1st of July[edit]

I see new info, but JP is still closed... or at least I get teleported away when going to the beginning of it. It opens at some announced time or just "somewhen on 1st of July scattered between timezones"? MalGalad 14:02, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

I don't think there's an announced time. Vahkris (talk) 14:13, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Diving Goggles[edit]

If you're having a hard time jumping, I suggest having a party member waiting down in the water so you have at least some sort of point to aim at using the minimap. Worked well for me and so did for others when they tried it. User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 19:11, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Some friends and I found a nearly foolproof way to nail the dive every time. From the goggle platform, get onto the pipe sticking out the side, stand on the end of the pipe, face the platform, and turn right 45 degrees so you are looking just past the right edge of the platform. Eg, when you jump in this direction your left shoulder will almost just brush the edge of the platform. Now jump straight out as far as you can go holding forward/run until you fall through the fake mountain. As soon as you pass through the mountain, let go, stop jumping outwards, and fall straight down. From here you should go straight into the water. I've taught 5 first-timers this method so far, and 4 nailed it their very first dive try using this method, and the 5th nailed it the second try, for about an 80% success rate. By comparison, diving from the platform itself is much harder. Kurtosis (talk) 07:41, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Gloriously landed face first on the blimp roof... this dive is ridiculous. >.> -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:20, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
You should have seen it at its release. Hundreds of players just mindlessly diving, hitting the ground, porting back up and doing it all over again. It took me around 15 tries to get it, although that was with mesmer portals. Not so fun without them... —Ventriloquist 15:31, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Eventually figured out how to do the elementalist teleport to skip the fight through the blimp, but the number of times I missed tiny beams :). Got the dive on the third time I made it to the platform, took a few hours to get used to the puzzle though >.< -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:54, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Was coached today by Midnight Lion on how to dive w/o dying(..after about 15 tp2friend wasted) Place yourself almost center, goggles on left, facing 1st blue wall light. Put on Goggles Hit V , you will dodge backwards off the ledge. It worked for me on all 6 accounts. I will attempt to up load a screenshot if permissibleArtphul (talk) 23:32, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Maybe you can use the pictures from the german wiki for that TheEmeser (talk) 20:28, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Necro specific[edit]

Under the profession specific skills, you could also add Spectral Walk for Necro's as a short term safety net. You can trigger the recall while falling if you miss a jump.

LMAO![edit]

Reduced to sale price of the ugly trash-stat unsalvageable soulbound shoulders from 60s to 3s? Thankfully I vendored mine. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the JP kudos to the devs, but the only real reason to go back there (besides to do an awesome JP again when you're bored) is on alt's to get those shoulders to vendor, now they've removed that. Will it just end up as another Southsun Cove? Empty? 124.191.60.179 06:26, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

You know, some people do jumping puzzle because it is jumping puzzle, not for reward. MalGalad 09:19, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Reward[edit]

It's received once per account or per pg? 93.148.48.150 16:33, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

The shoulder piece can be recieved once per character. Once the shoulder piece has been obtained, the chest will reward standard chest drops. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 17:56, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Just completed it for the first time on an alt, and they didn't get the shoulder pads, just normal chest loot. Livingston (talk) 17:15, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Maybe you could only get them during the event. I have the shoulder armor on 3 chars. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 02:35, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
I also completed this for the first time with an Alt today(during event only with the main). Did only get standard loot and no shoulder piece. Might really be the case that the shoulder piece only was available during event. lordmd (talk) 12:26, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
I suspected it'd be temporary, so I opened the chest with all my characters on day 1. User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 14:54, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
So glad that Anet made it clear to everyone that the shoulders would only be available during event. What garbage. 76.253.2.43 02:46, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Are we absolutely sure that it no longer drops? The pages for the Mantle and Pauldrons state that they are random drops from the chest at the end. Perhaps they still do, but they are no longer a guaranteed drop for the first time completing Not So Secret? I'd like to get some more data before coming to this conclusion. - Zaxares (talk) 07:13, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
I got a response from the Support team about this. According to them, the armor piece was only available during the Sky Pirates of Tyria Living Story event, so you won’t ever get the piece from doing the JP anymore. I have to say that I’m quite disappointed in this turn of events since there was no warning anywhere that the Aetherized shoulder piece was going to be a temporary reward. The Helmed Moa Racer mini got such a warning, so why not this? I asked the Support team to pass on that feedback to the devs. Hopefully they'll do better in future. - Zaxares (talk) 01:35, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
Historic shoulders aside, are we sure that this actually drops two of a given rarity? (Or is that my own misunderstanding of what is meant?) I don't think I have any screenies, but my recollection is that I have occasionally received a single rare, but I don't think ever two rares (unless we're counting the Crests/Orbs that drop on a random chance). I think I have received an Exo once, possibly twice in approximately a year camping the puzzle, but never 2 Exo at the same time, I am certain. Since I've been camping it, anti-farming may have kicked in, but YMMV. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 17:12, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Reset anomaly[edit]

There's an anomaly with this chest as well as a few others: it doesn't immediately reset after your server's daily reset time. You can guest to another server and claim the reward. The same-server reset time is less than 24 hours, but more than 3 hours. That is similar to the timing on ori ores, although you can't guest to claim them sooner than the reset. Since most JP chests reset with the daily, I think it's fair to call this an anomaly and indicate it on the article for the JP.

For testing, I left the same character at the chest for 2 weeks, claiming the reward once per day in between resets. If I claimed it one day around an hour before reset, I'd have to guest to claim again an hour after reset. But I didn't have to guest if there was a longer gap. I only recorded the dates and I wasn't systematic. So, I'm not able to narrow it down except to say it's less than 24 hrs but more than 3, e.g. might be 6 or 12. Similar testing for Weyandt's Revenge suggests about 8 hours will do. 75.37.22.122 17:56, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Most chests reset every ~24 hours, not daily. I have seen chests reset shorter than that period though.--Relyk ~ talk < 08:36, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
What JP chest require 24 hours before resetting? Each JP and explorer achievement related chest I've tested requires waiting until server reset. In some cases, if you opened the chest shortly before reset by a few hours, you'll have to guest to get it directly at reset. I've seen this behavior for Not So Secret, Sharkmaw, and The Long Way Around. Also for most rich metal nodes. I haven't found anything that is on a 24-hour (or even 23-hour) timer. Even ori and ancient nodes can be farmed immediately after reset, although, again, you might have to guest to do so.
I haven't done extensive testing for chests unassociated with events, JPs, or achievements, but the ones I have tested follow the same behavior: can always reopen immediately after reset, although sometimes you have to guest. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:58, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Profession-specific tips[edit]

Various skills "can skip to the portion directly above the well." How, exactly? And what's "the portion directly above the well"? - Brian Kendig (talk) 13:32, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Never mind - I figured it out and updated the article to be more descriptive. - Brian Kendig (talk) 14:25, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
I have a different issue, that whomever is claiming all these skills work like personal teleportation has not actually used some of them. Summon Flesh Wurm, for one, doesn't work the way you think it does. You can't summon a Flesh Wurm to any location that you can't immediately walk to. The claim that you can "use Summon Flesh Wurm" to somehow teleport to the ship across open space from any other horizontal surface is completely false. The worm must be placed on the same elevation on ground contiguous with your location. Don't believe me? Then you try it and tell us how it goes. It just doesn't work that way. 73.180.196.185 01:12, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Agreed with this. Removed Necro 50.196.48.211 02:17, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
I'd actually suggest we remove this section. The March 2015 update clearly made this not work, despite what the walkthrough claims. 50.196.48.211 02:26, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
I disagree. The information in the article still works for at least one of the professions listed. I haven't actively tested the rest of them. --Fsdafsdbbbbbb (talk)
I just tested this, myself, on my necro. Summon Flesh Wurm --> Necrotic Transversal still works on this shortcut. I've reverted the edit. --Fsdafsdbbbbbb (talk) 14:40, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
I originally added the shortcut a long time ago and I mainly did and still do it with my Necro, if you have problems to place the wurm, get closer to the platform but not too close, then set the wurm that it's located halfway on it and you will see you can place it there and the port works as well as any of the other classes (didn't try guardian yet, that info was added by somebody else but I tested all casters and seen a thief doing it as well) Now somebody removed necro once more from the list so I edited it back in, if you yourself can't make it, try from a slightly different position but stop removing it from this post please. 84.180.64.159 01:39, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
I just checked the history, and as far as I can tell it hasn't been removed recently, but nobody actually re-added necro to the header of that section when it should have been. So thank you for doing so anon, and for the initial tip. =) - Doodleplex 01:49, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Any profession can use the shortcut by moving to the point on the pipe that is closest to the platform with the guard then going to character screen and back. Separ (talk) 02:07, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Swiftness for the Diving Goggles[edit]

Not sure where to put this on the main page, but I definitely wanted to share this tip after nearly going insane after a week of trying to get to the diving goggles. At the top, above the airship, where the JP diverges between the chest and the diving spot, you encounter two zip pads and then the first of the launch pads that starts the final ascent to the goggles. At the first launch pad (the one right after the two zip pads), it's very easy to miss the jump to the next platform. Not only do you have to position your toon as close as possible to the second launch pad but it also can only be reached at the peak of the 1st launch pad's ;aunch. A trick I discovered was to give yourself Swiftness. It really helps get you to the second launch pad. The later launch pads all the way to the top are much easier. --Messenger (talk) 02:42, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Seems like this part of the walkthrough is the most appropriate place. However, this tip (and it is a good tip) might be too general to warrant the extra discussion--this walkthrough is already fairly long and might deserve some trimming. Perhaps just put it in, and then if/when someone pares the article down, they can decide whether it should stay or go. Fsdafsdbbbbbb (talk) 14:47, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Zip Pad Overshoot[edit]

Since late 2016 the Zip pads are throwing harder than previously and overshoots occur almost every time. It is not much of a problem for the pair at the entrance of the puzzle, but for the pair on the way to the dive goggles it is much more of a problem since missing the second pad results in death. You can halt your zip pad flight by swapping weapons. Practice on the pair at the entrance the ones above use the same timing. Separ (talk) 01:42, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/12/24[edit]

The link to section 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 in the Contents box do not work. --24.60.62.241 03:59, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

They're inside of the Spoiler section. If it's opened then they link to it (at which point they're pretty much worthless heh) --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 04:06, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

How many Blade Shards can be obtained from the reward chest's contents?[edit]

The Magnificent Chest at the end of this JP seems to be different from other magnificent chests, as it gives Blade Shards too. Does anyone know how many shards this chest can drop each time its looted? --27.104.205.45 19:24, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Feedback 2019/03/15[edit]

Please add some information regarding the respawn timer of the chest. I have an alt parked at the chest for the Blade Shards, and earlier this week I logged into an already opened chest. This happened around 8:00, while I hadn't logged in yet since the daily reset (01:00) - and 7 hours is definitely not the 'immediately after reset' mentioned in the notes. It took some asking around on FB to figure out that the timer of the chest is on a 24-h reset, because a few hours later (halfway through the morning) the chest was lootable again. Consecutive attempts seemed to confirm this for me, but it might require attempts from other people to provide a valid verification.

Some chests are on this timer but not all of them. Not so Secret and Jp at SW are one of many wich des have the timer 24h. Blade Shards can be crafted tho so you dont need to be parked there at all. Your decisions. --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 14:05, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
the request is merely to have a little line added to the notes, informing people that the chest is on a 24-h timer instead of the usual daily reset one. It's not about the best way to get shards.
