Source for the map shortcut?--AdventurerPotatoe - 10:11, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- [1] -- Aspectacle 11:19, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Messy edit to update for the time being. Note that resource nodes (like a lumber icon), feat chests, and dead players have been seen visible on the compass view but they're unmentioned as of this edit to avoid being hasty. Tangentially, will map drawing actually be a function? The linked UV interview ties that function as a GW1 carryover, which is essentially a compass reference and not a map reference. However, with the lack of Extended Experience information so far, actual 'overland map' interaction might be in. I've changed the wording as such until further information. Map icons[edit]
As of now we have tango icons for skill challenges, and in-game icons for everything else. That is because skill challenge utilizes skill point icon that is used in other places too, like skill infoboxes, where tango style is appropriate. Now, which do you think is better: to make a separate icon for skill challenge, or to make tango versions of other icons? Alfa-R 11:06, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Vistas[edit]
Someone should add Vista's to the map :) 82.95.85.186 12:21, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
- We can't until next Friday. —Dr Ishmael 15:49, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Depth?[edit]
Shall it say that the map in on several layer(depth). The 4 layers(like in BWE3)?213.114.125.246 08:31, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- Depth seems to vary depending on which zone you're in. For instance, the Black Citadel has only one layer while the Plains of Ashford have 3. --Rognik 13:17, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Personal Story Icon[edit]
How come there's no mention of the personal story icon appearing on the maps? It's a distinct icon, identical to the quest tracker from GW1, and appears on both the radar and the world map. It will point to either the nearest zone change portal or the spot where the story gets activated.--Rognik 13:21, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Google custom map?[edit]
Could it be an idea to implement a Google map feature? With full interactive support, just as the Elder Scrolls wiki offers (just an example)?
I'm sure this would require a lot of work(?), but once the layout is in place, we wouldn't have to spend time to add map screenshots - and it would open a world of new interactive opportunities. ---- Titus The Third 11:40, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Ehm.. like this! Open for everyone to add and edit details, and possible to add a link to the Wiki / or from Wiki to specific location. It's all there. Could this map perhaps be implemented as a standard reference for the official wiki? ...by adding "show on map" options to the various Wiki articles? ---- Titus The Third 11:57, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Fully explored map?[edit]
Why isn't there a fully explored map image on the map page? The gw1 wiki had a much better maps page with fully explored maps for a good chunk of the game. I know that individual zones have fully explored maps on their pages, but why don't we have a fully explored map for all of Tyria on the main map page? --Souldonkey (talk) 16:19, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Added though it's outdated (lacks Silverwastes). It uses the background of that_shaman's historical maps. Konig 17:57, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2015/10/01[edit]
Sorry, for another post....I came to this page looking for the little option/legend in the lower left-hand corner of the open World Map. Maybe a link to it could be placed on this page, if not added to this page. I've no idea where to find it (in the Wiki). --23.241.218.90 04:50, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Did you mean these icons? I can't think of any others that are in the lower left of the world map screen. G R E E N E R 06:45, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- That's top left. When you press M, in the lower left corner you have an eye icon, clicking it will open up a toggable legend/key for the map, allowing you to hide world completion markers, navigation markers (asura gates, cave up, cave down, stairs up, stairs down, etc.), commerce markers (TP, bank, guild bank), vendor markers (sans karma vendors), and a few other options iirc. The OP is asking, I believe, for the eye icon? Konig 06:53, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sounds about right. I don't think we have that icon on the wiki (yet). --BryghtShadow (talk) 06:54, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

- Pretty sure he's talking about the "eye" button which toggles visibility.
- Now I'll give the icons a little reorganization.. -Chieftain Alex 08:30, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- I guess I'll have to get umod out and try and use it again, there are too many similar looking 32x32 icons in the icon dump to easily tell which is the one you find on the world map.

New redirects[edit]
Just a quick note to let people know I've created a series of redirections from Map icon/s, Map sign/s and Map symbol/s to the Basic Icons section of this page. This is following a discussion on the forum about new users not knowing what different symbols meant and being unable to search for the Dynamic Event page without knowing the name. I'm hoping the new redirects will enable them to find this page, then find the icon or icons they were confused by and go to the right content type. Danikat (talk) 10:14, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

It would be nice if someone could add a full World Map with zone/area/map labels/names. Thanks in advance. =) (I think there was one (or more) in the Guild Wars Wiki.--Inculpatus cedo (talk) 00:02, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- It doesn't have areas, but there is this. Is that what you're looking for? - Doodleplex 01:05, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Better, not up-to-date. Someone asking for such a map on the forums. How does one find it on the Wiki? I mean what to search for? Searching 'Map' doesn't bring it up. Also, no one has added the new icons for gathering of map currencies, such as Winterberries, etc.
Thanks. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 02:43, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Signal Spots in the Crystal Desert[edit]
So with the launch of Path of Fire and the Crystal Desert, we have a new type of map icon: the high-ground signal points where the Commander can get a communicator signal to Taimi. I can't find an image file on the wiki for these, and I don't see them on this page, and I also don't know the best way to extract a clean image of one. Anyone got any ideas? PaladinOne (talk) 19:26, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- Have you checked on User:Darqam/Dat_Icons? I found this one but it is probably not exactly what you are looking for: . If you can't find the right one I could extract it from the dat (Gw2Browser is the tool to do that), let me know and I'll try to remember to check here -- KillerRabbit 👯💬 19:51, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
- The icon has already been added to Contact Point, the article for the object. The one you found can be used on this page though, for a map icon. —Ventriloquist 09:54, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

When possible, the 'green swirl' icon should be added in the Personal Story category. That's the icon that shows when the next step in the Story is in another map. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:15, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yep, I have just noticed it but I haven't had chance to add it yet. I'll do that later if nobody else does. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 03:21, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Cool. Also, you are aware that Tyria refers to the world, and just not the continent. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 04:02, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, but have never understood when it refers to the world or the continent (in fact, I always thought it was only the world until the release of PoF) and then it feels ambiguous. So, since this article is mostly for newcomers I think using "world" instead Tyria could avoid some confusion. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 14:33, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Ok done, I have found the icon somewhere in the wiki. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 15:00, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for icon. The article is kind of inconsistent, then, regarding the use of Tyria/world, as Tyria is used throughout. Perhaps, an introductory sentence: In the world of Tyria... Inculpatus cedo (talk) 19:32, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

It may be confusing to some that in the category 'Map Icons', it shows that Repeatable Renown Hearts don't show up until Path of Fire, when in actuality, they show up starting with LWS3, which is (I think) considered part of Heart of Thorns. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 21:59, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Map with labels[edit]
I don't know what happened but neither Map, World or Zone got Tyria maps with labeled zones - at least one should be included so people could learn about GW2 world.--178.43.116.229 10:34, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
Interactive world map[edit]
Some names doesnt show anything when you click on them . I was solving that by redirects so far. The Mist map isnt updated for a long time. Some Floor selection doesnt even show anything .Some just show borders and names without maps. Someone should take a look at it finaly. --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 01:31, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- I've modified the widget to tell you what the default floor for the map is - if you see when you click on the zone name you'll get a popup telling you the relevant floors for each zone + what the default is. If you're not on the default floor for a map, there's a high chance there's nothing there (e.g. dungeons)
- Redirects for the home instance map names makes sense since they appear exactly like that ingame anyway. I've added the remaining missing ones after you started populating them.
- The tiles being missing on the mists map is ANet's problem, I can only apply so many bandaids to make the underlying map tiles appear. I've done this for the LWS5 maps but it's a lot of effort so I haven't done this for the mists areas. -Chieftain Alex 14:37, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Well then guess Im using it wrong. Tyria works , Mists sure a bit outdated but thats alright . But no other Floor in Tyria or Mists doesnt want to show up at all. Could it be a cache problems or any other ideas ? --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 15:42, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Any map added after path of fire was released won't have tiles visible... so on continent 1:
- 0 -38 = Mythwright Gambit (raid #6)
- 0 -32 = Hall of Chains (raid #5)
- 1 -11 to -1 = Nighttime Dungeons + a core story instance for whispers
- 1 0 to 3 = Core tyria
- 1 4 to 11 = Daytime dungeons + final core story mission
- 1 37 = Southsun Survival (map 920) -- going to remove this one
- 1 38 = Crown pavillion
- 1 47 = HoT zones and guild halls -- bastion of the penitent shows here, but the tiles are all available on floor 1.
- 1 48 = HoT raids
- 1 49 = PoF zones and guild halls
- 0 55,56 = Rata Sum, Metrica, Brisban -- looks like the city got added to this floor to include it in the story mission + DRM -- :(
- 0 57,58,64,65,66,67 = Kessex Hills, Hoelbrak, Wayfarer, Lion's Arch (64 + 66), Divinity's Reach, Queensdale, Harathi Hinterlands, Iron Marches -- future DRM, plus Forging Steel (post PoF, on 58)
- on continent 2:
- 1 1 = Core PvP, mostly there but missing Auric Span + Armistice Bastion (latest maps)
- 1 5-9, 26-27, 32-39 = PvP maps
- 1 13-23,25,28-29 = older fractals
- 0 11,12,31 = Siren's Reef, Twilight Oasis, Deepstone (post PoF)
- 0 24 = Aquatic Ruins -- no idea why this one isn't working, I guess they changed the layout at some point.
- 0 41 = Auric Span -- too recent.
- If you're missing any of the ones with the ticks then it's just you.
- I might stick some whitelist in for the floors tbh, I don't like the cities having their DRM floors appearing. -Chieftain Alex 16:59, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- I was looking over home instances and their maps. Thought of making maps and where all those nodes are but I found a small problem. Rata Sun and others are zones which I can easily take a map of the zone and just add marks but Hoelbrak doesnt have that . So I was looking if we would have a map of some kind of the 2 floors inside the building. Any ideas how to solve that ? If not well then I will need to make some make-shif maps myself --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 17:37, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Any map added after path of fire was released won't have tiles visible... so on continent 1:
- Hoelbrak upper floor is one of those "map changes depending on where you stand on the same vertical level" - similar to caves. There isn't a way for me to get that data, and I don't think that_shaman has them in his map tiles either. Screenshot or nothing I think. -Chieftain Alex 19:54, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- Map tiles + you can find the floor tiles. Sadly you need to put them together yourself File:Hunter's Hearth Home instance map.jpg --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 23:55, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Clear the recent path?[edit]
