Marghel Talekeeper is a storyteller teaching young cubs about charr history in Deathblade's Watch.
Location[edit]
Dialogue[edit]
- Cubs need to hear about the glories and the dangers of battle, so I tell them what stories I know. They love hearing about Kalla Scorchrazor and Ember Doomforge. Is there a story you'd like to hear?
- Tell me about Ember Doomforge.
- She and a bunch of other adventurers retrieved the Claw of the Khan-Ur from the wreckage of Ascalon. Without her, they never would have made it through that army of ghosts.
- Tell me about the Claw.
- It's an ancient charr weapon, two blades pointing forward and two pointing backward with an handgrip in the middle. It represents the last time the legions were unified.
- (If charr)
- Ugh. Don't you cubs know your history? Fine. It's an ancient weapon, two blades in the front and two in back. Last time if[sic] was in our hands, all of the legions were united.
- What's so important about it?
- It's the reason the whole peace treaty is happening. The human queen gave it back to the charr as a sign of good faith. Now, both sides are negotiating for the end of hostilities.
- I want to hear about something else.
- Of course. What story would you like to hear?
- Tell me about Ember.
- Tell me about Kalla.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Never mind.
- Interesting. Thanks for the story.
- Where's the claw now?(If charr)
- It's back in our hands, thanks to the humans. When the human queen gave it back to us, it started the peace talks. Never thought we'd stop killing humans or get the Claw back, yet here we are.
- Got time for another story? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- Yeah, something to think about, all right.
- Good to know. Thanks.
- Thanks. (If charr)
- Do you have time to tell me another? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- That's amazing. Thanks.
- Tell me about Kalla Scorchrazor.
- Almost 300 years ago, the charr shamans ruled over their race, preaching that the gods of fire made them stronger than all others. Meanwhile, the titans were watching and controlling the shamans.
- Didn't anyone suspect the shamans back then?
- One brave Blood Legion soldier, Bathea Havocbringer, defied the shamans. As punishment, she was executed, and females were restricted from serving in battle.
- What happened next?
- Kalla was born into this life, but she wouldn't let it control her. She encouraged the other females to train in secret. Together, they were able to overthrow the shamans on the Plains of Golghein.
- What can you learn from this?
- Never give up hope, even in the darkest hour. Bathea's death didn't mean her cause wasn't worth fighting for. Another generation picked up her banner and won the fight.
- Do you have time to tell me another? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- Thank you. Good-bye.
- Good-bye.
- Good-bye.
- Good-bye.
- Is this how you spend all of your time?
- You think I'm retired? Ha! If I stopped fighting and working not even a cub would want to listen to what I have to say. I fight, but I also share some of what I know with the next generation.
- Can you tell me one of your tales? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- Good-bye.
- You must have some tales of your own. Tell me about yourself.
- A couple years back, me and another member of my warband were trapped in the Dragonbrand. We had no food, one sword each, and a length of rope. And it was getting dark.
- Then what?
- We were worried, but we kept our heads enough to strap ourselves back to back with the rope, so nothing could sneak up on us. We kept each other awake by telling jokes and singing cadences.
- What about the Branded creatures?
- We had a contest of who could butcher the most Branded before our rescue party came. I lost count at 85. My only problems were tail cramps and losing my voice from singing. Best night patrol ever.
- Can you tell me another story? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- Thanks for the story.
- That's amazing. Do you have time to tell me another? (Same as "I want to hear about something else.")
- Good-bye.
- I prefer to learn by experience. Good-bye.
