Early design ideas and lore[edit]

Kate: We had concerns at first; there was a previous idea based on some secret plot things that I can't get into so much that it involved him being more crystalline. And we were worried that that approach was kind of making him look like he was Branded, which he's not, and too much like an enemy type dragon, and also a little steps on the toes of Aurene's design a little bit. We don't want him to look related to her since she's kind of part of the, like, pantheon. She kind of has that Elder Dragon ancestry due to her mom; we don't want him to look like he has the same potential to be, like, as strong as she is or the same kind of dragon that she is. He's kind of, like, our "lesser dragons" but at the same time we still want them to feel heroic and cool. We don't want them to feel like "oh this is just the puny lesser version of whatever Aurene was."

Rubi: A quick note on that, the things that you were saying that we can't get into: after War Eternal is out, we are going to do a deeper dive into the design of the skyscale so we won't keep all of our secrets for ourselves. Yeah, sorry. Kate, go ahead.

Joel Helmich: (overlapping) And behind the scenes stuff too.

Kate: Yeah, so, anyway...umm, yeah, we wanted to...so it was kind of trying to strike a balance between that: making this guy still feel cool, still feel powerful without feeling like he's kind of, like, confusing or messes up the lore about what the Elder Dragons are too much. And then also making sure that he stands out from some of the enemy dragon types that we've had. A lot of our enemies are "we-verns" or "why-verns", however you prefer to fall on that controversy, so yeah, we decided to stick to the six legged body plan. I mean, they're all dragons in my eyes but this body plan at least falls along the lines of what we've typically seen for more of our "good guy" dragons. And yeah, I guess that's all I have right now.

Raw transcript[edit]

hi teria happy Friday and welcome to
your Friday guild chat I'm your host
Ruby and we are going to give you a
preview of the sky scale that's coming
to Guild Wars 2 later this month I want
to talk to you really quickly about
something that we're working on before
we jump into the sky scale ArenaNet
we've talked a little bit about this
earlier in April I can't believe it's
already May yeah yeah I can't I can't
cope with any of this we've talked a
little bit earlier in April about an
event that ArenaNet is participating in
for the first time this year we're
participating in mocks card kingdoms
gauntlet for charity this year and I've
got one of the guild wars 2 devs on to
participate in this what this is is an
annual board gaming tournament that's
put on locally to support a different
local charity every year this year they
are supporting a local group called the
center the center for all races and this
on May 19th we're going to be
participating in an all-day board gaming
tournament to help raise funds for this
charity our devs participating our game
director Mike said Rodney Isaiah
Cartwright this is why we wrote it down
John Hargrove Oh Justin Riley and this
guy Steven why don't you introduce
yourself hi I'm Steven said Nikki I'm
one of the programmers on Guild Wars 2
just recently shifted over to the living
world team as a Content designer
actually which is super exciting
terrifying but also super exciting and
I'm a longtime avid gamer I mostly know
mock slash card Kingdom from there from
other magic hosting stuff that I've been
playing magic since they were berserk
games and but they're also just amazing
board game folks and this is a fantastic
excuse to spend all day playing board
games for work and for an excellent
charity yeah so you guys there are a
couple of ways you can support us you
can watch the live stream right here on
this twitch channel on May 19th all day
watch these guys hanging in there there
are a couple of games you're going to be
playing and you guys have been doing
practice sessions right we have we've
been playing some especially some
photosynthesis at lunch which is one of
the two games that they've specifically
announced for it I'm really enjoying it
it's kind of an abstract placement game
which I wasn't really expecting from the
theming the theming is just you're
growing trees but the actual gameplay is
very much this sort of you're jockeying
for position as the Sun rolls around the
board and like what might be a great
spot right now will be a terrible spot
to turns from now when the light has
shifted but it's a lot of fun and it's
been a blast both playing it and also
watching especially like Izzi is a very
dedicated gamers sort of like yeah right
and he has been trying to kind of not
only get a good feeling for
photosynthesis itself but metagame the
charity tournament yeah in terms of like
figuring out what other teams are going
to be doing and who we should
concentrate on like making sure that we
are you know better than or who we like
turn other teams anger on that kind of
thing so it's uh it's fascinating to
watch if nothing else yeah now part of
the way this works is that as we get
more donations for this charity and I'll
talk a little bit more about that in a
second
you guys are team earns power-ups that
will help you advance toward your place
in the tournament because we are one of
20 teams participating so we will be
competing for first second third fourth
fifth place and so on so whoever
wherever we fall in the rankings of who
raises the most money we get a certain
number of power-ups to help us do better
in the gaming tournament on the 19th so
you guys are playing several board games
and then there's a surprise game toward
the end of the day right and you do not
know what that's gonna be no idea what
those there's the trivia round and we
know nothing about the trivia other than
that it's going to be gaming related so
so these power-ups will help very much
so line
speaking for myself I could use that
help I enjoy board games but I would not
say that I am a terribly good board game
her so yeah
so we're going to put a donation link in
chat right now no matter which of our
chats you are in you can see a donation
link right now and Mark if you could
show there a couple at that once you go
to that donation link you'll be able to
see there are a number of things the
charity shows what kind of things you'll
be providing whether it be after-school
programs for local kids whether it be
long-term after-school programs some
adult mentoring for local kids there's a
lot of good things that these charities
do to help out our local youth so we
really appreciate that machs is spending
time working on this to support this
charity and we really appreciate that
you and the other guys are pitching in
all of your time up to and including the
19th so we appreciate all of your
support and we will see you on the 19th
I'm looking good luck and have fun it
will be a blast no question all right
thank you for your time who wants to see
the sky scale I know I do yeah all right
I will let you get back to work
you guys stick around for just a minute
and we will be back and we will take a
look at our newest Mount

all right we are ready for sky scale are
you guys all set okay yeah no all right
just changes my never mind all right why
don't you guys introduce yourselves talk
about what you do here at ArenaNet and
what you worked on for the sky scale
Joel okay so I my name is Joel Helmick I
am a gameplay programmer I also
sometimes to design things so having
done this this dragon so I did sort of
ladder ladder happen it should design
tool of implementation it's very weird
because I'm a month fool because sound
is not coming through the headphones but
it's okay you're fine don't mind me as
far as others so personally we're not
joined by the original and ongoing
designer Alaina Chadwick was at the
office today
but she did initial design on the dragon
and initial implementation of stuff I
sort of picked things up a couple months
in helped with her helped her design
things and build things
so building things all right Kate how
about you hi I'm Kate file shifter I'm
the creature art lead here at ArenaNet I
was more of a supervising art directing
role specifically on this asset worked
with our creature artists too Pete
Edgar's who did the model and
outsourcing coordination to outsource to
actually one of our former consular
former computer art lead Japan in Bogart
he did the concept for this for us and
uh yeah I was just responsible for
guiding art direction look and feel and
helping out with technical aspects of
skinning animation and whatnot awesome
Thank You Kate
okay so let's talk really quickly about
what we are and are not going to do
today first we are in desert highlands I
saw a couple questions about what map
we're in
we're not going to spoil the story we're
not going to spoil the map we're going
to talk about we're going to talk with
Kate about the design of the sky scale
why they look the way they look some of
the thought processes of the other that
some of the thought processes that went
into the design we're going to give you
all a flying lesson and talking a little
bit about masteries we're not going to
spoil acquisition for you either so
we're going to leave you lots and lots
of surprises and yes these high scale
was thrown a fish and ate it and it's
adorable that is one of its little idle
animations so yes it and I am kind of
keeping an eye on chat for questions as
I can so that's where we are Kate why
don't we start a little bit with the
look of our sky scales these are what
they look like died and undyed we've all
got slightly different colors so you can
kind of see what they look like do you
want to talk a little bit first about
the about the general thought processes
behind the look of the sky scale as far
as differentiating it from enemy dragons
sure yeah okay so first to start out
with this guy
do to primarily due to time constraints
with teams working on other living world
content we wanted to start testing stuff
with a pre-existing rigs we tried
working on the Gryphon rig to start just
to see how this might even work out if
at all one of the differences with this
guy as opposed to some of the other
mounts is this guy started out with the
idea knowing we wanted to make a dragon
mount that we wanted to kind of fulfill
that fantasy and that idea of just being
able to ride a dragon being a dragon
rider pretty much everything everything
that is entailed with that whereas the
other mounts were primarily movement
development first so we kind of had that
whole design like at least just look out
of the way we needed to then figure out
okay how can this work with the pantheon
of mounts that we have so far
how
can this feel different in the way that
it plays without stepping on the toes of
any of the other mounts especially since
the Griffon already is like so fun to
fly with and it stands out so much we
don't want to do just like that again we
want to do a different approach to
flying yes this guy's more of a
helicopter in a sense whereas the
Griffon is a little bit more of like a
speedster like a hawk or a falcon yeah
so we tried to make this guy bulkier we
wanted him to be more of a heroic type
critter we had concerns at first there
was a previous idea based on some secret
plot things that I can't get into so
much that involved him being more
crystalline and we were worried that
that approach was kind of making him
look like he was branded which he's not
and too much like an enemy type dragon
and also a little steps on the toes of
Irene's design a little bit we don't
want him to look related to her since
she's kind of part of the like Pantheon
she's kind of has that elder dragon
ancestry due to her mom we don't want
him to look like he has the same
potential to be like as strong as she is
or the same kind of dragon that she is
he's kind of kind of like our lesser
dragons but at the same time we still
want them to feel heroic and cool we
don't want them to feel like oh this is
just the puny lesser version of whatever
Irene was yeah so a quick note on that
the things that you were saying that we
can't get into after we're eternal let
us out we are going to do a deeper dive
into the design of the sky skip so we
won't keep all of our so sorry yeah
anyway yeah we wanted to so it was kind
of trying to strike a balance between
that making this guy still feel cool
still feel powerful without feeling like
he's kind of like confusing or messes up
the lore about what the elder dragons
are
too much and then also making sure that
he stands out from some of the enemy
dragon types that we've had a lot of our
enemies are wyverns or wyverns however
you prefer to fall on that controversy
so yeah we decided to stick to the six
legged body plan I mean they're all
dragons and my eyes but these guys this
body plan at least Falls along the lines
of what we've typically seen for more of
our good guy dragons and yeah I guess
that's all I have right now okay can we
talk a little bit about this is just
something that I was admiring yesterday
while our dragon was hovering I was just
admiring the scale patterns and you had
talked to you a little bit about that
yesterday well we were chatting a little
bit oh sure yeah so some of this is kind
of I mean like so many people will touch
this guy like I said we had a concept
artist and we had our actual artist who
did the finalized sculpt and then we
also had considerations about like
differentiating this out from some of
our previous dragons make sure this guy
doesn't feel like he's too related to
either of them the scales are pretty
much designed to be more broad more
armored looking so we didn't get too
small in the detail this guy to feel
like he could take a hit and be chunkier
he's a beefy boy
lots of crocodilian reference just
because those guys have such cool
armored texture onto them and then a
little bit of some Cobra with influence
into the next scales we didn't do like
just the straight singular horizontal
scale of course we want to play around
with the shape language a little bit
more so it wasn't just too repetitive
but there was some earlier concepts of
this guy where he was a little bit more
snake-like and some of that still is in
the scale design to an extent I
absolutely love it and I also
mark yeah if we can pick up mine for
just a second I love that when my sky
skill is hovering his feet there is just
there's something about yeah the foot
motion absolutely kills me all of the
little detail to the animation is so so
good that everyone every team who had a
hand in this makes me so happy so I know
I know we could only get three on here
but I really really want to get get
credit out there where credit is due to
everyone who worked on this because
there were a lot of teams that did good
work here oh yeah definitely
Oh Brian Walter was the primary animator
on this guy he worked with Nick Asia and
effects artist for some of the idle
animations too he has like an animation
where he catches a fish you feed your
guy do some pet bonding and I'm getting
attacked by Hydra a little territorial
dragon angst there yeah Brian's just an
excellent animator he puts a lot of
character
and has a lot of ideas that he comes out
with a project a project that he gets
really excited and is very creative and
everything he does and we wanted it to I
mean they liked for a lot of the
animations on say like the Raptor were
so successful and we wanted to try and
get back into that and have more
interactions with your dragon and have
the character come through in his
actions and movements really to make him
stand out from like our other flying
mount the Griffon and also just you want
the legs and limbs and stuff to be doing
something in there it's much more
interesting if they were just hanging
yeah kind of feels like he's really
working like paddling at the air
fantastic somebody in this is I love
this comment and chat is this guy still
making air bread and he's needing he's
making biscuits yes and knackers you
have cats don't you yeah oh you have
snakes yeah awesome just a little
vanilla vanilla morph ball pythons I dog
but they entertain me super Keenan dust
this guy scales
some snakes and here we are you know I
mean dragons are just like they're just
cat snakes so all the all the
three-letter words in there okay so one
more thing I want to talk about can you
talk a little bit about the wingspan
because that was a conversation again
that we had yesterday and I really
wanted to make sure we touched on that
that was a good one oh sure yeah some of
us was just a part of visual design
iteration on this guy when we're testing
the gameplay and we're taking a look at
how everything looks when you're
hovering when you're flying around and
also just the character on the mount it
didn't quite look like there's the issue
of a playground within our max our
default hover height the minimum height
that you could basically be hovering at
and adjusting that and our first issue
was just trying to make sure that the
wings didn't look like they were
clipping into the ground so we adjusted
that for the height and then we realized
that you know considering this guy is
hovering the whole time his wings at the
size that they were to start with which
was more similar to the wingspan of the
Griffon they just looked really
inadequate for keeping him up there at
that minimum default hovering height we
found out that we could pretty simply
test out just um
doubling would be doubling up the size
of those we had to do and make animation
adjustment to that but it looked much
better much more realistic I mean as
much as realistic as a dragon is just
felt more believable and acceptable to
the AIA to have them be that larger size
considering the movement type that this
guy has and the maneuverability that he
has to be able to keep you stationary
with those big expanses of membrane and
then way I do adjust the height again
for that because his wings were again
clipping into the ground plane so you
have higher all right well why don't we
talk about how this guy moves no give us
a
so it's the first thing I noticed I go
through it's sort of in some kind of
order I don't know I'll come up with
something
so the first petitions notice is that
it's got unlike most amounts it's got
two gauges it's normally like just the
one gauge which is its jump energy
dragon what's going on here is that this
is this is still an energy bar this this
lower one called like - juice or
something and then the top one is flaky
juice because we don't have a real name
for it what that does is it shows you
approximately how much you can keep
flying if it's not a time it's it's
based on a difference between there so
there's imagine there's some like canopy
over you and you can fly it anywhere
under that canopy like we do bring out
in this paint okay so all right imagine
that you here's the ground and here's
your spirit here's your dragon and then
there's like this cylinder around you
and you can fly anywhere you want and
the cylinder if you leave the cylinder
here the cylinder starts to drop so
effectively you get this like can't
thank you actually are actually showing
this is amazing keep moving the cylinder
keeps dropping as you can fly any as
long as you don't keep moving you can
keep flying up and down and I keep
playing but eventually you run out of
like so so for example if I go all the
way down ground I go up I go down well
as long as I want but if I start wearing
food it starts just drop off and now
I've hit the top of my canopy you know
it's slowly descending toward the ground
thanks to the down go up but I can't go
as high as I used to
that is the most basic code things that
can do is player I'm like so
programmer art is the best art it's it
is art in the most literal sense that I
made it it's with the program anyway
okay so the second gauge which is this
this pointing I like you can see what
I'm pointing at this this lawyer gage
here the yellow one and so normal to
choose that for for is ash and it
randomly picks which role it does but
hydra hydra in violence you know what
you do is as run along little faster
your people and just go a little faster
it has a second youths which we'll get
to when we talk about masteries but the
the most general thing is you're just
using it for the low speed boost it's
not it's not like super fast but it's
it's something it counts chuck more
about a little features on that gauge
and one of the ways you'll see them so
the dash is a special thing where while
you are dashing you can go beyond this
flight canopy thing so to bring back my
lovely mspaint so let's say our dash is
red sure
and so when you - you go to night and
then you - but if you - and you're like
near your canopy you can go a little
outside of them and then eventually
certain resets what it looks like okay
so you see I am out of plate juice so
I'm sitting at the top of the canopy -
it's hard to see you against a
background me on the go if I also Venus
when I hit the ground plate juice resets
like go back because you cut the ground
anyway so here and I dashed you see this
little brown little dude again there's a
little brown comes in from the right
side so what that's showing you is
that's how far over the canopy you've
gone and that guy added as a way to
solve there's a confusion going to
happen people would see that they were
out of energy so like if I'm if I'm here
and I'm out I'm out of this flight juice
and sometimes you would descend and
sometimes you sit still people were very
confused well why is it doing one thing
versus the other and the difference is
back on mileage other thing if you are
kids do you could be sitting here in
which case no problem
you don't descend but you couldn't be up
here and also has a vanishing in which
case you'll descend back down to the top
of the camping and so as long as you're
in this region here that little thing
from the right side fiddles and saying
like hey you're gonna drop once you're
out of energy you're in a descent size
of the femme Kings isn't like what does
this mean that's what it means other
neat things so something we played
around with the Gryphon way back which
was the ability to manually control
pitch and we found that it was actually
very hot so the mountain I keep like
getting hit myself
so like the original prototype of
Griffin had full like full aim the mouse
down you need I have a mouse up you
claim and probably found was because the
Griffins min and Max pitcher so steep it
was very hard to see where you were
actually going especially when you
pitched up you just can't see sky oh
this guy because it's not using the dive
to accelerate is if it doesn't have like
we'll just pretend that's not there
because it's not it's not it doesn't
have any like dive and accelerate
mechanic like Griffin does Elena's like
you know what we can do we can bring the
we can bring that sort of pitch control
back just with the lesser of Les McKeown
so you know this I'm gonna give up some
more little higher oh yeah go up so you
know I came up I came down it's only
about 30 degrees but just having a
little neat extra degree control if you
like well I don't I don't want to
descend I just kind of like get over
there sort of precisely I can't land on
this thing I'm gonna get up on this
thing up there a little my anything
control but it's useful when you -
cousin - will go in the direction you're
aiming if you like upwards and you can
especially just see how far over the
altitude cap you got there so if you
start from the bomb you kind of - up you
can get you get higher than you should
be and skater for a little bit
anyway so that's that's baseline well
this one this one it's not useful yet
the other thing you can do is you can
stick stick tools I'm sticking to it
what is this useful not until you have a
mastery but if you want just chill in
lionsearch and just have hang out on the
walls and scare people and judge them at
that is the thing you can do when you
have the mastery yeah well we will get
semesters
let me find dudu good cliff mmm okay
this is where you learn how how close
our geometry actually is like visible
and x-ray anyway the point is so I think
we want the Masters yes go for it so I'm
just be talking a lot I think I have I
do
how convenient guys come out are three
so the first one much like Griffin
you can mount this thing in the air I
will demonstrate as such so if I go over
here and I get in pretty simple second
one so it actually doesn't have anything
to do with flight mechanic specifically
but it's quite useful still yeah well
unfortunately this one right here this
way it's why I perked this year so
aleena among the many thinking she
worked on when an added a bunch of these
be called in-flight paddles internally
but they're these like rift repair
things and so like almost all the maps
in the game some maps have several it
was probably a huge pain did she tell
Pierre cuz I'm she's a rock Streeter and
so it's just a little glowy thing here
like what is this glowy thing and
because have mastery I can go fly into
it nigga those nerve ring close and then
she top a thing it says good this way
like let's go this way
if you'll notice while I'm going through
this watch my flight juice gauge the the
green bar and every time you get energy
it fills the idea is you just kind of
follow this path demential and then
while you're doing it you pick up some
old magic do thinking you'll do them
once a day but you can you can still do
them you just don't get the ball to
match gather them to do this is very
straightforward not all tomorrow
it's very end your thing you get a thing
and if you know this this is also a good
demonstration of I am way over my
altitude cap right now we're way up
there way way over and so once it's this
this green bar depletes and I'm out of
flight juice they don't start descending
seriously it's not super fast just ends
and so these these flight paths are all
over the place and it's just kind of a
fun thing to do and go easy Bo all the
magic end up in places you didn't expect
to be yeah
again that is you are in desert
Highlands this is not just in one map
they are all over she many things are
added it took a while yeah anyway so
that's the second now string yeah riff
trip getting away from things that can
shoot me yes I was like something's
hurting you please careful all right
last one
well launched this is this is sort of
the the most powerful tool of this the
thing that really opens up this mount so
we've done by accident a couple times by
those mentioning go over yonder beyond
you're a little faster so if you find a
nice wall you notice I'm like I'm slowly
burning off my flight juice because I'm
going forward like well here's a nice
swell
I'd like to go up on this wall I could
stick to the wall but what do I do
what you do is you hold down you jump
you know this this I'm pointing at it
like you can see what I'm pointing at
it's tempting and so the the half the ng
Garrett burns off a thing of
of juice we call it and then refills
your flight juice no let go up you go
now you have a little more flight it's
super useful it is very strong and so if
you notice now I'm using this you can
watch the the right side of the bar oh
man I'm getting up over my alts UK up a
little bit
what you need is use this thing to sort
of reversal on canyons to get up like
extra tall cliffs gives you little extra
jump is very good if I bring back my
super overloaded drawings so let's go
the other direction so if I have been
traveling this way and I'm traveling
this way and now my elf they my flight
cylinder ish thing is over here but I
pick a fringe I don't know and so I jump
I hit him I hit a wall and I get a jump
and they jump up here what happens when
you have something that gains Flay G's
for example those a little the energy
things in the flight path before or
jumping off a wall it'll try to push the
cylinder back up as far as it can
okay so it won't go past its original
height will never go past here but it
can sort of restore the height a little
bit that means is if you're traveling a
long distance but you have a lot of
caning wall to work with like like this
example I can just kind of keep going
along this wall as long as I've got
energy but I can't but I can't go over
my original light eventually out that
the brown bark expecting says no no no
you can't go higher than this like a
single pretty guy
it's very good you have a good view but
it's very strong yes it's too lovely
wonderful so we can try it like just
sure generally how those things use
you've got okay can I get up to the top
of that cliff from the bottom answers
yes I've got I did a yesterday Marples
this is very loud so let's start so the
way to use this thing it's a lot
kinda like I use a springer you're
looking for little outcroppings little
things you can stand on doesn't every
stand it resets the baseline for your
flight altitude banger words words hard
fingers fingers good thing your works
and the other thing is you have the
cheat button which is your shield seven
if you know that's also when I'm
tripping to the wall this bar does it
not refill you basically everything's
paused well your old onto the wall and
and the plate thing is paused
everything's about us so I think I think
I messed up and didn't find the
outcropping I was looking for so I would
cheat push the 7th just gives you some
flake juice back you see all your energy
back let's keep going oh he knows
I get there yes I can ha ha success
alright and now it's easy I think I got
the hardest part hey if you notice I
probably should wait for my energy to
regen but it's okay you got this
probably make that I cannot make that
mistakes are made so another thing to
point out well I am sticking on the wall
here you're still seven also does not
recharge if you discover that was a
wonderful exploit Park on the wall and
then wait for skill seven to come back
and push it again and then you just kind
of keep going out forever
so everything just sort of pauses why
you're secure the wall anyway pretend I
made it up there just we will pretend
the thing that you were deliberately
demonstrating here is that it takes some
getting used to it is the the main thing
of skill that's the the main sort of
hard thing to do with this is judged how
high you can go with the amount of
energy you have what things can you get
on what things can you not make it to
what thing when you really need you burn
your your on to bigger etcetera
it's also if you know it's kind of slow
like relative to Springer which is
another point I want to bring up yes
please which is sort of the well okay
this thing seems really good why would I
why would they use this finger where are
you you're funny well Grif is faster so
that's easy
alright let's let's change very fast no
not no hydrosis
there's no so if I get the as part of
this update the Springer's chart speed
is much faster so for example if I just
want to get up on this little finger
here not messed up my distance I said
done good job me um you know that says a
lot faster in his own life and that is
as the way to keep us in competitive and
still viable in the posts Casio world it
churches a lot faster and so if you are
running it like struck hills short
little just small things to jump on just
use spring works if you have it further
if you need to go up a really high cliff
or or you were just worried you're going
to miss which can happen sky so better
because you can spark like I'll just
kind of chill here and like oh no I
misjudged I guess all like move around a
little
so they're both still quite useful and
Griffin Griffin it's always going to be
fast you have the need for speed
another thing we don't talk about I
think that's most movement most of the
movement are you planning on talking
about the engage because you should have
you worked that was yes
so the nations also go up I'll have many
behind the scenes things to talk about
yeah last thing because it is
surprisingly complicated so it works
I'll just show it is it makes that sound
wait now yes so there was a while and it
didn't have sound in which case I would
always make I was gonna borrow whenever
we do it um another another view of the
dragon they review the actual drain
and so people notice I unlike all the
other mounts you were jumping off the
dragon before it delivers the attack
which is partially lies because the
Dragons not actually real character but
we can get into that next time it's
that's how all the mounts work so it's
it's basically the the dragon animation
sort of goes forward and then missile
shoots from up there and lands the
ground and point is riggers fire you get
to see this cool cinematic tape like
dragony thing or visible and then as its
breeding for air you can run up and like
be people with your sort of stuff anyway
best engage go it's uh it burns things
as skills do you gotta have a skill on a
dragon the burns yeah well I mean we can
be right to have dragon that didn't
breathe fire like I feel like this is
sort of a requisite fire there is a
question from several people in chat and
then I actually don't know the answer to
does this count as any kind of combo
field yes it's far field it's fire field
all right there is perfect yes it is I
was actually dad that changed when in
something like Oh No yes you have you
guys are busy
so that's alright that's that's dragon
that is our sky scale for now and there
will be lots more after OH
use it you use it while flying the if
you push this go woman and you're too
high you'll just kind of descend
probably show you guys that you said is
your actual descend much like if you get
too close you'll just engage but you
could if you wanted it is it gets closer
to the ground there's like alright we're
close enough now we're gonna
see I do it without thinking okay so
like I'm Griffin also get just to show
the difference in wingspan think we're
talking either earlier Oh Outlands and
then you can see a separate site yeah I
could definitely tell the difference
these vast appendages oh my goodness Wow
but you go faster it's got smaller look
at how much has to go it's like small
medium large so there's an igon Griffin
you can push to get one and that will
dive you and if you're grounding explode
I killed the crap apparently I'm sorry
so this thinking can same way just
wanted to go down I think it's a little
bit of a difference in where it appears
to with the attack radius between the
dragon and the Griffin the dragon is
designed to since you kind of jump a
little bit in any breeze fire it's
designed to kind of the attacker is
designed kind of up here in front of it
so like if you're if you're running for
it
shoot this thing indicator will appear
more or less around me as you can move
like thanksful getting you see like
where where is the where's the attack
land and it's okay what are they gonna
use here I should I should launch it for
back here because that's where it landed
it's not just fine what else what else
got some minors and stuff like think
we're talking about about wings clipped
into the ground cific it close enough to
the ground it'll just kind of other
descends and I will be soldiers death
they won't do that over water because I
found that was very frustrating let's
Auto descend into other inner circle
nope
what you're is fortunate that dragons
cannot swim what I know madness I know
you think they'd be good at it but there
is what you having or something which
doesn't make sense but point is Maegan
stuff I'm sure but but you know we have
a second life story that's right What
evil has things we talked about and
later this month they will all see it
for themselves
mm-hmm right soon all right
was your sky scale preview Joel Kate
thank you so much for helping us even
get a preview so all of you have a
little head start on how your sky scale
mount will work so thank you all for
spending some time with us and we will
see you again soon
and we will see you all in game thanks
everybody thank you goodbye
