Raid Reset Time Confirmation[edit]

Completed VG at 00:18 UTC-8 on 01/18/2016 and received rewards. Completed VG ~16 hours later and did not receive rewards, suggesting raid reset is not at 00:30 UTC-8 as stated. Anybody else able to second?

Raid Reset Time had been changed with ninja patch by Anet. It's no longer 8:30 UTC, much earlier.

Weekly key from low level personal story[edit]

Looks like it reset with a weekly server reset. I didn't test it early enough to know if it's based on the guild mission reset or the world vs world reset.
At this time it is not based on when the last key was gained. XeroKitsune (talk) 16:01, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Judging by this post, it shares its reset timer with guild missions. —Ventriloquist 16:15, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Three articles, one purpose[edit]

I've noticed that we have three articles with essentially the same information in them: server reset, time-gated, and automated changes. I understand that these articles have subtly different focuses and all three deserve to exist, but in their current state, they seem messy. I propose moving the bulk of the "here are the things that reset and this is when it happens" information to one article, and trimming the other two down to a more basic summary. (With a link to the more comprehensive article, of course.) --Idris (talk) 15:59, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Which piece of information is correct regarding Guild Missions weekly reset time?[edit]

In this article, it says 7.30am Server Time.
Over here, it says 8.30am Sever Time.

What about Africa?[edit]

The article mentions everywhere the following : "This is (Monday/Friday) in the Americas, EU, Asia, & Oceanic zones." I would very much like to know why it is so specific and why it doesn't include Africa? I live in South Africa and all the information in this article is still true for me. Seems like some oversight. — Mythical moa (talk) 06:18, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Because the widget behind {{UTC time}} sucks. I tried to get it changed to support displaying the day in your local timezone, but it never happened, so we're stuck with these monstrosities and I've given up on even trying to fix this page until somebody with widget edit rights does something with the time widget. -- Dagger (talk) 12:19, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
For future reference, this eventually got updated in September 2016. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:37, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Change to NA WvW Reset Time[edit]

Made a change to the WvW server reset time on this page. After following the referenced link I found that NA reset takes place on Saturday at 2.00 UTC, not Friday at 2.00 UTC.

New to the wiki, I wasn't sure whether I had to post a talk topic about my change.

Empty Dragon Bash achievement notification[edit]

Recently noticed that at server reset an empty Dragon Bash achievement notification pops up with the daily chest. Anyone else has experienced this? -- kazerniel (talk) 00:03, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I have a screenshot relating it to the the recently added Fractal Fighter's Cache achievements. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 01:25, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Additional Vendors with Daily resets - 2021/07/24[edit]

I would like to add a full list of vendors which offer time-gated items or special discounts. For example, the vendor in Dragonfall Traveling Elonian Trader that sells LS4 map currency with a daily reset. --Lau Rena (talk) 07:14, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Server reset#Vendors is a manually edited list, so feel free. It is indeed out of date. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:21, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Releases & special events[edit]

re: User:Nightsky's editing summary:

  1. They might not technically be a server reset, but at the end of festivals and special events the maps and rewards do "reset" back into their regular state, so I think it's an important bit of info for visitors.
  2. By "major game updates" I meant the weekly updates on Tuesdays (rather than the bugfixes sprinkled throughout the week), which always drop roughly at the same time. I guess we can call them something else to make it more clear. For me Releases are only the ones shown on that page, the proper big updates.
  3. Iirc festivals end at 20:00 British winter time, but maybe special events end at "patch time", bc this Boss Rush already wasn't on at 19:10 UTC when I checked. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 19:33, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Diff link for context.
  1. While i understand what you mean; to me reset implies for the thing of which the progress resets to be available continously (or at least before and after the reset i suppose), while rewards may reset intermitently to be available again. By this understanding of mine festivals and special events do not fall into this category as they start and end instead; because while their progress may reset they cannot be progressed imidatelly before and after respectively. You're obviously free to dissagree with me here but now you know why i don't think they fit there.
  2. See that's what i figured it might be but i wasn't sure. Can we remove the "major game updates" then as this duplicates the releases timeframe?
  3. From what i checked (e.g. here, here, here or here to link a few that tell the time), festivals start at patch time (09:00 AM, Pacific (Standard/Daylight) Time) and end at noon Pacific (Standard/Dailight) Time. Special events seem to be pretty freeform in their starting/end times. The world boss rush event last time started after a patch after the EoD first look stream, the wvw bonus events start with.. what's the term.. match reset.. i think.. is there even a term.. the wiki has this on it, the pvp week start bonus events start at the time the pvp season starts and at least the return to rising flames special event started one minute after patch time.
Nightsky (talk) 20:52, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
I see your points. For #2 how about we call them "scheduled" or "regular" game updates? It doesn't imply magnitude, but shows their fixed schedule.
For #3 we could specify "PvE special events". Or even add "usually" if you want. Because aside of that one-off livestream, they always seem to start at patch time. We can remove the special events from the ending time entry, though I still suspect the PvE ones either reset at 9am ANet time or 12pm ANet time 🤔 (Probably 9am, judging by today.)
(Btw the wiki is having some issues today, I left a notice to the admins about it here.) -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 21:27, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
While "scheduled" or "regular" in of themselfs might not imply magnitude, them in combination with the "Weekly reset" above them would. And for for example this time there wasnt any patch at the "usuall" time, which would already make it incorrect.
"PvE special events" could work. And it's been 09:00 AM, ArenaNet time in the past when they (the return to ones) ended (or a minute after that). So at the verry least for those it should work; though i don't feel well with assuming it's the same for every other PvE event too. As far as i'm aware ArenaNet never released any shedule in that matter and i'm not sure specifing the most likely times is a good thing to do, as it could end up holding them to something they never explicitly stated.
(I'm aware. The wiki usually had that in the past with (at least some of) the return to special events too, though not as pronounced. I was merely poking fun at it happening yet again. It's been quite normal following some wiki update (didn't pay attention to which it was exactly (there've been more recent ones than listed there also)); appart from the duration on this one. Might be because it's the first time after the EoD stream and lots of people checking in on the wiki though; though also i have no idea if that's the case, but i'd assume so, while being fully aware of doing only that.) Nightsky (talk) 23:36, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
We could create a new section under "Weekly reset" called "Releases & special events", where we could put all the above info about when patches usually drop, when festivals and special events start and end in various game modes. I can't think of any other page where this information would better fit. Maybe the Notes section of the Releases page, but special events don't count as those kind of releases. (And a bit confusingly the Releases page calls festivals special events instead.) -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 01:37, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
How about the Notes section on the Release page (which already mentions the time) for releases and a new Notes section on the Special event page for special events (which as it will be the fourth heading should make a toc appear (though maybe using the TOCRight template will make it look neater, will have to see) and should make it easier to find even if it will be at the end of the page then)? Nightsky (talk) 18:52, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok, added Notes to the Special events and Festivals pages. I think the ToC looks fine on the left. If you can add anything specific about the start of PvP and WvW special events, feel free to. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 14:38, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh.. i didn't think you'd add something to festivals as i thought those count as releases and thus wouldn't need an extra mention. (Also, at least in the past, SAB usually released/activated on Thursdays.)
Either way, since the information's now on the individual articles i'll remove it from here. Nightsky (talk) 18:15, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, I forgot to remove it from here. I added it to Festivals for the ending time info, as regular releases don't have such. Feel free to add a bit about SAB if you want. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 02:24, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
You're welcome! And thank you for fixing my english! I see. I may have phrased that badly (as in that i didn't include what i thought (because i think technically the phrasing is fine)) while writing it so i'm not sure how obvious it was but by "in the past" i meant before they moved the timeframe of SAF in order for both it and april fools to stand out more individually. So it should be fine as is in regards to the SAF as i don't think it needs a historical mention. Nightsky (talk) 04:18, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
