Tahmu, the Weeping Queen, was an empress consort in Cantha. According to an old legend, she was killed during a naga raid on Old Kaineng City and became the Dragon, leader of the Celestials.[1]

Biography[edit]

Early years[edit]

According to an old legend, Tahmu married the Emperor of Cantha and became a member of the Imperial Family. She was well known for her generosity and kind spirit, viewing the people of her lands as her children and making sure none went without food and shelter. When the naga attacked Old Kaineng City, the empress's private guards urged her to flee the city that she might save her own life just like her husband, the emperor, had done. But Tahmu would not abandon her children. She called to her people to take up arms and defend themselves against the naga, and she herself went into the streets to do battle.

However, the naga overpowered Tahmu and her people, keeping her alive to witness the torture and murder of every single person in the city. Enraged beyond reason, the empress managed to break from her bonds and call down fire from the heavens, which streaked through the streets in the form of a dragon, incinerating the naga attackers.[2] The legend tells that Tahmu ultimately perished during the invasion. Her spirit awoke in the Celestial Realm where she was transformed into a dragon, one of the four cardinal Celestials. She became the leader of the Celestials and would be known as the constant reminder of atrocity, pain, and anguish.[1][3]

Guild Wars Factions[edit]

In 1582 CC (1072 AE), Master Togo and a group of heroes were instructed by the envoys to seek out Suun, the Oracle of the Mists, who could help the heroes become Weh no Su, Closer to the Stars, in preparation for the fight against the vengeful spirit of Shiro Tagachi. With help from the assassin Nika, the party eventually located Suun who instructed them to face avatars of Tahmu and the other cardinal Celestials. After defeating the Celestial incarnations, the party successfully became Closer to the Stars.[3]
