Trainer
Trainers were vendors that sell instruction manuals, allowing players to unlock traits for their character or the Commander mechanic for their account.
Profession trainers[edit]
Profession trainers were NPCs that would sell trait guides to players of their respective professions. These guides can be used to unlock specific traits for a single character.

Profession trainers can be found in all major cities and many explorable zones.

Retrainers[edit]
Retrainers behave the exact same way as profession trainers, but they will offer their service to all professions, their inventory changing to match the profession of the character talking to them.
Retrainers were often used instead of profession trainers to reduce NPC clutter in places where there's little room or many other NPC services already.

Commander Trainers[edit]
- Primary article: Commander Trainer
Commander Trainers, often called "Master Strategist", were NPCs that sell the Commander's Compendium, an item that unlocks the account-wide ability to act as a commander and form squads.
Notes[edit]
- Trainers would sometimes check a character's downscaled level instead of their actual level, and so they could refuse to offer services to some players in low level areas, which was considered a bug.
Trivia[edit]
- Prior to the April 2014 Feature Pack, the only way to reset trait points in PvE was at a profession trainer or retrainer.
