Wreck it Ralph[edit]

The comparison between Taimi and Vanelope from Wreck it Ralph seems to really be stretching it. In what ways does the dialogue linked parallel WiR? I don't see any ways in which it does. Psycho Robot (talk) 18:47, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

If I understand the original intent of the bullet, it's that the voice actor appears in both GW2 and WiR and there are vague similarities about the characters referenced. I don't have a problem if you want to remove the reference entirely. Since the voice actors for the two characters are different, it's only a tad stronger than coincidence (and no, that wasn't a snide reference to Taimi's height). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:29, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
During a recent livestream, Angel and others went over Taimi including how she was designed; she mentions the things that are similar to Vanelope but said it was a natural development of how someone would attach to an adult-like figure that is close in age and doesn't boss around (Taimi being 13, Braham being 17 - Taimi's attachment appears to be just her liking Braham because he's young but still adult-like and not bossy like others). So I don't think there's a reference, though it may be just Angel trying to claim originality. Konig 22:10, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Do you mean she specifically volunteered a connection to Wreck-it Ralph? If so, that makes the reference worth noting (in the form of, "Angel McCoy mentioned the movie while describing the evolution of Taimi during development of the character"). If she didn't mention the movie specifically (or if it was a fan that brought it up), then I would just take this as a typical example of parallel design that crops up in literature, film, art, and (from time to time), even science. As Chekhov would suggest, in any play in which a gun appears in Act I, we're going to see it fired before the curtain closes on Act II — that has nothing to do with originality or referencing/easter eggs/homages; it's merely a result of there being only so many reasons to include a gun in a play.
In gaming, there are only so many ways that a handicapped character can respond to being handicapped. She can let it slow her down, she can pretend it doesn't exist, or (like Taimi and Vanelope), she can make accommodations and do the best she can with the tools/body she has. (For people in real life, this is more complicated — art tends to focus on the dramatic moments, not the every day struggles like tying shoes or putting pants on one leg at a time).
Regardless, thanks for the link. I am always interested in what Ms McCoy has to say about the making of GW2. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:18, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
What I stated was that McCoy explained how they developed the tie between Taimi and Braham. She made no mention of inspiration from outside sources, just the way their thought process went into making Taimi attached to Braham. Konig 05:15, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Source of the voice actor[edit]

The link in imdb disagrees with the note. Do we have a source of the source so that we can either correct imdb or correct the wiki? Anzenketh (talk) 19:30, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

It's true, she does voice for both Taimi and Belinda. See here. --Ventriloquist 20:37, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
But where's Wikipedia's source? That information was added here and here by anonymous editors. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:42, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Finally, success! —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:20, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
Thank you it looks like someone spelled her name wrong on imdb. I requested a update for IMDB so no edit on the source is necessary. Anzenketh (talk) 21:22, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Engineer?[edit]

Any source for this? Her being a golemancer isn't really significant, as lore-wise any profession can be one, starting with our own asura characters.--Lon-ami (talk) 12:09, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

off the top of my head in season one she was obsessed with how great of an engi scarlet was but other then that I cant think of where that comes from.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 18:11, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
I don't think she has a profession mechanically. Well, I don't think she mimics a profession mechanically (no NPC has a mechanical profession in GW2 due to how they set things up). Konig 23:51, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
She never fights thing without Scruffy. Doesn't she just use golem skills while inside? —Ventriloquist 08:49, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
Yes, hence my statement. Konig 13:53, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Quote[edit]

The quote on the top of the article is hot garbage and doesn't encompass Taimi in the way that it should. Any ideas for replacements? A few of my ideas: "I enjoy serving in this company; everyone is great, but I'm a member of this team, not its mascot." - From the HoT Story Buried Insight Something from the new Living World season? Maybe "Oh, you worry too much! In research, there's no reward without risk!" from Research in Rata Novus Taimi really hasn't had a ton of solo speaking that reveals a ton about her character, but those two quotes, probably the second, ar the best I've found. Lego6245 (talk) 04:25, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

The quote was added waaaay back when the first character was originally introduced, and we didn't have much to work with. However, her character has been fleshed out in the recent story, so it would be fitting to update the quote. I like the 'mascot' quote, but I'm not sure if it's accurate anymore, since we sort of resolve that issue within the HoT story. Maybe the second one? —Ventriloquist 08:38, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
I think the second one is great! It works well without context; is always relevant; and it shows her personality well. Xiphia (talk) 20:32, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Revising Taimi's birthdate[edit]

I think that Taimi's birthdate should be revised to 1313AE. As of LS3 ep 2, which takes place in 1329AE, she's explicitly stated to be 16 years old. The source for the 1314 AE birthdate leads to a dead link and I think information that is actually in the game should take precedence. 73.162.150.57 05:20, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Maybe, just maybe, the commander forgot her exact birthday? Taimi doesn't state that she's sixteen, does she..? --BryghtShadow (talk) 07:04, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Since the Twitch link is dead, here's a mirror (I think?). https://youtu.be/yQeeIwwYt04?t=131 "[...] she is thirteen years old". --BryghtShadow (talk) 07:13, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
She was thirteen when we met her in early 1327. She's sixteen in mid 1329. Maybe that just means her birthday came shortly after we first met her (meaning that for most of 1327 AE, she was fourteen). If I didn't screw up my mental math. Konig (talk) 14:47, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Dialogue window drawing[edit]

We have a great image of Zommoros' dialogue window drawing, but we don't seem to have Taimi's. It'd make a great addition to the gallery if someone can hunt it down! --Idris (talk) 20:43, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

Dialog in Sun's Refuge re: Good, Better, Nest[edit]

Currently we have:

Talk more option tango.png What do you think of the nest so far? (once the collection has been unlocked) [verification requested]
Leaves, branches...I don't know. There must be something else we can add. [verification requested]
Talk end option tango.png I'll look.
Look at all this! I've never lived anywhere this nice. Or this full of love. No dragon could say no to this. Am I right? (Good, Better, Nest is finished.) [verification requested]
Talk end option tango.png You're right.
Talk end option tango.png She'll be fine.

-- I can confirm that at 0/6 on Good, Better, Nest collection, she does say "Leaves, branches...I don't know. There must be something else we can add." Will keep an eye out for changes as I progress the collection. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 18:24, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Dialog updated with Return to A Star to Guide Us patch[edit]

The patch alone is not sufficient to trigger the updated dialog. I currently have the old options and text as documented under "Subsequent interaction". For Return to A Star to Guide Us, I have done a few of the miscellaneous map-related achievements but none of the story mission ones. (And in terms of "Return to" full-episode completions I am not yet through LWS3.) Given that the Recorder dialog options appear to be triggered by certain achievements it seems likely that this is also the case here. --Mayhap (talk) 17:54, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
