Lithomancers are rangers so in tune with earthen magics that they can instantly craft armor and magical trinkets by reaching into the earth. Due to the limited duration of these created objects Lithomancers still have yet to profit off their abilities other than supporting allies inside combat. Never the less, those that choose to become specialized in Lithomancy, tend towards the crafts innately outside of their ability to shape geodes instantly into magical earrings. Though the ability sounds like a parlor trick, armor and trinkets conjured up by the Lithomancer are nothing to laugh at as they produce a variety of immediate magical effects, on top of that Lithomancers can arm their pets and create powerful Earthen Juggernauts that devastate their foes.

Profession mechanic[edit]

A Lithomancer can slowly pull power from the leylines, drawing the needed energy into themselves so that they can empower their pets to become Earthen Juggernauts. While in Earthen Juggernaut form, animal companions gain a massive boost to their attributes and provide additional controllable skills for the Lithomancer to utilize. The Lithomancer cannot change pets while one is in Earthen Juggernaut form, Earthen Juggernaut form can be ended prematurely. While in Earthen Juggernaut form 2 new juggernaut specific skills are available in addition to the animal companion's normal skills. Earthen Juggernaut form runs on a charge system similar to skills of the conjure skill type.

Tail Slam Aquatic - Autoattack 1 Swipe at your tail, dealing damage and has a chance to daze them for 1 second.
F4: Grand Dive Aquatic 1/2 8 Dive downwards and then swim up with increased speeds dodging attacks and dealing damage to foes caught in your path, displacing and stunning them.
F5: Alpha Pulse Aquatic 1 20 Create 9 orbs of highly condensed water that arms and shoots focused on your target foe, damages any enemies in the crossfire.
Earthen Phoenix
Rain of Feathers Aerial - Autoattack 1 1/2 Rain down sharp feathers at an area centered around your foe inflicting Bleeding (4s) on each strike.
F4: Evasive Sunburst Aerial 1/2 6 Lift off with your companion into the skies with an explosive blast that deals damage and Burning (5s) landing at a the target location.
F5: Omega Corona Aerial 3 20 Gather in heat dealing damage and Burning (5s) foes around you, then explode in a radiant blast that damages enemies.
Earthen Titan
Lighting Smash Biped - Autoattack 1 Gather up lightning and smash it into target foe causing an explosion. Chance to Blind (4s) foes.
F4: Roar of Ferocity Biped 1 10 Damage foes and grant Might, Fury, and Swiftness (10s) to allies.
F5: Thunderous Leap Biped 1/2 20 Leap into the sky and smash down in a torrent of lightning, creating a lighting field, and knocking down foes.
Earthen Kirin
Piercing Stalagmites Quadraped - Autoattack 1 Pierce your foe with stalagmites inflicting Cripple and Bleeding (4s).
F4: Blessings of Fortune Quadraped 1/4 4 Grant Protection (2s) to allies in target area, the next time they take damage they are healed a for a minor amount as well.
F5: Terra Wrath Quadraped 1 20 Surround yourself with a maelstrom of stones, reducing incoming damage, and damaging all foes in the area.
Earthen Hecaton
Arcane Bombs Polyped - Autoattack 1 1/2 Launch magical bombs at target area dealing damage.
F4: Energy Beam Polyped 2 6 Channel a beam of energy damaging anything in its path.
F5: Ether Storm Polyped 3 20 Channel a storm that follows your target dealing damage and inflicting Weakness (4s)s. (Note: Dodging will remove the target.)

Lithomancers utilize hammers and shock waves to attack their foes at 900 unit range.

3 Consuming Earth 1 12 Strike the ground causing target area around your target to become quicksand inflicting Cripple (5s) if they stay in the area for the full duration they are Immobilized
4 Ward Against Foes 3/4 20 Whirl create a circle of earth around you that prevents enemies from entering melee range. (Note: Stability can be used to bypass the threshold.)
5 Earthen Explosion 1/2 30 Cause an explosion underneath your foes causing them to be launched upwards taking damage on launch and landing. Blast Finisher.

Major Adept Earthblessed Activate Ward Against Foes when you begin reviving an ally. Upon successful revival you and that ally are healed.
Major Adept Gathering Might While in combat grant a stack of Gathering Might to yourself and allies very few seconds, Gathering Might increases power, all stacks are lost upon exiting combat.

Major Master Might of the Earthforge Hammer skills have reduced cooldown, hitting an enemy with a hammer ability has the chance to grant Might (8s).
Major Master Mending Grip Whenever a charge is expended from a conjured item you summoned, the user is healed.
Major Master Shadow of the Juggernaut Attacks against the same target as your Earthen Juggernaut deal additional damage.
Minor Grandmaster Wielder's Boon While wielding a conjured item gain additional power.
Major Grandmaster Obsidian Instincts 45 Recharge time When disabled by a foe with stun, daze, knockback, pull, knockdown, taunt, float, fear, launch, or sink, equip yourself with a set of Lesser Obsidian Armor.
Major Grandmaster Ward Against Harm Gain charges through critical attacks, upon gaining enough charges create a Ward Against Harm at your current location that grants Protection (6s).
Major Grandmaster Mythic Proportions Earthen Juggernaut form recharge is reduced. Animal companions gain bonus attribute adjustments, this bonus is doubled while in Earthen Juggernaut form.

Design Notes[edit]

The original idea was to take animal companions and make them into Zoids, though the final result of this idea is a little bit different it still gives almost the same effect of turning a ranger's animal companions into massive creatures of destruction that should be feared. Conjures were more of thought experiment of which profession other than the elementalist would fit while not being too obvious. Though certainly, you can go mobile forge with engineers or warriors, or shadow weapons for thieves, event lore based weapons with the rev, and so much more with other professions, it felt more interesting to experiment with the design space around the ranger. In-game we already have Sylvari creating weapons of plants, so that is a bit redundant, so the next best thing is to tap into a ranger's thematic connection with the earth. Thus the Lithomancer was born. One of the greatest challenges around and still persists from this idea is the massive amount of skills/abilities that a ranger would have access to. This brings to mind of what should these abilities do? How powerful are they? How magical are they? Though I don't think I tapped into these questions as well as I could, I hope I did bring to focus what you could do with conjured items that deal with utilities rather than weapon skills. As a final note, boy did I think wrong when I thought Elementalists have a lot of skills, creating 6 sets of conjured weapons, and skills for each Earthen Juggernaut was a tough mental exercise.
