Troll's Revenge JP[edit]

Did you do all those screenshots+arrows yourself?? Regardless, well done! Hats off, etc. :D -- Flakkenmarsh (talk) 15:53, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, just like for Drydock Scratch. :) It did take a couple hours, but I'm hoping it will be of some use to someone. Anyway, thanks ^^. User Noxx Sig.png 15:57, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
Saw your screenshots, kept falling off the jump after the nets before end of chest 1, figure its just me being superbad today. Useful though. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:40, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
You mean the first jump in step 1h, around the corner of the house? That is a tricky one, you need to change direction in mid-air, unfortunately I don't know about any other paths in that section... User Noxx Sig.png 17:48, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Specialization's wikipage[edit]

Noxx you did an amazing job on specialization, my OCD feels much better now XD – Keltz 14:10, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! User Noxx Sig.png 16:03, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Contained in template[edit]

My bad! After replacing it with item icon, I intended to update the related pages, but got distracted by something else. Thanks for the clean-up, though. —Ventriloquist 09:57, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

No problem, I was planning to change them eventually anyway, you just spurred me on. :) User Noxx Sig.png 12:50, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Recipes[edit]

Remember to include the source parameter in recipes so the item infobox can pull up recipe information. The discipline parameter isn't in the item infobox, so you might want to check what you're copypasting from.--Relyk ~ talk < 05:21, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

I wanted to fill in the requirements for Anthology of Villains but I don't have a scribe in-game so instead I pulled the recipes from the API via GW2BLTC, which unfortunately doesn't state the source and I wasn't sure if you'd learn them automatically.
And sorry about the discipline; I copied it from Sheet of Quality Paper but I must have been sleepy and added the parameter to the wrong template... I honestly don't remember doing that. :D User Noxx Sig.png 10:09, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Scholar Gleena[edit]

Hiya, Is there a reason why you removed the armor/weapon chests from this npc's list? As far as I know they are still there... -Darqam (talk) 16:01, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

No, I just accidentally copy-pasted over them... They're back now, thanks for letting me know! User Noxx Sig.png 16:22, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

God damn newlines in infoboxes[edit]

I'm either useless or people put variables on newlines for absolutely no reason to mess with me. Sorry. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:50, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

I didn't even realize they're usually on a single line, I just saw the skill facts appearing on Renegade. But when I then noticed it was you who removed that line in the first place, I was uncertain of the edit... ^^ User Noxx Sig.png 17:59, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Styled timestamp in signature[edit]

How'd you style your timestamp in your signature? It isn't obvious to me how that might be done without having two timestamps. ~ Fishrock (talk) 18:31, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

When signing comments, you can choose how much or how little you'd like to appear. For instance:
So, you can game the system by putting the time stamp into your regular signature by adding five tildes to it at the end. E.g. using ~ Fishrock (talk) ~~~~~, and then always signing your name with just three tildes. G R E E N E R 20:09, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Just tried that, doesn't seem to work for me. The ~~~~~ is just stripped out entirely. :/ ~ Fishrock (talk) 20:21, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Noxx actually modifies the signature insert button. See User:Noxx/monobook.js. You can replicate this by editing your own custom script sheet (Special:MyPage/monobook.js). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 23:34, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
I did in fact use that custom script before, but then it stopped working years ago and I never bothered to fix it (or even look how it was supposed to work, I just found it somewhere). Since I don't usually take part in that many discussions on the wiki, I simply had a file on hand with the text <span style="color:#666;font-size:75%"> ~~~~~</span> and copied it whenever necessary. But since Alex pointed at the script now, I felt obligated to make it work again, so feel free to use it as well. ^^ User Noxx Sig.png 17:49, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Oh, nice - thanks! :D ~ Fishrock (talk) 18:03, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Collapsible navs[edit]

Good work, I hate collapsible stuff. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 09:03, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I was thinking that you might approve of this. :D User Noxx Sig.png 09:05, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Skill lists[edit]

Hello! I have used your skill list template to make, in my user space, skill lists showing the skill facts for a few of the specializations - see my user page if you want to check what they look like. I haven't added them to the wiki itself due to the concern about loading times, but in a harder to find place I think they work. Thank you, it's great to have skill lists with all the information about the skills. Erasculio 12:12, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Help pages[edit]

Hey Noxx! Just getting myself caught up after the holiday, and so much has already been worked on since the AMA! Just wanted to say thanks for helping out with the editing guides (and I'm also extending the thanks to everyone else whose talk pages I'm unfortunately not going to get to this morning). Your work is truly appreciated! Greener (talk) 16:39, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Thanks! To be fair I did start working on that guide 4 years ago and it took until this AMA for me to finish it, but I'm glad it was so well received so far and that it can finally be of use. ^^ Now I just hope this will actually incentivize someone to join the community to offset the fact that I'm personally contributing a lot less than I'd like to. :D User Noxx Sig.png 20:47, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions![edit]

I liked your signature image, so I came to peek at your corner of the wiki. I love the wiki, and you're a major reason why - people helping people. Thank you for your contributions! Jesself (talk) 18:02, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

API discrepancies[edit]

Hey, i've partially reverted your edit on Ember Bay because it was inaccurate. The /maps and /continents endpoints list different regions for several maps. The infobox uses the (wrong) /maps endpoint, while the interactive map uses the /continents one, which lists the map in the correct region. Also please note that a change in the infobox value "within" causes breaks in SMW lookups, such as the map widget uses. If you're unsure, ask on the talk page. Thanks! --Smiley™ de: user | talk 22:18, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Infobox should reflect how the game behaves mechanically, in this case the daily gather stuff counts as maguuma. You may recall you added a region_id parameter to cater for this type of anomaly. If we use the following,

plus maguuma in the infobox, everything works. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:29, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
Ah, Alex again blaming me for a thing that's clearly not my fault. Go on, check the two endpoints. Also, i disagree that the infobox should reflect the incorrect mechanical region, which is in fact the anomaly. But the talk page of a bystander is not the place for this discussion. Also, i know how the map widget works - i fucking wrote it. --Smiley™ de: user | talk 22:38, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
Saying Ember Bay is in the Heart of Maguuma is just as geographically incorrect as saying Mount Maelstrom is in the Maguuma Jungle or Domain of Istan is in the Crystal Desert. Unfortunately that's how the game behaves in things where regions matter, primarily in achievements.
But I wasn't aware that two API endpoints provide conflicting information on this, that makes this an even worse anomaly than I thought (and it makes me shudder to think how are regions actually defined in the backend). Maybe we could just display both in the infobox? (Yes, I'm aware that would break everything and it probably isn't worth doing. :P) At the very least, though, I'd argue this information should be clearly visible at the top of the page, such as in the first paragraph, not just in a footnote under the entire article. However, this is not a hill I'm willing to die on, so whatever... User Noxx Sig.png 06:40, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Hm, on a closer inspection, the /continents endpoint also names the regions of Tarnished Coast or Steamspur Mountains we don't use in the infobox either. It almost sounds like there are two distinct and conflicting sets of mechanical regions... User Noxx Sig.png 07:00, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
