  • Is the location of Large Airship Cargo random now? Before it seemed to have a certain spawn point (such as after the canopy bosses).
  • We currently have actress Ellen Dubin listed as having voiced three npcs of whom I can't seem to find in the game. Did these characters get renamed or did they never make it in game. If not, are there any characters in the game that she voice?

  • Are currencies similar to items in function? For example, Immediate type consumable items are used to give currency upon receipt. Currencies now appear in the item drop indicator UI. You can purchase a currency for an item from Krewe Researcher (Cryptobotanist). Do they share any properties with items like id, icon, description, type, and rarity?--Relyk ~ talk < 02:10, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

  • (If anyone can find the icons & upload them, please remove this question) I asked Darqam to find two icons, and he tried, but had no luck nor has any idea where they could be: File:PvE Processing Line icon.png and a white versions of World vs. World mist war icon.png in the .dat for the wiki's usage. Can these please be provided? - Doodleplex 22:08, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
  • Is there any way for a member of the wiki crew (or anyone really) to get access to the information of when a certain item is removed/added to the gemstore. I'm not talking about advance notification, but maybe an entry in the API (or other method) that "item X removed on DD/MM/YYYY" and/or "item Y addedd on DD/MM/YYYY". Even just the removed option would be fantastic since that is not often broadcasted, but the addition often is. -Darqam (talk) 17:29, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
  • What race are the Sloth/slublings? Are they their own race or part of an existing one? - Doodleplex 18:37, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
  • Regarding this edit, is it the correct and intended interpretation of leyline energy or just a fan theory that doesn't conflict with official lore? - Felix Omni 17:16, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
  • In Heart of Thorns, nearly every new exotic weapon does choking damage. Was there a point to this? SarielV 20 x 20px 19:04, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Bitterfrost Frontier; Far Shiverpeaks or no? So far the plan is to see if it responds to daily shiverpeaks gatherings, but it would be nice to have an official word on it. -Darqam 01:35, 29 November 2016 (UTC) - Answer can be found at main project talk page, as it was not moved in order to be easier to find for general users.

Answers to September-November questions

Hi,

Sorry for the time it took me to get these answers (I'm still working on one), due to both me being busy at the end of this year and also the variety and depth of the questions. I hope these answers provide the information that wiki editors need. Let me know if you have any question about this! Thank you and I want to wish all the wiki editor a nice 2016 holiday period and look forward to working with all of you in 2017 :) Thanks for your work here on the wiki!

  • We currently have actress Ellen Dubin listed as having voiced three npcs of whom I can't seem to find in the game. Did these characters get renamed or did they never make it in game. If not, are there any characters in the game that she voice?

ANSWER: Before I answer the question, I want to clarify that we use internal names that do not correspond to NPCs. These names are “generic race and gender voices” that are then matched to a lot of NPCs. We cannot share these mappings because they’re complex and can change (and also some of them could be spoilers). We’ve seen a lot of interest (in particular on the wiki) about voices in Guild Wars 2 but we don’t think that this is a topic that we can help with, unless it’s about a specific NPC or story step. The precise information about which the 4 NPCs that Ellen Dubin voices in Guild Wars 2 should give you an idea of the complexity of the question:

  • A Priory norn in the Halloween 2012 content.
  • Mighty Grika – This is a generic voice role that was used for 83 NPCs, none of which were called Mighty Grika. Getting a complete list of those would be a lot of work, but this is basically a generic asura female voice.
  • Torrun – Another generic voice role. This one is a norn female, and it was used for 81 NPCs.
  • Tyrana Taskjaw – And another generic voice role. Charr female, used for 75 NPCs.
  • Justiciar Hablion was voiced by Steve Blum in GW1. Did he voice him again as Ghostly Justiciar Hablion or is it a different voice actor?

ANSWER: Ghostly Justiciar Hablion was voiced in Guild Wars 2 by John DiMaggio.

  • Are currencies similar to items in function? For example, Immediate type consumable items are used to give currency upon receipt. Currencies now appear in the item drop indicator UI. You can purchase a currency for an item from Krewe Researcher (Cryptobotanist). Do they share any properties with items like id, icon, description, type, and rarity?
    • As another possible example, the Guild Armorer 1 upgrade refers to Guild Favor as a "Collectable" with item ID 70701, and Aetherium as a "Currency" with no item ID.

ANSWER: Currencies are not similar to items in function. An item is a fully formed object that has many properties defined and can have its own unique functionality through definition. Currencies are defined with only a name, description, icon, and Currency ID, which is different from an Item ID. You cannot attach any functionality to them. The Wallet defines the categories and which currency fits into which category. Immediate consumables are merely granting currency. Note however that many currencies were once items and therefore do have items that exist for them, but that is a separate thing and those items are not used for anything.

ANSWER: I’m still working with some developers on getting you the answer to this question. I’ll share an update when I’m back at the office in the new year.

  • Why was Farmer Niklas removed from the game? Was he moved somewhere else, removed by accident or something else?

ANSWER: As said above, a lot of changes to various parts of the game are done and it's hard to track why a particular change was made. We're looking into his “disappearance”.

  • What race are the Sloth/slublings? Are they their own race or part of an existing one?

ANSWER: Slothasor and the Sloth Queen were ordinary sloths that were mutated by excess magic that was released when Mordremoth was killed. The slublings are offspring. They’re unique creatures and not sloths in the traditional sense.

  • What is the official name of renown hearts now that they're re-introduced in Rising Flames as "Task Heart"?

ANSWER: We have decided to call them "Daily Renown Region" to be consistent with previous content.

  • Is the location of Large Airship Cargo random now? Before, it seemed to have a certain spawn point (such as after the canopy bosses).

ANSWER: The vast majority of the Large Airship Cargos spawned in random points of the map, while some were in specific locations above the sky boss platforms. When we revisited the event-specific reward chest, we removed the specifically-spawned Large Airship Cargo on the platforms since they were originally only there to make up for the event-chests.

  • In Heart of Thorns, nearly every new exotic weapon does choking damage. Was there a point to this?

ANSWER: There was no particular intention behind this part of the weapon damage, and it was probably part of how they originally got created.

ANSWER: I already answered that question here. In short, this is something we’ve usually done in the release notes.

  • I asked Darqam to find two icons, and he tried, but had no luck nor has any idea where they could be: PvE Processing Line icon.png and a white versions of World vs. World mist war icon.png in the .dat for the wiki's usage. Can these please be provided?

ANSWER: Let me remind everyone that looking into the .dat file is against our Terms of Use. I’ll see what I can do about getting those pictures.

And this is the last answer on my list:
* Regarding this edit(https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Waypoint&type=revision&diff=1292331&oldid=1219676), is it the correct and intended interpretation of leyline energy or just a fan theory that doesn't conflict with official lore?
ANSWER: Please be aware that tweets by employees from their personal accounts are not meant as canon or official communication. (Peter wasn’t commenting about the story and the world, as much as engaging with the Guild Wars 2 community in a lighthearted way.) We want fans to understand that certain details of the lore are developed over time, or when the story requires it, which is why we sometimes don’t define minute details in precise terms (e.g. the analogy to photons). I hope that this will help clarify the following answer . As far as we can tell, the two aspects that are referenced (frequency and rate) seem consistent, although the first talks about waypoints while the second is relative to leyline energy.
