- Chapter 2: Sins of the Father
Dialogue[edit]
- Welcome to Tribune Brimstone's office. I'm Laria Sharpeye, his aide-de-camp. Is there something I can help you with?
- (If joined an order)
- The tribune has taken a temporary leave from the Black Citadel. I believe he has gone south to Lion's Arch. Are there any other questions I can answer for you?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (Same as below)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
Where is Tribune Brimstone?
- I can't speak for the entire Black Citadel, but I mostly handle logistics and organization. Tribune Brimstone is very busy in the field, so I manage the flow of information to and from his office.
- Leadership? I'd enjoy that. But at some point in the future...the distant future. I have so much to learn, but there's no better teacher and role model than Tribune Brimstone.
- I feel the same way. Good luck, and good-bye.
Important work. I wonder if the tribune is grooming you for a leadership position.
- warband think of your job?
- They mostly think office work suits me. I'm too..."soft-hearted and shy" is the nicest way to put it. They usually use other words. The plain fact is, I'm better at planning than I am at fighting.
- I'd say Rytlock knows your worth far better than they do. Good-bye.
What does your - Challenging...exacting...but I enjoy it. He's even given me clearance to issue some orders in his name. I think it amuses him to see senior officers take direction from someone they outrank.
- Fascinating. Good-bye for now.
What's it like working for Tribune Brimstone?
- I see. And from the way you're staring, I see you have a question for me. (same as below)
- Thanks for the information. Good-bye.
Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do?
- (if a ranger)
- Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I was just admiring your companion. I'm a ranger myself, and I was curious. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?
- (if a charr ranger)
- What animal do you think makes the best companion? Some swear by devourers, but they've always seemed a bit cold to me. I need a pet whose mood I can read. What do you think?
- Hmm... interesting. Oh, excuse me. I'm supposed to be answering your questions. What were they again?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (same as above)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
Ranger and pet need to work together. Try out a devourer and see if it suits you.
- [sic] Sounds like your mind's made up. You don't need me: trust your instincts. Good-bye
I'd be happy to. Ask away.
- (if an asura ranger)
- Asura, mostly. Do asura rangers have pets? Someone once said "asura have golems, not pets." Of course, he was an idiot, so I hit him with a bottle. Er...did I mention we were drinking at the time? That's why there was a bottle handy.
- I guess there are plenty of animals around Rata Sum. Oh, excuse me. I'm supposed to be answering your questions. What were they again?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (same as above)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
Asuran rangers aren't common, but they do tame animals too.
Curious about what?
- (if a human ranger)
- I've been pondering the human choice of companions. Even in the Citadel, we hear good things about the tenacity and power of the Krytan drakehounds. But I worried that my comrades would sneer at me if I befriended one...
- Hm... interesting. Oh, excuse me. I'm supposed to be answering your questions. What were they again?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (same as above)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
The bond with your companion is all that matters. Let others worry about their own choices.
- A dog in a city full of cats? Interesting choice. Good-bye.
It's a bit odd... but no, I don't mind.
- (if a sylvari ranger)
- I know the least about sylvari's pets. I hear their dogs are made of vines. Do they come from the same great Tree as the sylvari? And if they revere all plant life, where do the dogs relieve themselves?
- Hm... interesting. Oh, excuse me. I'm supposed to be answering your questions. What were they again?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (same as above)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
They are, indeed, made of vines. However, I know nothing of their...objects of relief.
- I'm afraid I'm not well-versed in the bathroom habits of sylvari dogs. Good-bye.
I love talking with fellow rangers. What's on your mind?
- (if a norn ranger)
- I appreciate the reverence the norn have for the spirits of the wild, but it always seemed strange to befriend the object of your worship.
- Hm... interesting. Oh, excuse me. I'm supposed to be answering your questions. What were they again?
- Tell me, what does a tribune's aide-de-camp do? (same as above)
- No, that's all I needed to know. Good-bye.
I believe it's like a part of a greater whole. The claw isn't the hand or the arm or the whole body.
- I'm sorry, but questions of theology make me uneasy. Good-bye.
I'd be happy to! Ask me anything.
- I can't chat right now, but I'll be back soon. Maybe I can answer your questions then.
From the way you're staring, I'd say you have a question for me.
- Nothing right now. Good-bye.
