Defeat Mayatl the Fierce is a level 80 event that occurs in south Jaka Itzel, on a plateau above an abandoned Itzel village. Fight Champion Mayatl the Fierce of the Zintl hylek tribe on behalf of the Itzel by speaking to the Itzel Bladedancer on the west ledge of the plateau.

Notes

Bug:

If spawned first thing in the morning while the village is overrun by Mordrem, the event may start, but Mayatl does not appear. This permanently bugs the event for the map instance.

• The Itzel Leadership mastery is required for the Itzel Bladedancer to show the dialogue option to start the event, as well as to loot the Chest that appears after defeating Mayatl.
• The awarded mastery point is the only one in Heart of Thorns that is hidden by the lack of an achievement.
• If Stop sun zealots from indoctrinating the Itzel (80) is active, additional hostile Zintl mobs will periodically spawn next to Mayatl. This can make defeating Mayatl exceedingly difficult, especially if the unwanted mobs are scaled up to include Elites or even Champions.
