They are our last hope. If you dare not help, then please do not hinder. But if you can help, I beg you to join the fight!
Volume 7[edit]
My father's library is no more. Palawa Joko's forces attacked the Halls of Chokhin, putting every tome and scroll to the torch. It's all gone.
