Commander tags[edit]

Hi KillerRabbit. Are you sure about the (un)implementation of the commander tags in-game? If you purchased a commander tag prior to the rework of the system (was it back in 2015?), you will be receiving any additional color that is added into the game, such as the recently released yellow and purple tags, therefore you won't be seeing them in the vendor tab. —Ventriloquist 21:16, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I purchased my commander tag only yesterday for the very first time and the only thing available in the vendor was the one Commander's Compendium, and nothing else. As for what happened back in 2015, I remember that when ANet said they were adding the colors, each color would need to be purchased separately, but there was a huge outcry in reddit and such and by the time it was released, I think it had been changed to a single purchase for all colors (or changed very soon after). I am not 100% sure of this last thing, but I am completely sure that it is not current content, the other colors are either Unimplemented or Historical. I'm leaning for Unimplemented. I'll try to find the reddit thread. --KillerRabbit.1946 (talk) 21:44, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
I found this blog post. Pertinent parts:
This new assortment of colors will facilitate a range of tactical uses. For example, in World vs. World, you could select one color to represent an assaulting commander and another to designate a defending commander
This would imply that before this update we only had the one color
We’re also happy to announce that once you are a commander, you will have access to a variety of colors. Choose from red, yellow, purple, or classic blue to customize your commander icon!
From this I get unlocking commander unlocked all colors, without need for additional purchases. I also found some evidence of this on reddit, but I think this blog is more official. Let me know if you read the same into this, or if you remember this differently. Thanks! --KillerRabbit.1946 (talk) 22:05, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
As far as I understand this issue, what KillerRabbit states is correct; however there is still, somewhere, the use of the 'colored compendiums' (since the new colored ones appeared on the API). I'm not quite sure what the deal is with those, nor if you an actually even find them. My personal guess is that the inner workings of the Commander's Compendium will sort of auto-consume the colored ones when you consume the compendium itself. It does seem like from a player pov that the colored ones are not implemented, but from a game engine pov they are present (I think). So yeah... take this information/guesswork however you want to. -Darqam (talk) 22:21, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
Odd, I just assumed that different colors are purchased through the regular vendor tab. Which vendor did you purchase it from, Rabbit? Maybe different vendors sell different ones. —Ventriloquist 14:16, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
I bought it off Commander Yaffa, but I am really sure the content is not in game now, there is no point in buying different colors, any Commander Compendium will give you all colors. I am nor surprised the items are in the API as Darqam said, they were so close to being released in game... Ventriloquist where did you see these items to be so sure they exist? I can ask my SO (not a commander) to check these vendors, would that help? --KillerRabbit.1946 (talk) 17:22, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Huh. So you bought a commander tag for the first time (two days ago) and it had all the colors? I'm basing the information off of the GW2 api, which is updated with new items, so I assumed these were added to the commander vendor. —Ventriloquist 20:15, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, from not being a commander, I payed 300g and now am a commander with all the colors (blue, red, yellow, green, orange and purple). I was not at all surprised, if I had not gotten all colors I would have created a ticket even! :D It is what has been communicated in blogs and such by Anet. API's tend to expose some inner workings, like Darqam mentioned ... Do you want me to get you screenshots of how the vendors look for non commanders? I can get that. Even after marking the items as Unimplemented they are still displaying in the wiki vendor's lists without any note about that, don't know how that should be handled .... --KillerRabbit.1946 (talk) 14:42, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, guess they decided against selling seperate colors then? I assumed that after the commander system was reworked, each color would cost 300g. As for the status, adding the 'unimplemented' parameter to the template won't do anything, you have to add the status to each page in order for it to work. —Ventriloquist 23:54, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, that's exactly what I've trying to say, they are definitely not selling separate colors, sorry I wasn't all that clear first. I added the 'unimplemented' to each of the pages on the books that are not sold, but I haven't seen a difference in the vendors :( --KillerRabbit.1946 (talk) 14:20, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Addendum[edit]

Thanks for being on top of the tags again, this round! And also for hitting more topics than my glance at your contributions could properly summarize. G R E E N E R 01:12, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

👋[edit]

Heya,

so with the page User:Darqam/Dat Icons, if you make use of the icons/rename them to their proper name, feel free to delete them from that page instead of going through the hassle of editing the name. The point of that page is simply to have icons/images up until they are used. Once they find a home, they get kicked out from the page.

Also, if you're lazy like me, don't even bother deleting them from the page, either myself or Doodle (for some reason) will clear up all the dead links from time to time.

No harm done, just a heads up and a go-ahead on being lazy. -Darqam 17:03, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks! The main reason I did that is because sometimes I like to look at the icons you extract. Then when they disappear from the page I always follow the trail to see what they turned into (I have issues xD). So, knowing they'd probably be deleted, I left a clue in your history (for people like me I guess). -- KillerRabbit 👯💬 22:52, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
