Exalted Sages are Exalted spellcasters found in Auric Basin. They focus and direct the vast quantities of magic which their city, Tarir, requires to keep functioning. They also ensure that there is a steady supply of arcane energy flowing through Tarir and its watchposts for other Exalted to manipulate. The Sages' most important tasks, however, are the creation and maintenance of Tarir's rune-based teleportation system between the city and its watchposts.

We sages have an affiliation with the magic of the Forgotten. Because of this, we learned to activate our pylons and to summon enchanted armor to fight at our sides.

Where did the Forgotten come from, and who were they?

Long ago, the Forgotten allied with Glint in the Crystal Desert.

What happened to Glint?

A Forgotten spell granted Glint the free will to break from her Elder Dragon master, Kralkatorrik. Hundreds of years later, Kralkatorrik destroyed our beloved prophet for her betrayal.

What happened then?

Before her death, Glint charged the Forgotten with protecting her legacy. Once she was gone, they gathered her most loyal human allies and tested them to see which could be Exalted.

What is Glint's legacy, exactly?

No one knows...exactly. She had knowledge, thousands of years of it. Some of it she has stored with us. She also had offspring, one of which you have delivered to us, egg bearer.

Lore discrepancy:

One of the Exalted Sage's dialogues state that "Once [Glint] was gone, [the Forgotten] gathered her most loyal human allies and tested them to see which could be Exalted." However, Glint died in 1320 AE per Edge of Destiny, and the Exalted have been in hibernation for over a century per The Exalted: Pure Dedication and other dialogue.
