- I don't know what you are asking. Are one of these what you were wanting? To get that stats in the box just needed to add {{#if: {{{stats|}}} | ;[[Attribute|Stats]]:{{{stats|}}} |}} in there where you wanted it. 01:01, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

DPL[edit]
- → moved from User talk:Mattsta/Sandbox
*sigh* you are good :D Lasha 05:04, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks :) The dungeon mobs get put into the bottom section by being in both the Category:Ascalonian_ghosts and in Category:Dungeon_bestiary. So the rest of the mobs need to be put in that 2nd category as I only did that one to test it. If there are any other dungeon mobs we know of they could put those in the dungeon bestiary category as well. I created it just to sort the DPL and the dpl list looks for what pages are in both categories to populate the bottom list (and looks for what is in Category:Ascalonian_ghosts but Not Category:Dungeon_bestiary for the top list).
- The dpl seems to organize by the order the pages are listed in the category, so I think it is pretty much set that they are going to sort alphabetically by name. I was thinking maybe we could set it up like:
Ascalon | Ascalonian Fighter | 1, 19, 48 | Ghostly Remains |
- I am not a big fan of how the list now is sorting by something in the middle of that pack of info. Would rather the mob name be first if that is how it is going to sort them. 06:34, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I would do several cataloging the NPC mobs in this case.
- Type of monster
- Affiliation
- World (Region) / Dungeon (Dungeon Name)
- So, for a Champion:
- Ghost
- Ascalonian ghost
- Catacombs of Ascalon
- The world would
- Ghost
- Ascalonian ghost
- Ascalon
- And they could do without problems choosing different lists to display data. And do not complicate your cataloging. Then, if you fancy, you can get a list of all the monsters in a dungeon or a page type Ghosts. What do you think? Lasha 07:17, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I was testing something while you were writing this and it worked. We don't need that Category:Dungeon_bestiary to sort the different regions out. Now it takes the region that is listed on the page and if the region is the same there as what region you want for that section of the list then it puts it in that section. I was thinking how you would call a template like how I had it set up before and thought this might be easier. Now you would put in what you want for the region title and it auto looks at the pages to see which ones have that name as it's region to populate the section. Would just need to standardize the npc infobox as some of the pages have Ascalon for the region and others have individual maps in Ascalon, which messes what I just did up a bit.
- I thought of this for when we do like undead, which would have Orr undead and Tarnished Coast undead all listed under undead, then you call the Undead category and name the sections and it does the rest. Though your category idea sounds like it would work just as well with what I had before and wouldn't need to worry about typo's on the NPC infobox.
- What do you think of the line order I put above. 07:34, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- It seems right. I still I have not knowledge of the operation of the wiki and its resources. Right now I have more ideas than solutions. It is best that you understand me and you built better than me ;) Lasha 07:46, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Two things. One, monsters don't line up with professions. Yes it does say "mesmer/warrior/whatever" but that does not mean the monster is actually that profession. In GW2, really only players have professions. Two, I was messing around with condensing "veteran/captain/boss/elite/whatever" versions of monsters into a single page. See here and tell me what you think. Aqua (T|C) 00:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought about the monsters not lining up with the professions when I first put that into the dpl, but I was on a one track mind to get the dpl working so I just went with it. Something I thought of just now after reading your message and other page is don't most mobs stay in a range/melee mode? So like ranger/mage mobs won't run up to you while warrior type mobs will run up to melee range. Since they don't follow professions but if they do follow this range/melee mode we could make a ranged tango and melee tango to give an idea of what these mobs will be doing. Could be like an arrow for ranged and crossed swords for melee. That way they could look at this list and instantly know what is going to happen when they encounter these mobs then they go to like your npc layout and see more in depth what to expect. Could maybe even have that be what the icon that is in the upper right of the npc infobox has in it since it doesn't seem to have a purpose for mobs atm.
- As for your page, I like it and looks like my dpl would still work with it. :) Could have this dpl just list the normal name then the level could show like 'Normal level' ('Veteran level'), so 'Ascalonian Warrior 35 (35)'. 02:08, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- I, too, was thinking of classifying monsters by combat actions. I'm pretty sure we need a "foe" infobox anyway. How about, support, melee, ranged... Or we could take it really far, and assess foes on several levels, though I'm not entirely sure what those would be... As for the way to put veteran/champion/whatever into the dpls, I was thinking something like this:

35 Ascalonian Warrior
|
- Or something like that. Aqua (T|C) 03:25, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Alright yeah, that looks cool for the dpls. Support, melee, and ranged sounds good for classifying monsters. If it gets too much more involved/complicated then I think it wouldn't work as well as just having the 3 roles. What we could do if we visualize those with tangoes/icons, is color code them to match the monsters aggressiveness. So a yellow support, melee, and ranged for the passive monsters that don't aggro unless attacked and then a red support, melee, and ranged for full on aggro monsters. 03:47, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm saying silly but it could use the NPC icon (Vendor, weaponsmith, weaponssmith-Karma...) being the aggro for the monsters? Lasha 05:32, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Crafting DPL[edit]
- → moved from User talk:Mattsta/Sandbox2
OMG!!!! This is EXACTLY what I'm trying to do. Would you mind if I copied your code so at least I have a starting place to format it exactly how I'm wanting to? Jfarris964 15:19, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, go ahead. There is a problem with the pages that have more than one recipe like Bronze Dagger and it doesn't show anything from that page. I have an idea that might fix it though. I think if we made subpages (like Bronze_Dagger/Mighty_Bronze_Dagger and Bronze_Dagger/Festering_Bronze_Dagger) that only have the recipes on them it would work for the list. Then we could just transclude those subpage recipes onto the main item page and it would still look like it does now.
- After we get the kinks worked out and how to format it, then I think this would be an excellent thing to make an actual wiki page for. 20:52, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- I copied your code and worked with it a little bit on my Sandbox page. I figured out a way to pull the proper picture icons from the pages and reformatted the table (to be more pleasing to me :-) ). I have some specific questions regarding the use of some of the code...I just don't understand it. For example, the superscript 2's. What do they do? Jfarris964 20:57, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Again....nice job!!! I saw that you had sorted the table and produced indented lists as well as pulling all of the appropriate skill icons. I copied your code over to my page again and will try to do some tweaking there. I'm not exactly sure what I'm still wanting out of my tables, but I AM sure that once the game comes out, I'll want more. Thanks again for all of your help. If I come up with anything new, I'll be sure to let you know. Jfarris964 14:42, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've made a few more changes to the code to add the icons for the materials and created a template to use so that you can repeat the code easily by just changing the discipline in the template call. I also removed the #ifexist reference when checking for the recipe icon, because once you add more than one list of recipes, an error pops up stating there are too many expensive calls on the page. I don't really mind just having the red 20px link in the beginning....it shows me there isn't a picture for it yet. The issues I'm having now have to do with the table itself and not the data in it. I've tried creating a sortable table within a collapsible table so that when the page is loaded, all of the tables are collapsed. The problem is that the table won't collapse, even if you click the "Show / Hide" link. If you wouldn't mind taking a look at the code for the template itself , I would really appreciate it. Thanks again for all your help. Jfarris964 18:47, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I also got the Bronze Daggers in the table. Really was just making a subpage for each individual recipe. I forgot that #ifexist can only be used so many times per page, and as you say the red 20px makes it easy to see which icons still need to be added. And hopefully we will get to the point that there won't be any missing icons. I fixed your template with the collapsible table. The problem was that you needed to start another row before the next table. It was trying to tack the dpl table onto the end of the header which is why it wasn't collapsing. Also, there was an extra {Recipe}:amt-4 being called at the end of your input line. Was writing 111 before the dpl table on half your lists so I took it out and the 111 is gone. 20:35, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Beta Keys[edit]
I have 8 beta keys from PAX East (<3 Martin) that I want to give out to you wikians (people who frequent the wiki, like canadian but wiki). These keys only work for the April Beta weekend that will be coming up sometime soon. At first I want this to go to anyone who would already be in beta but is having trouble, like maybe your retailer is being dumb or you don't have the money to pre-purchase until next month or whatever. Reply here with why you need the key and if it sounds legit then I will message you the key. You can go ahead and reply immediately but I won't started handing out the keys until probably this weekend (April 14-ish). I will decide at my own discretion to whom I will give the beta keys.
The Wednesday before the Beta Weekend (so a couple days before the beta starts) any keys I have left will be up for whoever wants them as long as they are going to be used. Have a friend who is on the fence and think the beta will convince him to buy GW2? Again, say why you want the key and if it sounds legit I will message you the key. Wanting a second beta account is not legit. I will make a post when this point comes and how many keys I have left. This round will be first-come-first-serve even more so than the first round. 02:31, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have been looking forward to playing Guild Wars 2 for many years, but I am still not sure I will physically really be able to play it. My right hand does not work very well. I have always used click-to-move in games. My right hand is not very good at finding keys in the middle of the keyboard, but manages ok with the arrow keys, or the number keys, since there's a space above them. Since I need my left hand to activate skills, and my right to move, I'm not sure how I'm going to place things that require the mouse, without wasting potentially valuable time moving my hand from the keyboard, to the mouse, and back, or how to keep the camera situated optimally without moving it all the time, as I did in Guild Wars. Attempts to play Guild Wars 1 with two hands on the keyboard have not been encouraging. I haven't pre-purchased yet because of this concern. A less important reason is my computer is getting old and may or may not need to upgraded to play Guild Wars 2 satisfactorily. Manifold 03:52, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have a friend who is a longtime wow player, but after showing him a few videos (read: constantly harassing him for months), he kind of became interested in the game. However, he'd love to try the betas but is not convinced enough to buy the game just yet without trying. Like you said, he is pretty much on the fence and if he could play the beta with me, I think it would help him finally realize this game is worth it. In any case, thanks for doing this at all. ***EAGLEMUT*** TALK 01:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have a friend like that too, but I'm not sure how much fence pushing is needed, or if she even has a machine capable of running the game right now. If not, I have a friend who would most likely get it at a later date, but doesn't know if it would run on bootcamp for him, so that would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. I'd humbly take one of those pesky keys off of you at lowest priority. --zeeZ (talk) 01:13, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

- I'd like to give this a shot, since I believe my situation would apply here :) I live in Romania, I'm the founder of the Romanian Guild Wars 2 community and the leader of one of our community guilds. Since we've got no retailers selling Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition here in Romania, I've pre-purchased it from Zavvi (UK). Now, the issue with Zavvi is that they're only delivering the beta keys via postal mail instead of email. This means it might take anywhere between 7-10 working days for me to get the package with the beta access key. They already confirmed they sent it out on April 12th (which also happened to be my birthday), but I'm afraid it's very likely I might not get that key in due time (I’m supposed to be receiving it late next week or more probably the week after that). I am also perfectly aware I should be able to attend all future BWEs once I get the access key, however this first BWE is a bit more significant as it’s the first get-together of our entire guild (everyone else got the Digital Standard/Deluxe version, so they have their keys), and it would not be fun for me – as a guild/community leader – to miss that get-together. With this being said, hopefully one of your spare keys will get me into the April BWE. If not for anything else, getting the key would at least make for an amazing late birthday present :) --Tudy, 00:45, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sent out keys up to this point so I have 4 keys left. Not as many replies as I was worried about so went ahead and send keys to Eagle and Zeez for their friends. I won't wait until closer to the BWE on requests for friends like I originally said, so if you are having problems and need the key or if you have a friend who is in need of a key go ahead and reply. 02:36, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- You can send me the key if you still have one available. I'll probably wait a day or two to hear from customs whether the beta key package will be arriving soon or not, before actually using your key. If I’ll get my CE beta key in time, we’ll most likely have a giveaway contest of sorts for the people in our community so that the key is not wasted. Thanks! --Tudy, 04:15, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

- I'd like to try my luck as well on this. I am currently a part of a guild in Lord of the Rings Online (Co-leader actually, its called Keepers of Silmarils, and we dwell on the Laurelin server), and I really want to bring the guild over to Guild Wars 2, based on the epic videos I've seen, I think it will fit us very good. With that in mind, I am looking for a key for our guild leader. He is considering to purchase Guild Wars 2, and I think by showing him one weekend in Guild Wars 2, he'll be compleatly sold. Myself I'll get a key through my pre-purchase, but he's a poor student currently working for free as a teacher trainee, so he won't be able to spend 50 euros on a game that he does not know wether or not he will enjoy. Please help a long-time follower of Guild Wars 2, to manipulate his friends over to this amazing game :) Thank you -- Blystad, 03:07, 15 April (UTC)
- I've been an avid player of Guild Wars since the beginning, but due to my current financial situation, I haven't been able to prepurchase Guild Wars 2 yet and I'm afraid that I won't be able to buy the game until some time much later in the future. I've been watching the development of the game closely since it was announced, and trying to do my part to help out the wiki where I can (I hope my contributions are visible). I may not be able to play the game immediately after launch, but I would love the opportunity to play in the beta. I hope being an IP doesn't deter you. Thanks Mattsta. --140.211.43.65 08:53, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I would love to get one of these for my best friend. We have both been playing Guild Wars for years and is actually how we met. Image Icons[edit]
No idea where to ask this. The different types of Salvage Kits (Basic, Fine, Journeyman's, Master's) all currently use the same icon. Does that need to be re-uploaded so each has its own file named after it or just update the pages to all point to File:Basic Salvage Kit.jpg? 20:31, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- In general, the icon is uploaded under each name. This is because the item infobox template looks for the name provided for the item, or the name of the article the infobox is placed on when displaying the item icon. --140.211.43.65 20:36, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Until the salvage kits have unique icons, I would recommend uploading a single icon under the name Salvage Kit.png and using that as icon for all the infoboxes. - Infinite - talk 20:49, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- I would actually recommend the opposite. Uploading them as separate files directly is a lot easier than replacing every use when/if they get different icons. — Rhoot 00:49, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Dailies[edit]
Hey, I am wondering where you got the information for this edit from. Do you have a source? Thanks! poke | talk 10:10, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- For some reason after the big content patch, if you change your system clock it will show the different day's dailies (though you can't complete different days as the server still does that part). It was mentioned a little while back (maybe in Colin 2013 blog post) that dailies would be set up with different dailies for each day of the week. So I went and looked at the next couple of weeks to check and they are indeed set up with those dailies for those days. 02:18, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
