Can you provide a source link or at least name of source that provided this info? thanks (Usaf1a8xx 20:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC))

That confirms the name, but not much else. "Thought to have been lost after the Searing cut off access, they are part of humanity's legacy in the region." - what's the source for this (particularly the latter part)? pling User Pling sig.png 23:21, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
There's no source for that. I suggest we remove it. Erasculio 23:26, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
The Catacombs was an area in pre-searing, it had three different exits, non of which were reachable after the searing. I'd be willing to bet these were the same Catacombs. Considering the whole 100 people we left on the other side of the Shiverpeaks in the original GW wouldn't have been able to make a whole new one after all of the soldiers died during the Battle of Ascalon City. I'm still for removing that extra tidbit on the page, but I thought I should remind you of this. EiveTalk 23:37, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Sometimes, things don't need a source, because it comes from the first game, like Ruins of Denravi is all about what happened to make it "ruins" instead of "henge." It's all events in GW1, but off-screen and post the 'stuck-in-time' period that the Henge is in in GW1. -- Konig/talk 01:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

King Adelmen

Did they misspell king adelbern? or is this actually a new guy? --User RepoMan sigimage.pngepo Man 01:26, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm assuming that they misspelled it since the paragraph is describing past encounters. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 02:09, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I prefer to think it's clones of Adelbern, thus called Adelmen. EiveTalk 02:27, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Lorewise, should adelbern's ghost still be sitting in ascalon city though? --User RepoMan sigimage.pngepo Man 02:43, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
He was free to move around as he pleased in GoA. EiveTalk 02:44, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Rubi from Massively asked about the name and was told it was meant to be Adelbern. (source). -- Konig/talk 04:50, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

):

I wont be able to kill them ill just let others do it ha D:--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 08:28, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

I'd hate to have you on my team. But I would enjoy killing Adelbern just for those years of me having to listen to him talk all the time. EiveTalk 08:28, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
ahh i just wouldnt kill Munne lol id enjoy killing Adelbern (:--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 09:12, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Just remember; they've turned into eternal (wellnoteternalbuttheydon'tknowyet) ghosts because of the Foefire. They're just trying to murder intruders and aren't their usual self at all. Well, except possibly Munne. - Infinite - talk 12:09, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
lol True :P with her cute lil' hammer ^^ --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 12:12, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
They are not those you knew before. Except Adelbern. Now they're all Adelbern clones, but with different looks. THEY ARE ALL ADELBERN! O__O -- Konig/talk 15:00, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
They're ADELMEN! NOEZ! O__O --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 15:32, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
the only one i wont kill is Munne >.> she probably knows shes dead she is a necro lol--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 20:14, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Split into Ascalon Catacombs (Story) and Ascalon Catacombs (Explorable)?

They seem pretty different, having them all on one page could be hard to navigate. Daelin Dwin 20:06, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

I think it would be good like on GW1 it has at the top of the page different ways of a town(though its not a town but still)+1..--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 20:13, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Maybe when we learn more, but not yet. Considering there are three explorable versions, we may need 4 pages per dungeon, and the second suggested name is not helpful. Konig/talk 20:24, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Maybe when we get more information we can :)--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 20:26, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
The game's released, and I've seen people around town wearing the dungeon reward armor. The article should be split into Story and Explorable, because both are unique. They even have different level scaling. Now, the three "unique" explorable areas are merely different paths with some different lines of text and objectives. But are essentially the same map. If they're split, there need not be 3 explorable pages, but one page with 3 subsections. --Kristofferus 18:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

spoiler alert

hrm...it kinda looks like king adelbern is the last boss in the dungeon. im guessing that was predictable though. i can see his sword in the background too. --Moto Saxon 19:39, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

This is neither a spoiler nor unknown. :p And he's just the end of the story mode one. Though he may return for explorable... Who knows. Konig/talk 20:13, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
That thing in the back looks like a Charr golem or ghost. And yeah i saw the sword. Wath wil happen if you pick it up ? Draaky 07:26, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
srry I don't see a Charr Golem or ghost. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 07:48, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
To the left of the sword, right behind one of the PCs there's a creature. To me it looks like an elemental (bunch of floating rocks). Clearly not an Earth Elemental though. Konig/talk 08:33, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Now that mention it it looks like a Ice Elemental.Thought it was a charr because it feel looked like claws Draaky 08:43, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
It could be a quest item. Mediggo 08:19, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Dynamic shadows, or lack of?

Where are they? I understand some ambient lighting, but watching the video makes it looks like there are no light sources or shadows to be found. They're definitely in the game, as you can see them when people run around outside, but it looks like there's either no shadows in this dungeon or they turned them off in game settings (but why would they do that for a promo vid?). It makes the graphics look far worse than they should, IMHO. --Seventh 12:03, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I guess dungeons are supposed to be dark. Catacombs is also, seemingly, the first completed dungeon in the game, but it might not be fully polished yet. We can only hope. It's still quite impressive visually. Mediggo 12:14, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Ascalonian Catacombs

According to the loading screen in this video, the dungeon is actually called Ascalonian Catacombs. Move the article? That Sounds Risky | 11:29, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

NPC Vendor

Should not be placed vendors?

Exmple1

Exmple2

This is my idea. Lasha 12:16, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

These guys are not in the dungeon though, so I'd say no, personally. Konig/talk 02:55, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Cinematics

May I ask where the cinematics dialogues come from ? Are there screenshots, or a video ? 213.166.194.139 16:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

They came screenshots and/or videos published by gaming websites from the closed beta event. I didn't save any links but you should be able to locate quite a few videos by searching youtube for "Ascalonian Catacombs". -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 16:46, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Beta Event

Did any1 manage to clear the dungeon during this or the last beta weekend? how did you kill Kasha Blackblood?

Answer: Yes, we did. The tactic that WE found is that she will constantly heal herself if she isn't taking damage. We found that with 5 people, and the waypoint you earn, you can constantly have someone on her (anyone at all) trying to dps/tank her. Don't worry about the minions, kill them if you have to, but when you are down don't fight. If there is at least one person on her she won't regen her health. Keep running back and forth, don't worry about armor till after the fight. It takes a while, but it works. Hope this helped :)

I believe the correct strategy is to kill her minions as soon as they're up, since she heals via draining her minions health, killing the minions makes her unable to heal. --142.177.77.220 15:24, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Updated Dungeon Reward?

During the June 8th-10th beta weekend it should be noted that the reward for completing the dungeon in story mode yields a piece of the dungeon's unique armor set. For me and others in my party, we all received the rare headpiece that our profession could wear and it was automatically soulbound upon accepting. Also I received 30 silver and some amount of XP upon completion. Hope this helps. --Throes talk 20:42, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

light armor?

Any images of the light armor? Yumiko ^,~ 15:13, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Ahuralove's Screenshots

Per the recent reverts, I'd like to state my argument with more room than the summary provides. I removed the screenshots because:

  1. They're chaotic in appearance. It's just a bunch of images stacked onto each other. You can't easily tell what they are, there are no descriptions, and there is no format to them. It's just a mess.
  2. They don't seem to add anything. They're pictures of rocks and stones. Unless some are pictures of certain Points of Interest or areas in the dungeon, such as Foefire's Heart or The Lovers' Crypt, I don't see a point to having them on the wiki at all. They add nothing to the page.
  3. Addendum to above: Adding these images is like adding an image of a doorway from Divinity's Reach onto the Divinity's Reach article. It makes me, at least, go "why is this here? What benefit does it have? What's the bloody point!?" going from confusion to facepalming annoyance at how there's something unhelpful blocking helpful information (by making me scroll more to see the full page).
  4. And I just want to re-iterate the lack of format and description. Only the taker of these images, assuming he/she hasn't forgotten by now, will know what they are. The image names are not helpful either, as they are beyond generic and, above all, do not conform to wiki file naming standards. I would tag them all for deletion, or move them, but again - I have no clue what they are of, as I have not been in the dungeon nor am I the one who took them. It leaves me unable to know what to do other than simply orphaning the images because, once more, I see no benefit to having them on the page. Konig/talk 15:36, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
i will admit that they are poorly named BUt these images are each of a room, (there may be one double and i'm missing 2 rooms due to a char jumping in last min, i was waiting for the next bwe to tag them properly or for someone else to), i think they do add something to the page due to the fact of showing you what every room looks like and can be used for any pages on the rooms that may come later. i really think ONLY you seem to have a problem with it so could you stop it please? i havent seen anyone else comment on them... The format i put them up is abit wrong but thats due to me being a newb at posting on a wiki so formatting wise fix it if you wish to, also whats wrong with having a screenshot section?--Ahura ^.^
You reverted me saying what they're of in the summary and talk, but yet you... 1) didn't fix any formating, thus issue 1 remains the same. Didn't really address issue 2 (what do they add to this article? Are they not better placed on the individual articles of the locations? Why does seeing what each room looks like help? It didn't help on the GWW, for instance we don't have an image of each room for gw1:The Deep). Didn't address issue 3. And didn't address issue 4 either. You merely reverted and told me what they're of, but yet did absolutely nothing to fix the reasons why I removed them in the first place...
Again.
And I'm the only one bringing it up because I catch it shortly after you add it. Such additions have been made and reverted by others than me before, I am merely following (in agreement) in what they did. If I felt the images actually added something, I would fix the formatting, but as I added one image to the Lover's Crypt, I would only add them to the individual location pages, and not to this poage unless they were showing hard-to-find traps and were part of a walkthrough section. Konig/talk 18:00, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree that they don't really add any important information. If it was something like "stand here to avoid the falling rocks", that would be helpful. Otherwise, it's not really within the scope of the wiki to show every location in the game. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 18:07, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
i did say even though it might have not come across that way, that i do have a problem with changing the formatting due to not knowing what you want from it or how to do it any other way i did say i was a newb at this didnt i?, But looking at most of the pages on Here there is a gallery section on most of them. but on a serious note apart from 4 of them each has a boss, trap, strategy to follow. you have the cannons on where you have to fix for the second route of explorable on the first ss, the point where you have to spam the traps to kill the breeder for the second rout on the second one and so on... I was going to add desc and names to them but i was really waiting for next bwe if they dont wipe to put proper ones on with good descriptions or hope for someone else to fill in since i thought that what a wiki was. but yea i dont have a problem with you fixing layouts or deleting only ones that aren't points of interest (counted 4 that aren't) but i kept seeing you delete them all straight away without giving them a chance. also AC9.jpg is of Foefire's Heart Ahura ^.^

Seven waypoints?

Any source for this? I ran the complete dungeon twice on story mode and only found 4 waypoints. Maybe there's extra waypoints on explorable mode?--Lon-ami 15:08, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

More waypoints are in explorable mode - such as the Foefire's Heart Waypoint, which is where you fight Adelbern in story mode. There's also the Priory Camp Waypoint in an area locked off in the story mode (and one other that I didn't catch the name of). Konig/talk 19:11, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
There is likely more than 7, i suspect 12 or 11 but since i can only confirm 7... the 3 extra are Foefire's Heart, The camp and breeders area.Edit: on a side not does anyone remember if you get exp from getting way points in a dungeon. i cant remember now.Ahura ^.^

Second Reference

The article says "Players above the maximum levels can still enter, but will be scaled down to a maximum of 4 levels above the level limit." I don't understand this. Is it talking about Explorable mode? Story mode? I don't remember about Story mode, but I'm certain Explorable mode set me back to level 35 (I was forty-something). I think story mode set me back to the exact level as well... Saying this; what does the quote mean? I tried to check the reference, but it's dead. I'm reluctant to delete it, in case someone actually knows a second place for that reference, and can restore it.

TL;DR. Reference [2] is broken. I don't get the 'max of four levels' thing. Could someone pleas elaborate? 110.174.243.167 15:07, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
