Auto-catigorization[edit]

Due to my intentions to create Category:Tokens, I'd like some insight on removing the automatic categorization from this template (to not double-up the categorization on Token). Alternatively we could implement a no categorization parameter. - Infinite - talk 09:52, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

I think it was discussed somewhere that tokens aren't really a currency (not sure if this is related...)? Removing "<includeonly>[[Category:Currencies]]</includeonly>" would, if I understood correctly, remove automatic categorization and we'd need to slap Category:Currencies on each currency page instead. Tokens are not deemed fit as a currency by the community, then there is little to no point to categorize Token the way it is now. I'll remove that category from Token. - Infinite - talk 10:24, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

New Currencies[edit]

It seems ArenaNet are making a habit of converting tokens to currencies. Along with this, the wallet has been redesigned to accommodate the larger selection of currencies, and now has a dropdown that can be used to filter currencies by category. Accordingly, I have reorganized this template to reflect these categories and to make it easier to identify and locate a particular currency in the template. I have separated the Dungeon currencies (8 dungeons + 2 fractals) into their own section, and added a new section for Map currencies (currently Geodes from Dry Top, and Bandit Crests from the Silverwastes). It is not unreasonable to expect that there may be additional map currencies being added in Heart of Thorns. There are a lot of currencies now, however, and I am wondering: do we need a redesign of this template (with horizontal headings instead of the current design with the headings at the side). Any insights? --TerrorBite (talk) 13:50, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Good work. By "horizontal headings" do you mean vertical lists with each type of currency in a separate column (header at the top)? Like this?

Spirit Shard Spirit Shard
Laurel Laurel
Badges of Honor Badge of Honor

Having the two really long lists and then the rest of them really short just doesn't look good, in my opinion. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:32, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
The current appearance works for me. I don't think a vertical version is necessary.
If we wanted to be strict about currencies then we could only put them in this template if they're in the Wallet... ergo the character + guild sections could be removed. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:36, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Character, sure, neither of those really work like currencies anymore (especially after the WvW upgrade system gets... um, upgraded). But I think the guild currencies still count, there just isn't a "guild wallet" equivalent for them. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:00, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
