Random "Error in widget Game link"
I don't know if this only happens to me, but on some pages I get this error instead of a game link. Example: Error, no error. Happens after cache purges and on different browsers. Tyndel (talk) 21:02, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- I get it when I purge either page. Force-refreshing clears it up, though. I don't know what could be causing it, Poke's mucked about with my code so much that I can hardly find my way around that widget anymore. :P —Dr Ishmael 21:27, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- Do feel free to annotate your code poke.. y'know for javascript plebians to understand :p -Chieftain Alex 21:42, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Image upload problems
File:Troll's End entrance.jpg - "Error creating thumbnail: convert: Output file write error --- out of disk space? `/tmp/transform_d47fc42112f2-1.jpg' @ error/jpeg.c/EmitMessage/242.
Error code: 1"
Also attempting to upload a new image (for me at least) results in the following message: "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the filename. Please check whether you really want to upload this file." -Chieftain Alex 18:48, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- finally successfully uploaded the exact same image - but the "Error creating thumbnail: convert: Output file write error --- out of disk space? `/tmp/transform_51389900acfd-1.jpg' @ error/jpeg.c/EmitMessage/242. Error code: 1" message appears (this will eventually get job queued out..) -Chieftain Alex 17:37, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, I tried to upload NPCs screenshots yesterday but I gave up after a while due to this annoying bug, hope it gets fixed soon. Louise 17:59, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- Oh good, it's not only me. I've been getting errors instead of thumbnails for a few days now, and it locked me out of uploading icons today, too. Same error. Unusually, it did allow me to upload a different icon, but not the one I wanted. After half an hour, everything was back to normal. —Ventriloquist 20:58, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, I tried to upload NPCs screenshots yesterday but I gave up after a while due to this annoying bug, hope it gets fixed soon. Louise 17:59, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- There was a minor issue that a restart of Apache on the web servers cleared up. I apologize for the inconvenience and the delay in resolving it. Justin Lloyd (talk) 21:44, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- No worries and thank you for fixing it. -Chieftain Alex 22:05, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Search bar weirdly case-sensitive
If I'm about to write a two-word search and I do not capitalize the second word, I'm not getting an article suggestion in the drop-down menu, even if the search term is exactly matching an article. Screenshot 1
However if I instead capitalize the second word (and I don't need to capitalize the first), I'm getting the correct suggestion. Screenshot 2
A minor bug, but somewhat annoying. —Nelg (talk) 18:06, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Not a bug, that's just how the base version of MediaWiki works. There are extensions that modify or replace the search engine, but we don't have any of them installed. —Dr Ishmael 19:09, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'd like to add something related to the search bar capitalization "issue". If you search something having capitalized the first letters (i.e Bowl of Spiced Meat Chili) and press "Go", you are promptly redirected to the correct webpage (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Spiced_Meat_Chili). If however you search without capitalizing (i.e. bowl of spiced meat chili), you are redirected to the "Create the page "Bowl of spiced meat chili" on this wiki!" page (although the correct result is indeed just below that). In some instances, when searching without capitalizing (i.e. bottle of elonian wine), you are redirected to the lowercase page "http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bottle_of_elonian_wine" which shows a "502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server." I'm just mentioning it, so that you are aware of the 502 Server Error page, rather than any "fix" related to search capitalization. Father Eko (talk) 15:58, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Per the request on the GW2W:TECH talk page, Stephane + Justin have plans to implement extension:titlekey which will resolve the problem for the few pages that the search fails to find due to case problems.
- By the way, the Bottle of Elonian Wine problem was totally unrelated - the recipe list by discipline template craps itself if it is used on a frequently used item (some guy kindly added all the mystic forge recipes for elonian bottles of wine). The page needs splitting up. -Chieftain Alex 19:55, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi hi, Justin installed the TitleKey extension and I tested "bowl of spiced meat chili)" successfully. Let us know if you see anything else not working following this change! Thanks --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:03, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
Stats for Mad Memoires: Complete Edition incorrect
The stat lookup is incorrect for Mad Memoires: Complete Edition , the precision stat value is incorrect (should be 24). ChipSylex (talk) 17:20, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Fixed, I didn't realize that Template:Back item infobox didn't support the 'stat level' parameter found in both Template:Armor infobox and Template:Weapon infobox. —Dr Ishmael 17:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Page not loading properly
Seems like this page doesn't load properly: Special:ActiveUsers. It's being cached slowly and only shows 1 person, sometimes 12 persons and sometimes just 3 persons. Seems too random and broken. Do you know why? and can be fixed? It works perfectly in the spanish wiki BTW. - Saelyth / Aens Windstorm Talk 19:05, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- Seems to have been resolved with the latest MediaWiki update. -Chieftain Alex 17:00, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
Armor piece stat missing
The amount of bonus stat in some armor pieces, such as Latera's Light Gloves, Latera's Leather Gloves or Latera's Heavy Gloves, do not display. I could not find the right area in the infobox to fix this. 92.132.231.202 14:36, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Fixed by Tyndel. Thanks! G R E E N E R 15:39, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- The item Iron Legion Gunner's Ring has the same issue. 92.132.231.202 20:11, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Vendor Item Table - sort by cost inconsistent for items bought with karma
See Style Guide and Rebel Isaak.
When a table has values on either side of 1,000 karma, sorting the table by cost will place the > 1,000 karma items below items that are < 1,000 karma.
I'm guessing it's looking at the leftmost digit without checking how many digits. --Chrury (talk) 03:49, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- Fixed--Relyk ~ talk < 07:52, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- Confirmed fixed for Vendor_item_table_header (as seen in Style Guide). Vender Table Header still needs the fix (See Rebel Isaak). Thanks. --Chrury (talk) 15:50, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- your "number" edit was correct, just click on the clock for any page which still isn't sorting properly - this should clear the wiki-cache. -Chieftain Alex 17:22, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- Confirmed fixed for Vendor_item_table_header (as seen in Style Guide). Vender Table Header still needs the fix (See Rebel Isaak). Thanks. --Chrury (talk) 15:50, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Gem Store
The Gem Store subpages (Gem Store/Special) are giving an error: Fatal exception of type MWException. —Mora 17:37, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm this was probably a SMW subobject related problem. I've removed the subobjects, thus breaking the cost vendor table entries on pages such as Aetherblade Heavy Armor Skin, until I can think of something to fix this issue. -Chieftain Alex 10:48, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Found the cause of the problem, I was attempting to assign the same name to multiple subobjects. -Chieftain Alex 14:42, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Multiple stacks on Immobilize doesn't display
"stacks=5" on Immobilize does not display —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Reelix (talk • contribs) at 10:42, 28 September 2015 (UTC).
- Fixed. Sign your comments! :p -Chieftain Alex 10:48, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- Would you mind fixing crippled too? e.g. Phantasmal Berserker should apply 4 stacks of cripple. --Fanolian (talk) 13:28, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
Attack damage display on weapon skills are non-standardised
Based off the formula of "Damage done = (weapon strength) * Power * ( Modifier ) / (target's Armor)", all skills with identical modifiers on the identical weapon should have an identical base damage display. This is currently not the case.
For an example, take the 4 Ranger Shortbow skills Crossfire, Quick Shot, Crippling Shot, and Concussion Shot - All of these have a Modifier of 0.4 whilst the displayed damage on Crossfire is 134 whilst the rest are 118. This is because the displayed number is manually entered and not calculated. Due to this, weapon skills site-wide have varying damage displays on identical weapons with identical modifiers.
Whilst this could be quick-fixed on a per-skill basis, a potential long-term fix for this would to have a site-wide standardized weapon strength on a per-weapon basis and having the damage display calculated as opposed to entered. This would have the added benefit of being able to modify the damage across all skills if the base weapon damage were to change at a later stage.
Reelix (talk) 08:03, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- This isn't really a wiki bug is it, just a lack of documentation consistency? -Chieftain Alex 10:32, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- One way forward would be to modify the template as he brought up–there is already a standard for how we can present (or calculate) damage for each skill entry.
The template will need to be updated with the various weapon strength values at level 80 exotic.Chenzw (talk) 13:43, 30 September 2015 (UTC)- Sorry, I didn't realise that {{Item stat lookup}} exists for this purpose. Maybe that template can be called to retrieve the weapon strength. Chenzw (talk) 13:51, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- One way forward would be to modify the template as he brought up–there is already a standard for how we can present (or calculate) damage for each skill entry.
- The only variable from the formula, for the sake of wiki, should be Modifier/coefficient. When documenting skill damages in wiki, we can fill in 2 independent variables, i.e. coefficient (optional), and Damage Done (which should dependent on coefficient, if any, nonetheless). If we leave the damage done as blank, it shows 0 even if we have the coefficient which should be able to calculate the damage done from it. My suggestion is that the template should accept both damage done and coefficient as it is, but coefficient prevails when both exist and use it to calculate the actual (reference) damage. --Fanolian (talk) 13:57, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
HTTPS login/search redirects to non-HTTPS page
Whenever there is a redirect, GW2wiki brings me to non-https version of the pages. For example,
1. Visiting the main page via https://wiki.guildwars2.com/ redirects to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
2. Logging in from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main+Page&error= redirects to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
3. Searching an existing article (e.g. damage) from the search panel and press "Go" or
4. Searching via direct link https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=damage redirects to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage
--Fanolian (talk) 13:26, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Purging a page by using "?action=purge" also redirects to an http address. -Chieftain Alex 17:35, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
- This issue is now fixed (thanks Justin!) -Chieftain Alex 19:00, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
Crippled Template produces spelling errors
The Champion Giant article uses the code {{Crippled|cripple}}s which displays as Crippleds. The 'd' shouldn't be there, but I've no idea how to go about fixing it.
Substituting the template here for posterity. :P Khenmu 11:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Basically icons shouldn't be used in the middle of prose, so perhaps "
[[Crippled|cripples]]
" would be better. And yes, as you've found, the effect templates have no "alt text" options. -Chieftain Alex 11:45, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Recipe ingredient list is out of order
In creating a recipe list for the experimental precursors on a new page I made, the list of ingredients for Rage Experiment does not show up properly. The actual item's page lists the correct order (ingredient1, ingredient2, etc.) However, when the recipe template is used:
Item | Rarity | Discipline(s) | Rating | Ingredients |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rage Experiment (Learned from: Box of Recipes: Rage (First Tier)) |
Exotic | 450 |
The Essence of Fish shows up on the bottom, rather than on top. This is how it should be sorted:
Item | Rarity | Discipline(s) | Rating | Ingredients |
---|---|---|---|---|
Zap Experiment (Learned from: Box of Recipes: Zap (First Tier)) |
Exotic | 450 |
And in fact, all other similar weapons that have completed recipe lists show up this correct way--all except Rage Experiment. I can't figure out why. ~Mervil 19:50, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- The order is random, sadly we cannot order the way that record entries are output. -Chieftain Alex 20:17, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- The order also doesn't matter. The fact that the game displays them in a certain order isn't significant. —Dr Ishmael 20:17, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
