Only refers to PvE because I haven't played PvP yet and will probably suck at it.

Guardian[edit]

  • Focus - Ray of Judgment has poor damage and the 3 second blind/regen won't be noticed. The 4 bounces make it somewhat attractive in 1v1 where blind and regen can trigger twice. The recharge is pretty long though. Shield of Wrath is a great skill like Arcane Shield. If you aren't using Focused Mastery, no one will be using a focus.
  • Torch - The burning skill doesn't do much and then chain doesn't deal much damage while having a long recharge. Cleansing Flame deals decent damage with the recharge, but it doesn't remove conditions from yourself, it's channeled, and Purging Flames as well as other effects give you better options for condition removal.
  • Sword - Basic slow attack, scepter hits just as fast at a range. Flashing Blade is identical to Leap of Faith without the combo. Zealot's Defense allows you to attack at range, but that's pointless when you other two attacks are melee; you also have to be stationary.

Warrior[edit]

  • Axe - Axe main hand is rarely used while the off hand is used plenty thanks to Whirling Axe. With everyone using Greatsword, vulnerability on another weapon doesn't look very attractive. Warriors only have a single fire field to combo the finishers on.
  • Sword - Sword off hand isn't used because Impale is single target. Riposte is very attractive because it's a block with low recharge with offensive effects.
  • Mace - Mace provides plenty of crowd control skills, but people stop bothering to remove defiant stacks a long time ago. Crushing Blow isn't attractive because Greatsword inflicts vulnerability. And the mace attacks extremely slow.
  • Warhorn - Players only care about damage and not dieing, so this is ignored. I don't find it terribly useful when you have other sources for condition removal and vigor.
  • Hammer - Hammer is awesome because it's your only real source of a blast finisher along with fun skills. I don't think it's used much because it doesn't hit multiple times and has a slow attack. People regard it as the slower version of a greatsword with skills players can't spam.

Elementalist[edit]

Elementalists have mostly unused attunements as you can switch attunements immediately.

  • Focus - No one uses a focus in PvE.
  • Trident - Like the staff, people will simply sit on Fire and Earth and treat the other attunements as throw away skills. I love all the skills you are given, except Magnetic Current needs to be a leap finisher to be useful.
  • Staff - Staff gets a lot of love, but Elementalists sit on Fire and Earth attunements spamming skills without bothering with the other two.
    • Water - Elementalists will use Geyser, Frozen Ground, and Healing Rain then simply swap attunements. Water Blast is petty and Ice Spike takes 15 seconds to land.
    • Earth - I don't think any Elementalists care about Unsteady Ground, it only hits once and doesn't provide any other synergy.
  • Scepter - The lesser used cousin of D/D, it lost popularity after they nerfed the blast finishers on Dragon's Tooth and Phoenix as well as Evasive Arcana for stacking might on the fire field.
    • Water - Ice Shards is weak, Shatterstone once again takes too long, and Water Trident is a dumb to aim with such a small radius.
