The Exalted were not well prepared. The price for victory was too high.

There was no hope. A noble sacrifice had to be made to save Tarir.

Defenders fought valiantly, but a sacrifice was needed to protect Tarir.

Defenders of Tarir have saved the city. The Exalted rejoice.

I have yet to ever see a Tier 3 Meta and have found a little difference with the percentages, as listed on the page. Checking % ranges:

  • Tier 1 Exalted Keys: 1 awarded with participation of 25-45-?%, 2 with 83-?%
  • Tier 2 Exalted Keys: 1 awarded with participation of 43-74%, 2 with 88-99%, 3 with 122-137?%
  • Tier 3 Exalted Keys: 2 awarded with participation of 42-43%
  • Tier 4 Exalted Keys: 0 awarded with participation less than 22%, 4 with 27-74%, 6 with 75-99%, 7 with 100-200%

Confirmed T4 29% Adeira Tasharo (talk) 03:42, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
A level 43 with 77% participation achieved Tier 4 and received 12,018 Experience.png. They likely had the 10% Nourishment (Birthday Blaster).png Guild Experience Boost.
If this is unaffected by the buff, this is ~33.11% of the 36,300 indicated on Experience#Leveling table needed to level up. If it is affected, the base XP may be 11007 and about 30.32%.
At level 80, 93,345 of 254,000, is 36.75%. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 17:45, 28 January 2023 (UTC)

Participation research, based on Westwatch[edit]

  • 0, 25% - being in the "skritt shop" when someone else wins an armor. Attempting to purchase does not seem required, but not attempting does not always award. (10/16/18 - ?12% for not attempting and event failing, then 25% for winning the armor.)
  • 25% - winning an armor. Does not always credit if you've gotten as a bystander?
  • up to 18% - mustering Mordrem event. 2% per wave in which you participate. Credit is sometimes gained even if you do not participate directly.
  • 25% - complete the mustering Mordrem event
  • 25, 50% - Destroy the vines blocking the door -- 25% if you barely participate?
    • 25% if you participate but it fails.
  • 5% observed? - contributing to the fight against the Octovine - possible sources: 1% each? Octo vulnerable, killing a Stomper or Mordrem, ?getting to vine as a Mushroom
  • 70% - completing the meta. Possibly less if low contribution? ...got 2% right at end (part of the time dead) which went to 60% with completion.

Rebuilding meta events as a table[edit]

A test build of the meta events table for replacement of the existing list of events. The main motivation here is to restructure according to the four entry points into Tarir, as current meta event entries are not well correlated.

I've had to use a number of text shortening of descriptions to help make the table fit more cleanly.

Comments welcome before making the main page edit.

--BEGIN EDIT, REPLACES ENTIRE SECTION

Complete the Trial by Fire pre-event challenges to earn Enchanted Armor(s) for the battle ahead.

Defeat all of the octovines in the Battle in Tarir (meta event) within a co-ordinated 2 minute time window. The time window starts when the first octovine reaches zero health. If the time window expires then the octovines regenerate some health and the group event mechanic has to be repeated until successful, or the global event timer runs out and the event fails.

Few things i'd suggest; numbered for ease of reference, in case needed:
  1. Change "Nearest start" to either "Nearest waypoint" or "Closest waypoint".
  2. Order the table rows by the cardinal directions from north to west.
  3. Use the {{waypoint|<waypoint name or id>}} template instead of prefixing the icon seperatelly. This'll also include the waypoints chat codes.
  4. Instead of literal linebreaks use <br> instead such that the cells don't include random spacing introduced by the paragraph elements that the literal linebreaks cause.
  5. Dont include the style="width:100%;max-width:800px;"}} bit as that'll only limit the table from being as wide as it needs to be given its contents in order to neatly show everything in one line witout producing excess empty space provided enough available screenspace. Also, the two braces at the end of that bit are erroneous wiki formatting.
  6. While granted difficult to spot; try not to introduce new trailing spacing with the table if you can, as it has here at the end of the last two |- class="line" lines.
  7. Possibly change "Destroy" to "Defeat".
  8. Possibly end with "at which point the event fails" or similar.
  9. Possibly leave out the "map co-ordinated" bit as i think it's unnecessary; so maybe don't.
  10. Possibly change "regenerate some health" to "regenerate half of their total health" as that's what i think their healths increase by altough i'm also not all to certain about it as i didn't ever pay close attention to it; so maybe leave it as is.

Thank you for the detailed review. Here are the changes I've made
  1. Closest Waypoint
  2. Re-ordered (to be fair it was the original ordering on the page)
  3. Updated - I took the format from another page and didn't realise there was a template
  4. Updated to use <br>
  5. Removed table width limitations
  6. Trailing spaces removed
  7. Destroy -> defeat
  8. Added
  9. Removed "map" but retained co-ordinated. While the event is now mature, there are still new people arriving. The time window is displayed, but also easily overlooked.
  10. I left it deliberately vague. Somewhere between 33% and 40% I think, but I don't think that level of detail is useful.
I'll promote this to the main page, and then further edits can take place there.

You're welcome. Few comments of mine regarding:
#2 I figured; but when better to sort it than as part of another edit that's going to take place anyways, so i suggested it.
#3 Which is totally fine. If you recall where you have it from you're welcome to change it to use the tamplate there too if appropriate for the place; only if you'd like to of course.
#9 Great reasoning. I can see how that might be the case.
#10 I see. I guess it might not be useful a lot indeed.
And by the way you wouldn't have needed to change it here first before doing that. (As talk page comments usually aren't edited significantly after. (But i'm not sure to which degree this wiki adheres to that. (Or what constitutes significancy. (Either way, you can probably leave it as is now.)))) Nightsky (talk) 01:52, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Move proposal[edit]

I propose moving this page to "Battle in Tarir" because this is the map meta event and should take naming priority over its sub-events. I propose moving the page for the sub-event Battle in Tarir to "Battle in Tarir (meta event)".Warming Hearth (talk) 16:49, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
