Dialogue[edit]
- Welcome to Old Fiach's Lorestead! I'm Holgi, Fiach's apprentice storyteller. What interest you?
- norn heroes.
- A past hero like Jora or Olaf Olafson? Or more modern heroes like Asgeir, or Gullik and Gyda, kin of Odd?
- One of the greatest of our legends, Jora overcame great personal challenges and help rid Tyria of the threat posed by the Great Destroyer.
- Tell me of the other heroes.
Tell me of Jora.
- Ah. Olaf. A true norn. A hunter and a warrior like none other before or after him. He was the last of his great line, now only living in tales around the fire.
- Tell me of other heroes.
Olaf Olafson.
- The mightiest norn who ever lived. He founded Hoelbrak, giving us a home after Jormag drove our ancestors south. In the Great Hall, you can see the tooth he took from the Ice Dragon.
- Tell me of the other heroes.
The tale of Asgeir.
- Some call Gullik reckless, others called him dumb. But he explored the ruins of Ascalon City and lived to tell the tale. His cousin Gyda, was not as lucky, dying during a treasure hunt years ago.
- Tell me of other heroes.
Odd's kin, Gyda and Gullik.
- Perhaps some other time.
Tell me legends of great - Bear's teeth, yes! What would you like to know? Most people ask me about Hoelbrak's founding, or The Great Hunt, or the destruction of Owl.
- Generations ago, our people faced extinction at the hands of Jormag. The Spirits of the Wild appeared to Asgeir, the mightiest norn of the time, and guided him south where he founded Hoelbrak here.
- I'd like to go back to the other history topics.
Tell me about Hoelbrak's founding.
- It's one of our oldest traditions, dating back even before our ancestors came south. We see it as a rite of passage, where the young show their prowess by challenging a mighty beast.
- I'd like to go back to the other history topics.
I want to hear about the Great Hunt.
- Owl was destroyed by Jormag when the Ice Dragon ravaged our ancestral homelands. She was a gentle Spirit, one that embodied home and hearth. Now, she is no more.
- I'd like to go back to the other history topics.
How was Owl destroyed?
- That's all the information I can handle for now.
Do you know any norn history?
- Oh, no. It takes ages to learn the tales and legends of the great heroes. If the Spirits give me another eighty-six years, I might finally know all our history.
- I see.
Aren't you too old to be an apprentice?
- I don't have time for a story right now.
