Enviromental Weapons

I know you can say pick up rocks and stuff but did they keep the old enviromental weapons like creatures that you ride? 86.137.47.146 10:56, 9 January 2011 (UTC)86.137.47.146

This is Guildwars2, Mounts dont exist. (for players, anyway.) You can throw rabbits, though. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon5 Anti.png 11:48, 9 January 2011 (UT
I know, it's awsome that you can pick up rabbits and throw them hmm do you think the RSPCA agreed to that? 86.137.47.146 14:27, 9 January 2011 (UTC)86.137.47.146
Lol. no idea. i think they'l pad the rabbits with pillows, first. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon5 Anti.png 14:29, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
If this is the RSPCA taping pillows to them fine but if it's arenanet then they must have vegetarians designing the rabbits. 86.137.47.146 14:44, 9 January 2011 (UTC)86.137.47.146
They bit our knecks off in Gw1, anyway. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon5 Anti.png 14:50, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I think the ip was talking about environmental weapons such as the Junundu or the Seige Devourer in the Charrlands being possible in GW2. - Giant Nuker 15:22, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah, i feel stupid right now. But to be fair, you got eaten by the junundu, not mounted on it. --NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon5 Anti.png 15:44, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I was including stuff like that but there is no reason to feel stupid. Anyway maybe the rabbits will be like the one in Monty Python And The Holy Grail that bites heads off then eats them? 86.137.47.146 16:50, 9 January 2011 (UTC)86.137.47.146

Technical

It seems to me that the technical section of the FAQ is a little redundant or out of date at least.

"What are the specs for running GW2?

GW2 will have higher requirements than GW but no requirements have been set. They plan to keep the requirements low so that owners of mainstream PCs will be able to play the game when it is released."

There are demos showing the first four professions for christs sake!! What are the specs of those machines that the demos where played on at the conventions?!!!??

Also.

"Will I need Vista/Windows7 and DirectX 10 to play?

No, but DirectX 10 will be supported.[9] "

We are on DirectX 11 now and (most likely) DirectX 12 by the time GW2 ACTUALLY comes out!!!! This section of the FAQ needs updating!!! --Stu 23:20, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

First, do we know the specs of the demo machines? (I assume they'll be far above the minimum to keep the framerate high for the pretty demo, so it's probably moot anyway.) Second, they haven't released any info on DirectX since that comment. -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 00:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
As Kyoshi said, when you are showing off your new shiny (still in development) game, you want to make sure that it runs perfectly and beautifully in a high resolution on a fast graphics card. We will know what the requirements are when it comes out or when ArenaNet decides to tell us (though I doubt they'll be able to before release). Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 00:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Was just looking at the newest driver download for nVidia GPU's and saw that they list Guild Wars 2 under their excellent section for 3D support o.O [1] (Usaf1a8xx 18:12, 4 April 2011 (UTC))

I'm hoping that they meant GW... Aqua (T|C) 18:13, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean...it clearly says Guild Wars 2? (Usaf1a8xx 19:26, 4 April 2011 (UTC))
The demo was playable in 3D, which means the actual game will probably also support 3D. - Infinite - talk 19:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Suggested move

Just saying, shouldn't there be a feedback space and shouldn't this page be moved to it? [[Feedback:Frequently Asked Questions]] would be a nice name. - Lucian Shadowborn User Aios sig.png 03:18, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

This isn't feedback. It's wiki members answering questions that have already been answered by ANet in various places. -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 03:40, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Could someone please clarify this?

What are the specs for running GW2? GW2 will have higher requirements than GW but no requirements have been set. They plan to keep the requirements low so that owners of mainstream PCs will be able to play the game when it is released.

This question has been bugging me for awhile now, could someone please say, if possible, when it was said and what is considered low requirements and a mainstream PC (both at the quote time and now).

Thank you. Abbess Katherine 02:29, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

As f right now, we simply do not know. Anet has not released any information regarding your inquiry but when they do, this wiki wil be the first to have it. I suggest you keep an eye on Runnig the game - Lucian Shadowborn User Aios sig.png 04:19, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I'd heard second-hand that if you're computer can play gw1 with graphics at maximum you should be able to play gw2 without too many problems. My 5 year old 'mid-range gamer' computer meets recommended specs on most games even now. :)
In absence of actual information there is some speculation and theories on what might be required -> take a look at this Guild Wars 2 Guru thread where they mention some machine specs of the gw2 demo machines and discuss some machine specs which should handle the game ok. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 04:52, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Weapons

I see different weapons like gun and pistol. For what profession are these weapons?

If they are not for rangers, for what, then? (Wheelock Rifle and Seathunder Pistol) source: http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#item The preceding unsigned comment was added by MangaAnime (talkcontribs).

So far we know the rifle is used by the warrior. No professions have been announced which use the pistol. We know there is a profession to be announced during January - perhaps we'll know one soon? -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 06:32, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Will we be able to change our login email for playing the game?

moved from Help:Ask a wiki question

Since many players already linked their guildwars accounts to their Ncsoft master accounts, we aren't able to change our sign in emails, but will we be able to in guildwars 2? -thanks, I hope you'll allow that option :)

Because Guild Wars 2 will likely not be operational this year, you can round up the difference between GW1 and GW2 to 7 years inbetween. Judging how some players have been playing GW1 since the very first days (and thus have used very old email adresses), it would not make sense for ArenaNet to use the same email to link accounts like that. It would also allow easy account-lifting by using an email of a friend you have seen using it (for example, a friend who has all HoM points on his GW1 account). So no, I doubt you will be forced to use the same email for your GW2 account. :) - Infinite - talk 12:17, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
EDIT: I just noticed this is Ask a wiki question, so it's in the wrong section. Could someone move it to FAQ's talk page, I'm kinda busy atm. Cheers! - Infinite - talk 12:19, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Guardian?-No dedicated Healer?

I thought they said there was not going to be a dedicated healer but now they've added the guardian, or is the guardian more defense and those magical weapons? 81.155.70.99 17:58, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

The guardian is a minor healer, much like the Water Attunement elementalist and the Healing Spring ranger. It is, however, based on the gw1 monk in conjunction with the gw1 paragon and gw1 warrior. The spirit weapons are inspired from the gw1 ritualist. - Infinite - talk 18:04, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Good one to add to the page, so I'll do that.
To answer, the guardian is not a dedicated healer. It has some skills which heal, but in the first place, as stated in an interview, no skills that heal allies will target those allies directly; they'll either ground-target, be at the area of the caster, or affect allies around an enemy you strike. It can spec to be defensive, with walls and wards and such, but there is no healing specialty. -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 18:07, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Guardian is about protecting your ally from getting hit. There are no healer in GW2 due to the lack of healing skill (unless you count regen boon as healing) and there are no ally target skill. chanw4 (talk) 18:08, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

No dedicated healers?!?! DDDDD: Nooooooooooooooo!! -sobs- I almost always play healers only. D: -- Metus 19:54, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Then you may want to roll a Guardian, to be a protective/reactive profession after all. :) - Infinite - talk 20:18, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
I, however, hate melee classes. Fail as anything that does not attack ranged, if I can't go heal. =P Not a fan of close combat. -- Metus 11:04, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
A guardian with a scepter or staff is fully magic-oriented. :) - Infinite - talk 12:59, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Ooooh~ I should read better then, I guess. xDD Thanks. I'll probably see how I work things out. :3 Still wondering what the next classes will be. Looking forward! xD Thanks again. -- Metus 17:42, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

US & EU Question

I hope this does not sound in any way strange... But I'm just not certain about this... My question: Will the characters be able to move to EU and US servers/realms/instances much like it did in the first Guild Wars? Maybe also international 'districts' (as they were called)? It's just that I'm EU and my guild is US. I plan to keep playing with my guild, but when some went playing WoW, I never been able to play with them due to being European... So there my question. Anyone got any answer for this? Otherwise I'll wait and see if I learn more with more information released. Just wasn't sure if I missed it... Thank you very much. ^^ -- Metus 17:51, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

From the sound of it, servers will not be exclusively linked by country, but rather by simply choosing a "home server/world". You'll presumably be able to play with whoever you want, and switching servers at any time will be simple, but changing your home server will require some work.
However, they haven't released much on the subject yet. I'd wait for more news before taking my word for it. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 18:10, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. ^^ Really hope it remains the same like in Guild Wars. -- Metus 08:53, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Thief - Assassin?

Could the thief probably be the guild wars 2 equivalent to an assassin? 86.157.253.241 08:25, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Very likely, but nothing is certain until all professions have been revealed. - Infinite - talk 08:27, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
We'll see what they say on 7th March when they introduce Thief on homepage. Wapakalypse 08:54, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
I know that but they have already kind of half revealed the Thief look at the updates on the site. They're not on the proffession page but it is on the homepage they have said that there is a Thief. Also if you type in GW2 Thief on youtube it will come up with part 3/4 of GDC 2011 which is Thief gameplay. Part 1/2 are Guardian/Norn Gameplay. 86.157.253.241 08:59, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Hey you know how everyone keeps asking for the release date "that they don't have" why can't they give us a time table for when they are going to release information?

I suppose but why couldn't they put a long term timetable instead of just over a week. 86.157.253.241 07:37, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
There's a reason they don't know the release date: they don't know when they'll be done with things. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 12:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Private maps?

moved from Guild Wars 2 Wiki talk:How to help

hi all still waiting for gw two im going to sound noob lol in gw2 are there any like private party maps like gw1 if you go out of the town its only you and your party on the map. bocoz my bigges consern is that like in 2moon the pvp and pve world is one meaning that some lvl80 can attack and kill you at any time. im a pve player. only thing what put me off 2 moon (ok game play is realy bad) is the fact that i walk and fight my backside off to get somewhere and then some stupid lvl higher than me attackes me and then i need to respawn back where i was and do everything again.

hope someone can clear this up

sign drank --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Drank was betrokke (talk).

I presume drank is your char name or whatever. Two things. First use 4 Tildes (~) to sign your posts on talk pages. Second, if GW2 operates as GW does, which is a good presumption, the only common areas where something like that would happen are in the arenas where you go in to them to fight others, and, in GW anyway, certain map areas of Factions. Under otherwise normal Gameplay, when you exit a town or outpost, the game creates an individual map area that is occupied by everyone in your party, and no inter-party fighting is possible. 69.183.22.23 15:52, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

From gw to gw2

We all know about the rewards you get from filling out your HoM. But i was wondering how you show that you are the same person from gw1, and that you did fill your HoM, in gw2. Will it be based on using the same account name ex. blabla@blablabla.bla because I really dont want to use the same account name that my gw1 account is using cuz its ancient and I cant change it. I've made loads of new mailing addresses that I want to use.

Anyone know anything?

We know that an in-game item will allow the accounts to be linked, if that's what you're asking. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 16:43, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

this is what i want to know too as i no longer have acsess to the e-mail i use for gw1 and if you have to link the accounts through that e-mail, then i, and probably many other people, are in trouble. i really want to be able to use my rewards from the HoM and would like to know exactly the process of linking my gw1 account with my gw2 account (Eculiny 01:34, 3 April 2011 (UTC))

Hi Eculiny; Unfortunately we know very little about how the accounts will actually be linked. It could be done through an NCSoft Master Account which doesn't necessarily use the same email address as the game log in, or a code you enter into the game or a log in from one game to another. I doubt they would force you to have matching log in information. Unfortunately this is all speculation - you'll have to wait until the game is closer to release for a real answer from the developers. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 03:57, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

User Interface Modifications

Has ArenaNet said anything about user created UI mods? --Alexridiculous 09:16, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

They have not announced the introduction of player mods, but they have announced that UI will be customizable. How much and in what way these customizations will be possible are unknown. For reference, mods were disallowed in GW1, and to be on the safe side, you should apply this to GW2 until further notice. - Infinite - talk 13:37, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Unless I misunderstand what you mean by UI mods (makes me think Texmod), they weren't disallowed so much as you use them at your own risk, and if they violate the ToS then it's your own fault for using them. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 15:50, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Texmod modifies the textures directly inside the graphic card memory and lets the game files unchanged. That's probably why it was tolerated. A "mod" changing the data in gw.dat was never - and will probably never be - allowed. Chriskang 18:53, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Then yes, that's my misunderstanding. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 20:39, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

hey. does all races start at level one, i saw in the demo on youtube that for example the race Charr starts in level 45. so in the real game does Charr then also start in level 45. that would be really cool if they did.

To make people go through the effort of leveling someone to 45 just to make a Charr... no, that's still retarded.

Dynamic event cycles

On the official Guild Wars 2 website in the section of 'Dynamic Events', it says that the quests and events tha you complete will change the landscape and the world around you. But, as these dynamic events will obviously be on a cycle and will keep repeating themselves, will the landscape reset itself before the event happens again to keep the consistency? Surely this is the case otherwise the land would be a barron wasteland from all the battles continuously going on. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:212.159.119.133 (talk).

As you say, it is a cycle. From what we've heard the repair of the landscape is part of the event cycle, a bridge destroyed by the enemy is rebuilt if you push them back for long enough, cannons rebuilt, towns reoccupied etc.
And honestly I don't think the event system is that far reaching in terms of changing the underlying landscape over time. I think each map has a fixed sort of terrain appearance, the location and action of the monsters and the state of things in that terrain might change but the rest not really. Though I'm willing to be surprised about this. :) I'm thinking of the Gendarran Fields area shown in the demo, a portion of that map appeared a constant wasteland where the human and centaur clash time and again. You actions probably don't change the appearance of that land. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 12:03, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
The landscape itself probably doesn't change; I think that statement has more to do with the things that are in the landscape, such as the houses in a town (how they get burned down when occupied), the centaur siege weapons (which collapse when you "kill" them), things like that. The siege weapons won't suddenly respawn, the town won't suddenly be saved, but there will always be a way to push it back or a way that the event cycles and starts over, depending on the type. (Escorts and such will probably start on a timer.) --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 19:56, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Try dodging something coming at you by jumping up vs taking a step to the side. It doesn't even have to be a game mechanics thing, you just won't be able to get your body far enough to be able to doge :P --zeeZ 15:14, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Earth Attunement

As far as I know, there are only 3 skills for the elementalist under the 'earth' category, which are churning earth, stoneflesh aura and eruption. I was wondering if there are any plans to add significantly more skills under the 'Earth attribute' by the time GW2 is released. It seems kind of pointless and it is disappointing to see an element with such creative possibilities to be thrown to the bottom of the bin with a measley 3 skills in favour of the generic fire and water elements, which are in my opinion way over-developed in the 'mage' class in almost every MMORPG. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:90.192.250.181 (talk).

As your wrote there are no info available to us about earth attunement skills, but there will be the same amount of skills just like in fire, air and water attunement. Probably we know more from Comic Con, Gamescom and PAX. 91.82.146.119 14:33, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

All the required earth attunement skills will be present at game release time due to the fact that the first 5 skills are based on your choice of weapon(s). Latency

moved from Help:Ask a wiki question

I live in south africa, first will there be any chance of me playing on a low latency server ? if not i'll have about 450 MS, will that make it harder to play or will it still be fine? i intend to play either way tbh ^^ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 196.215.147.101 (talk).

Due to latency issues in GW1, GW2 was designed with less latency-dependency. For this reason, interrupts were removed from the game. I am sure you should still have a very nice experience. If all else fails, you may want to port forward GW2 when the time comes to improve connection. - Infinite - talk 18:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Mechanics

  • The charr runs using all four legs, yet you can use the shortbow while moving. How does the charr manage this?
  • Weapons will have to be scaled, so charr aren't using swords the size of needles, and asura swords bigger than them. Assuming that both asura and charr warriors have the same meelee range, wont it look like the asura is missing?
  • Can you go into downed mode while swimming?
  • Can you jump off cliffs, and what are the effects of this ( eg knockdown for enemies you land on)?
  • So you have a mechanic to replace all of our skills while underwater. Although you can't confirm this, we know it will be a spear/harpoon or something along those lines. Won't whatever mechanic you use give an advantage to the heavy armoured classes?

Thank you for taking the time to answer some of these questions. 212.139.242.41 13:28, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

  • Charr can also stand and move (albeit slower) on their hind legs.
  • It probably will appear that way, but we haven't yet had the chance to observe asura characters in melee battle.
  • Unknown at this time.
  • Since there is no enemy-collision (and no bodyblock), you land on their location without any effects. This might change still.
  • There are dedicated underwater weapon slots at the moment. This may be an indication of specific equipment. Spears/harpoons are not on the definite weapon list and will thus (very likely) not be included. The 5 weapon skills are likely to change underwater as well. The exact details are unknown.
I hope this helps. - Infinite - talk 14:36, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

I doubt we will know until game release... Aqua (T|C) 23:34, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

CE

When will CE of the game be released at GameStop?

What will be in the CE as well?

We don't even know when the actual game release is. Time will tell.
Wait and see I guess. Aqua (T|C) 04:35, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Skill bar hotkeys

Will you be able to change the hotkeys for your skill bar? so using "r" intead of "8", or something like that. the reason is that it would be a bit of effort to reach the other end of the keyboard to cast ^^ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.54.202.218 (talk).

This is a game question, not a wiki question, so I've moved it to the FAQ. Anyway, I don't think we know yet, but I assume you'll be able to. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 20:18, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Holy Batman!

A release date?!? amazing! It'll be an educated guess at best, but at least now we have an actual date to look forward to :D 199.245.34.11 12:06, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

As noted in the revert, the November date is merely a vendor-issued placeholder that has been in place for a long time. Dates like these ones as found on other websites are not released by ArenaNet and are unfortunately not official. When the release date is announced, there will be at least one official posting about it that can and should be sourced in an update to this page. Redshift 12:16, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Can change weapons during Combat?

I mean can I select one weapon from my Bag when I in Combat? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:119.246.117.217 (talk).

We've been told that during combat you can only use your weapon set switch, you can't pull stuff from your bag. I'm not sure that they've implemented that yet because I don't think we saw the demo with any restrictions. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 23:03, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Why does Anet always have a demo at comic con & other events, but no demo to play?

I don't understand why so many demos to play at these events yet, there is no demos to play. So, it's good enough for events, but not good enough for the players to test out at home? I'm totally baffled by this. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Christisrose (talk).

Server, technology and security issues, probably. They also want to make it available to people in full scale when it's ready, as you know. :) Mediggo 20:51, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
One of the perks to attending these conferences. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:33, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Because the game isn't "done" yet, and having it playable at home will give people the idea that any of the issues they have now will still exist at release. The game has been changed in a thousand ways since the demo at Gamescom 2010, and having a demo that anyone could play from anywhere, from then until now, would be the equivalent of having an open beta before the closed beta. (The demos kind of act as random-selection closed betas for troubleshooting, if you ask me.)
Also, since they only had two areas available for play at the first demo, imagine having the demo at home, completing those areas before the Norn were even playable, and then completing each area sequentially as they released it, as things were being changed in ways you might not understand. It would probably kill a lot of the hype for the game's release. They have to compete with currently-existing MMOs which have updated hundreds of times since their actual release dates, and have content to match them and keep players interested.
There are any number of reasons for it besides, but the gist of it is the game isn't done yet. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 17:33, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

What steps are you taking to prevent hacking from Guild Wars 2?

With all these account attacks, we need pins for our accounts. We have with pins for our utility companies, and banks, etc. What do you plan to do about these in Guild Wars 2? It's not right to get hacked and then get nothing back when you're hacked. Something needs to take place with the current Guild Wars, and whenever Guild Wars 2 comes out. We don't live in a world where people respect other people therefore, we need more than what we have now to keep things pleasant for everyone. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Christisrose (talk).

We on the wiki are not ArenaNet, so we are not the "you" you're directing the question at. Devs have said they're taking measures to prevent hacking but no specifics yet. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 01:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Kyoshi is right, but it doesn't matter how many security measures Anet put in place; if players aren't taking responsibility and making use of the obvious securities, then adding more isn't really going to make a difference:
  • Make sure your game password is not the same password used for anywhere else. Also make sure that your password uses a combination of letters and numbers. Adding symbols (i.e. !@&*) will also greatly improve the strength of your password. Finally, don't use obvious passwords, like "Password1".
  • Don't log on a computer that doesn't have some kind of protection against hackers. Windows firewall may be relatively basic and deemed "crappy" by some, but it keeps out bots and casual hackers that might think they're getting lucky. Obviously, do some research and try to find something better. There are some good programs out there that are also free to use.
  • Keep your purchase receipt and the 16 or 20-digit access key-card that you get with your game. The receipt isn't 100% necessary but it can help. You'll have to fax these to them if your account does unfortunately get hacked and they want proof that the account actually is yours (that's what I had to do when mine got hacked one time.)
Probably didn't need to go all out, but there you go. :) --Xu Davella 02:45, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Seriously, most of the time people are hacked because they downloaded some dumbass third party program. Third party programs run the potential of keyloggers (and other hacks) that are engineered to hack playable accounts. The only security you need is to play smart. Don't use third party applications (they aren't needed) and be serious with your password (see above). Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:30, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2 Release Date Edit?

I noticed that the release date mentioned for Guild Wars 2 is set at "when it's ready." Though this is ArenaNet's offical standing point so far, a lot of gaming site's/ companies are gearing toward 28 November of this year. In fact, if you call gamestop right now, that is what they should tell you. My point: think it's worth adding that to the FAQ? I mean, give the "when it's ready" statement, followed by that suggested date (providing GameStop & GameSpot as sources)? --SpiritSplit 01:00, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Never mind, looks like these dates are just place holder's. I think these dates are still possible, however, pointless to add place holders. --SpiritSplit 01:42, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Not likely, not official, and not going on the FAQ. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 02:21, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Gaming retailers will do this to encourage people to buy the pre-orders from them. It doesn't mean anything unless Anet confims it. --Xu Davella 03:42, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I found out they were just place holder's for thier cpu's for purposes of pre-ordering, with a bit more research. It's just upsetting that if you ask, they flat out tell you that malarki. Sell, Sell, Sell, I suppose. --SpiritSplit 15:59, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Or NCSoft. Mediggo 16:20, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Defiantly NCSoft... They were highly annoying on Gamescom Tomoko 11:35, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Publishers are required to post a date so that proper promotion can be done, and I believe it still is a 60 day lead time (it was at least 60 days and preferably 90 when I worked in the industry). Since the game is promised in 2012, some sites are putting it at Dec 31, 2012. --Falseprophet 22:50, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

What is the deal with the six gods?

Why are they silent? Are they still recovering from the war or is the dragons power keeping them at bay? Have they faced the dragons in the past? Did they know of the dragons? I would like some answers. User:Angel

You won't get them from us because we don't know. This is stuff we'll find out (maybe) when the game is actually released. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 05:06, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
See the Guild Wars Wiki article on the Exodus of the Gods - I don't know how to link to GWW articles here, but it'll tell you why they're acting more New Testament than Old. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Thunderduck (talk).
You can link to GW1 articles by using [[gw1:Article]]. And that piece explains why they left Tyria (a thousand-some years prior to GW1), but not why they're quieter and more distant in GW2. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 06:16, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Your description: Human biography. Why they are silent: we dont know! Are they still recovering from the war: with the fact that the war is still going on, I dont think so. Is the dragons power keeping them at bay: we will find out at release. Did they know of the dragons: the dwarves are thought to know about them, and the gods were one of the first beings of Tyria, and so comes with the fact that you cant beginn sleeping without being awake first. The gods should probably know about them. Lhimez 07:20, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Obliterate

moved from Help:Ask a wiki question

Under the Warrior section of the wiki, Obliterate is an example of a charge skill, but the move obliterate is not listed in the warrior skill list. It says it is mace main-hand, but its just not listed there. What does this mean and where does this Obliterate skill fit in? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.176.91.55 (talk).

Good eye. Obliterate used to be a skill, but I do believe it is outdated. The icon is now used for the skill Crushing Blow. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 04:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
