Skill Overcharge
Healing A.E.D..png A.E.D. Increases duration to 8 seconds. When fatal damage is prevented, this skill now grants Shocking Aura.
Utility Personal Battering Ram.png Personal Battering Ram Increases launch range to 600. This skill is now considered an explosion and inflicts burning for 3s.
Rocket Boots.png Rocket Boots Increases range to 1200. Grants Superspeed for 2s after landing.
Slick Shoes.png Slick Shoes Increases radius to 90. Inflicts cripple for 4s when it knocks down foes
Throw Mine.png Throw Mine (PvE) Causes you to drop a second mine at your location when cast.
Throw Mine.png Throw Mine (WvW, PvP) Causes you to drop a second mine at your location when cast.
Throw Mine.png Deploy MineUnderwater.png Causes you to drop a second mine at your location when cast.
Utility Goggles.png Utility Goggles Adds protection that lasts for 5 seconds.

  • This trait no longer reduces the cooldown of gadget skills.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the overcharged version of Rocket Boots from having its cooldown reduced when the skill is used underwater.
April 14, 2020
  • Corrected the text description of the overcharged Utility Goggles to reflect that they are granting resistance and not fury.
December 17, 2019
  • Fixed a bug in which this trait used the old version of Utility Goggles. It now reflects the updated behavior, granting resistance and clearing blindness. When Gadgeteer is traited, the skill will also grant protection.
August 08, 2017 Path of Fire pre-patch:
  • This trait has been reworked.
    • It no longer requires static charges and always enhances your gadgets as long as it is equipped.
    • Gadget recharge bonus has been reduced to 20%.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented enhanced skills from displaying their bonuses properly in the trait preview.
    • Specific gadget enhancements have been adjusted as follows:
      • A.E.D.: When fatal damage is prevented, this skill now grants shocking aura in addition to its previous effects.
      • Throw Mine: Increased radius has been removed. This now causes you to drop a second mine at your location when cast.
      • Utility Goggles: Increased might gain from 3 stacks to 5 stacks.
      • Slick Shoes: This skill now inflicts cripple when it knocks down foes, in addition to its previous effects.
      • Rocket Boots: This skill now grants superspeed after landing, in addition to its previous effects.
      • Personal Battering Ram: This skill is now considered an explosion and inflicts burning, in addition to its previous effects.

  • Skills that count as explosions for the traits Steel-Packed Powder, Explosive Powder, and Shrapnel are now marked with a skill fact.

  • Fixed a bug in which the overcharged versions of gadget skills did not have their recharge time reduced by this trait.
June 23, 2015 Specialization update:
  • Updated this trait to reflect the introduction of the specialization mechanic.
  • This trait has been revamped:
    • Gain static charges when struck.
    • At 5 charge levels your next gadget skill use is overcharged and recharges 50% faster.
