Dialogue[edit]

Speaking with Itzel scouts[edit]

Approaching Ibli:

<Character name>: Hello, Ibli. Thanks again for agreeing to help.
Ibli: Thank you, Commander. I'm happy to return the favor you did for my village.

Speaking with Ibli:

Ibli: The Mordrem took many of our best scouts, but there are three still in the field who can help you find your friends.
<Character name>: That sounds promising. And where will I find these scouts?
Ibli: Imal is closest, so I'll send you to her first.
Ibli: Good luck. Again, as Kaana Miatli's son, I consider it my duty and my honor ro repay the debt we owe.
<Character name>: Thank you, Ibli.
Ibli: And may I add—I love your glider! If you like the view from above, you should also learn to use our mushrooms.
Ibli: They give you an extra boost when you jump on them—it's like having Itzel legs without being a hylek.

Speaking with Scout Imal:

Scout Imal: Greetings, stranger. I'm Imal, and on behalf of Ameyalli, welcome. What brings you to our jungle?
<Character name>: Ibli sent me. I tasked two of my people with tracking Mordrem prisoners, and now I need to catch up with them.
<Character name>: I need to find the prisoners, or my trackers. One's a young norn and the other's a charr with flaming sword.
Scout Imal: I haven't seen anyone like that. But I have seen a plant-woman with a large backpack. She came through a few hours ago.
Scout Imal: She was traveling alone and looked very suspicious…like she was in a hurry and didn't want to be seen.
<Character name>: I know who that is, and I'll deal with soon enough.
Scout Imal: As for the others you mentioned: check in with my partner, Acan…that is if you can get him to stop playing.
<Character name>: What do you mean?
Scout Imal: He spends all day strumming his lute and watching gliders sail by. He may have seen your friends.
<Character name>: So gliding is the best way to get his attention?
Scout Imal: If you glide by him, he'll notice. If you glide close enough, he'll definitely talk to you.
If asura:
<Character name>: Then I'll be sure to impress him with my aerial acumen. Thanks for the tip.
If human:
<Character name>: Then I'll be sure to impress him. Thanks for the tip.
If norn:
<Character name>: Thanks for the advice. I'll make myself impossible to ignore.
If sylvari:
<Character name>: Then I'll make sure to get his attention. Thank you.

Speaking with Scout Acan:

Scout Acan: That was amazing! I’ve seen a lot of gliders since those great ships crashed, but never so close.
If asura:
<Character name>: Spectacular, isn't it? But on to business—Ibli sent me to ask if you’d seen two of my friends come through here.
If human:
<Character name>: You should try it sometime. But right now, Ibli sent me to ask if you’d seen two of my friends come through here.
If norn:
<Character name>: It's even more fun than it looks. But listen: Ibli sent me to ask if you’d seen two of my friends come through here.
If sylvari:
<Character name>: I hope you get to try it someday. Right now, Ibli sent me to ask if you’d seen two of my friends come through here.
Scout Acan: I did see a charr with a flaming sword and a norn with a mace. They were headed south, toward the bad Itzel.
<Character name>: The "bad" Itzel?
Scout Acan: Unfriendly. The Coztic Itzel have been attacked too often lately. Now they treat all outsiders as enemies.
Scout Acan: Scout Ubek should be there. She was going to get a closer look…and had strange ideas about how to get close enough.
If asura:
<Character name>: Thank you. I'll look there next.
If human:
<Character name>: Bad Itzel or not, that’s where I’m going.
If norn:
<Character name>: Sounds dangerous. That's where I need to go.
If sylvari:
<Character name>: Thank you for the warning. I'll tread lightly.
Scout Acan: Also, I strongly recommend you learn to use the local mushrooms–you’ll need powerful jumps to get where you’re going.

Speaking with Nuhoch scouts[edit]

Approaching Tizlak:

Tizlak: Good to see you again, my friend. On Kaana Miatli's order, I'm ready to help you find your companions who went ahead.

Speaking with Tizlak:

Tizlak: Your friends may be skilled fighters, but they left a trail even our newest scouts could follow.
<Character name>: I'm not surprised. They're in a rush. Can you tell me which way they went?
Tizlak: I've just sent a squad of new recruits into the jungle. They will have seen some sign of your friends.
One of the following: [verification requested]
<Character name>: Okay, that's a start. But how do I find your scouts?
<Character name>: That will get me started, but I'll still need to locate your scouts.
Tizlak: Here. Use this warbler to locate them. Find them, inform them that I sent you, and they'll steer you right.
One of the following: [verification requested]
<Character name>: Interesting. I look forward to testing its function. Thank you, Tizlak.
<Character name>: I'll get started right away. Thank you, Tizlak.

Talking to Tizlak again:

Tizlak: I trust your search is going well? And that my trainees are helping?
<Character name>: I'm not quite finished yet.

Talking to Tizlak if the Nuhoch Warbler is deleted:

One of the following: [verification requested]
<Character name>: Sorry, but I lost the warbler.
<Character name>: I can't find the warbler you gave me.
Tizlak: Oh. Luckily I have another one ready. Making the warbler is one of the first things new scouts learn. Here.
One of the following: [verification requested]
<Character name>: Much appreciated. I'll try not to lose this one.
<Character name>: Glad to hear it. I'll try to hang on to this one.

Speaking with Scout Cuatta:

Scout Cuatta: Oh…hello. When I heard the warbler, I was expecting someone else.
<Character name>: Tizlak sent me. I tasked two of my people with tracking Mordrem prisoners, and now I need to catch up with them.
<Character name>: I need to find the prisoners, or my trackers. One's a young norn and the other's a charr with a flaming sword.
Scout Cuatta: Sorry. Haven't seen anyone like that. but I did hear about two strangers cutting their way toward Auric Basin.
Scout Cuatta: Mundi, another scout, is stationed in that area. He might have seen something. Your warbler should lead you to him.

Speaking with Scout Mundi

Scout Mundi: Hey! Where'd you get a warbler?
<Character name>: Tizlak gave it to me. He and Cuatta said you could help find my friends: a charr and a norn.
Scout Mundi: I saw them. Blessed by Ameyalli, and a big flaming sword. They headed toward the border of our hunting grounds.
Scout Mundi: Ubek, one of my fellow scouts, is stationed near there.
Scout Mundi: A word of warning: Ubek was scouting the hostile Coztic Itzel village there. Be very careful when you approach her.
Scout Mundi: I also strongly recommend you learn to use the local mushrooms—you'll need powerful jumps to get where you're going.

Resume for both paths[edit]

Speaking with Scout Ubek:

Scout Ubek: I'm trying to keep a low profile here, but you've clearly got a purpose. What do you need, stranger?
<Character name>: Ibli/Tizlak sent me. I'm looking for a norn and a charr traveling together. If I get you out of here, will you help me?
Scout Ubek: Get me out? After all the trouble I went through to get in?
<Character name>: So you're not a prisoner?
Scout Ubek: I let myself get captured to learn all I can about the Coztic Itzel's situation. And I've got a lot more to learn.
Scout Ubek: But I can help you. I did see your friends, hot on the heels of a Mordrem prisoner caravan headed west.
<Character name>: Thanks, and good luck with your mission.

Speaking with Scout Ubek again:

Scout Ubek: Move along, stranger. I'm in deep cover, and if you draw attention to me, you'll ruin my mission.

My Story[edit]

Verdant Brink loading screen.jpg

Our new hylek allies put us on the trail of Braham and Rytlock, who had scouted ahead for signs of Destiny's Edge and Trahearne. I also learned to use the enhanced jumping ability provided by certain local mushrooms, which makes maneuvering through the jungle faster and more efficient. We'll catch up to Braham and Rytlock shortly; I just hope they've learned something we can use.

Notes[edit]

  • An additional Nuhoch Warbler can be obtained from Tizlak at the eastern end of Thistlevine Ravine if the player deletes the original while In Their Footsteps still active.
