ArenaNet Q & A

Shortcut:
GW2W:QA

The purpose of this project is to get answers related to content that we can't easily discern in-game and that we can use to improve the wiki, not just out of idle curiosity. This is also a way to, for instance, flesh out more threadbare content or clear up speculated and disputed info. Simply ask your question below, and once we have a reasonable number (it could depend on the complexity of the questions too) of questions, they will be emailed to Stephane and he will respond here with answers if he can.

Current Questions[edit]

  • Looking to find images for some historical items: did the Scholar's Outfit get turned into the Endless Common Clothing Tonic? Also do you have any images of Baron Wycker? He was a NPC from Halloween 2012 that was the only source of information on the Bloody Prince, and he seems to be (from the one youtube video I found) a unique looking NPC. - Doodleplex 20:50, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
  • You may not be able to answer this as it's quite old now, but according to the German wiki version of Villager (Thunder Ridge), de:Dorfbewohnerin (Donnergrat), that NPC was later changed and renamed into Peneloopee. Was this change for the German version only or across all versions? - Doodleplex 21:16, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
  • This is probably a "generic voice was used", but I'm pretty sure that Vigil Crusader Jevaran and Bell Maestro use the same voice, and they have similar sound/intonations as the voice for Trahearne who was voiced by Matthew Brenher. Any chance he did lend his voice to those two NPCs? - Doodleplex 22:52, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
  • Are [[Durmand Prior Staff]], [[Durmand Prior Mace]], [[Durmand Prior Speargun]], [[Durmand Prior Focus]], [[Durmand Prior Trident]], and [[Durmand Prior Harpoon]] spelt like that intentionally or was it supposed to say Durmand Priory? - Doodleplex 17:33, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Do we have a defined race for Mursaat Overseer? Is it even a conscious entity, or is it just a construct similar to jade constructs? So far the stand on Samarog has been to give no race due to statements from devs saying they want its origins to remain mysterious, should it be kept as `unknown`, or do we have a set race? Also, confirming, Deimos is considered a Demon, correct? -Darqam 17:24, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Is the ArenaNet non-standard item naming for the Giver's weapons intentional? If the naming discrepancy is unintentional, is there a chance that the ArenaNet naming will be updated to match the convention used by the other discoverable weapons? Jesself 18:01, 7 April 2017 (UTC) Similarly, why the naming inconsistency with tier 4 and 5 Giver's armor insignias? (they are embroidered instead of intricate in name, but otherwise behave the same) What Giver's? Jesself 20:53, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
  • We know that there are 24 basic chests hidden in Auric Basin (and the exact number was stated once in a batch of patch notes). Tangled Depths has quite a few basic chests as well — is it known how many there are in total? It would be useful in compiling a list such as this one. • The wiki is currently missing data from the March sale of 2013, more specifically, data on which items were on sale during the 25th and the 31st of March. Does Commerce still have access to this missing information (and would they share it with the wiki)? User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 08:18, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
  • The saurian champ bag (Fallen Adventurer's Backpack [&AgE/rQAA] - id 44351) is the only one we know of that utilizes the new preview feature, where you can see some of the things you can receive from opening the bag. The preview is overwhelmed by the wide variety of possible drops, but it gives a good look at some of the top tier items available from it. When you look at the preview with a level 80 character, it displays a list of fairly standard exotic weapons. When you look at it with a level 39 character, you can see one of the available drops is Arkhalos; oddly enough, this named weapon isn't listed for the level 80 character.
Obviously, the range of fair/masterwork gear from the pack will be scaled to the opener's level. But what about the named exotics? Can you only get this rare skin from the champ bag if you open it with a severely underleveled character? And is that mechanic true across other champ bags? Or is Arkhalos not shown to a level 80 character simply because of limitations to the preview window? SarielV 20 x 20px 20:50, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Is "Exemplar Kerida" voiced by her original voice actress or did someone new do it? - Doodleplex 22:18, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Is Elona viewed only as a nation or is it also a continent (whether because of plate tectonics or politico-cultural reasons) in-universe? If Elona is a continent of its own, does the Crystal Desert then belong to the Elonian continent by association rather than Central Tyrian continent as the map would suggest? In GW1 Elona was mentioned as a continent although back then it seemed to be for gameplay mechanics reasons only, and currently there's been debates in wiki community about what to list Elona as because of various sources with potentially conflicting information. For reference, in the Priory map of the whole world Elona is shown as part of the bigger Tyrian (super)continent, but it's unclear whether the Tyrian supercontinent (which includes Central Tyria, Heart of Maguuma etc.) has similar continental divisions like we have with e.g. Europe and Asia. --Kossage (talk) 17:40, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Who voices Kormir, Lazarus and the Luminate? --Kossage (talk) 17:45, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
