Talk:Hungry cat scavenger hunt

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki

Not sure what the usual guidelines are for "possible references", but the Decline dialogue seems to be worded very similar to the South Park "No kitty, this is mine" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU7RjG5aBc0

Been thinking that myself, actually. SarielV 20 x 20px 20:55, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
This is one of those things I'd rather confirm directly with staff than speculate, only because it sounds like me talking to my cat at dinner(ie a common phrase). - Doodleplex 20:58, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

glitch?[edit]

is the Revenant cat bugged or something? I've been trying to encounter it for days but since the halloween decor went up, I haven't seen it. --99.190.189.14 17:48, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

It might have been forgotten when they switched the decorations. The guild league leaderboard has been removed as well for example. I'm sure it will come back after Halloween ends. Tyndel (talk) 17:58, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Bitterfrost snow leopard[edit]

Should we include the snow leopard cub in Bitterfrost Frontier? It's not hungry but otherwise it's exactly the same as the other cats on the list. Danikat (talk) 22:53, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/11/30[edit]

I don't know which previous cat triggers the 'dead bird', or if just having any cat does so, but it seems collecting the Snow Leopard cub triggers the 'dead bird' at the entrance, as well. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 09:24, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

The Lions Arch [Eastern Waypoint] and Queensdale [Beetlerun waypoint] cats together would cause the dead bird to appear after a few days. It does reappear sometimes so it may not have been specifically caused by the snow leopard unless that's the only cat to have been collected. J.Tesla (talk) 09:51, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
Again, posters on the forum state that the 'dead bird' appears after the first cat they collect. The first cat collected in these cases is not from Lion's Arch nor Queensdale, nor have they collected more than one cat. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 10:24, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
I only have the snow leopard cub (because I don't go out of my way to get cats), and it triggers a dead bird occasionally. I'd say any one cat will trigger it. Konig (talk) 12:12, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

"Day" kitten[edit]

The black kitten in the Grove was not hungry during "Dusk" (03:40 server time) or "Dawn" (04:25 server). This should probably be clarified, since there's functional states and cycle stages. --BryghtShadow (talk) 04:26, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Is there a way to print just the table?[edit]

I would like to have a paper copy of this that I can write notes on. Is there a way to print just the table? I tried Internet Explorer, and it only can print the first section. I tried Chrome, and it appears like it could do it, but the pages are messed up. Daddicus (talk) 23:41, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Try this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=User:Chieftain_Alex/sandbox3&printable=yes
Either print that directly, or copy the table and paste it into Microsoft Word. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:32, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Perfect! Thank you!!!Daddicus (talk) 00:59, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/02/02[edit]

Could the list of cats be modified to include the date introduced so we can sort by oldest to newest? This would make finding new cats easier. U did a bit of initial work, but I'm not 100% convinced my dates are accurate. Ideally I also would like it to sort by date as well. --Serena sedai (talk) 01:31, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Oh goodness, I missed this comment AND your fixes to the table! Well done and very much appreciated! G R E E N E R 18:37, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

In the game is there an achievement toggle to know which cats you have fed and which still remain? KatieBoom (talk) 01:49, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

No, there is no known achievement regarding the cats Sythe 01:54, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/02/08[edit]

I saw a ghost cat in Doric Lake. I was able to talk with it, but did not have any food on me. The location is south of Noran's Homestead It seemed to have disappear a few minutes later. --76.172.57.216 02:31, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

During the story mission Confessor's End, there is a cat on the second floor, East wing, first door on the left. Fed it a bowl of bloodstone goulash which made it happy.

Redirect[edit]

I'm not sure how to do it, but is it possible for someone to set up a redirect here from "Hungry Cat/s"? Doing "/wiki Hungry Cats" in-game takes me to the list of possible matches, where I have to go through the home instance page to get here. Doing the redirect would probably make it easier on a lot of people. 141.168.231.76 22:05, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Simple to do, and I like it. I'll get right on it. SarielV 20 x 20px 22:10, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/02/17[edit]

It seems the list of Hungry Cats has been alphabetized, instead of the previous chronological list. I know I'd prefer the chronological one. Others' thoughts?. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 05:38, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

That's the default because it's sortable. Just click on the column name to sort it by date. - Doodleplex 05:42, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
Oh! Cool! No idea how it got on 'default'. Thanks so much for the information. =) Inculpatus cedo (talk) 05:56, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/03/02[edit]

hallo someone better at wiki than me, please edit the Snow Leopard Cub section to reflect there are multiple cubs, and you must unfreeze the right one. so other people don't, like me, unfreeze the non-home instnace ones and have to go back and make a new elixir. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.61.218.229 (talk) at 14:20, 2 March 2017 (UTC).

There is already the statement: "Rescuing the frozen Snow Leopard Cub near the Bitterfrost Frontier Insight: The Bitter Cold will make him appear in your home instance and follow you around. You do not need to feed him anything, but you must thaw him out with Koda's Flame and you must be under the effects of Cold Resistance, when rescued he gets Infatuated's visual effect." Since any other cub you un-thaw dies upon release, none of them get the infatuated effect as indicated. So I'm not sure what else should be added. -Darqam 14:24, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Just as a heads up, you can get the snow leopard without drinking a thaw elixir. You just have to be quick because you die right away. --68.230.105.144 15:38, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Very handy! Send your thanks to Alex. We pay him in strudels, though with him being in the EU, I've had to eat his salary rather than try to ship it. G R E E N E R 10:01, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Alex. I'd put it on his/her page, but no idea how to start a new topic. Duh. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 10:55, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

Does it really send one's API key out to everyone when using, or is the email I just got a fluke, or someone didn't use it correctly? Because if it does send out the key, I'm afraid I won't be using it, anymore. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 21:33, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
I just ran through the process myself (it's my first time using an API key). I found no email sent to me at any point. The steps I took:
  1. Clicked on the link provided on the page, below the list of cats. - I was sent to the GW2 website.
  2. Logged in to the GW2 website.
  3. Chose the options which I wanted for my key, then generated it.
  4. Copied the key which I was given into the wiki page.
  5. Pressed Apply, and had the cats which I already have got greyed out.
If any any point you've received an email (such as one right now concerning MY account), or were told you were to receive one, please let us know. There is an off chance that someone may have used the wiki to email you their key, but I can't imagine why. G R E E N E R 21:49, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I just did, else I would not have written. You should have, as well, it was some anonymous person's edit-email, and it included his/her key. I don't get edit-emails sent to me when I edit, so, I don't know if using the Widget was counted as an edit. But, I didn't get an email when you used the Widget, so I guess it was just that the anonymous person did something odd/incorrect. Thanks. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:01, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Hmmm, is this page currently on your "Watchlist"? Looking at the history, I see this edit, which would have emailed everyone who is currently watching this page for updates. G R E E N E R 22:10, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes, and yes. All explained in the email; sorry for any confusion. All seems well enough. Thanks. (Off-topic - I really need to follow-up on your instructions to get a cool signature...if I'm going to be hanging around here this much. Lol.) Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:18, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
If you still want a quick explanation. Somehow anon edited the page by adding a whitespace, and the putting his API key in the edit summary. So when he submitted the edit, the API key was emailed to certain people since the watchlist sends info about the edit summary. So basically a snafu on anon's part. -Darqam 15:32, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Dead Bird[edit]

Is it possible to get rid of that nasty object once and forever? Or it will eternally be brought to my home area with some period of time, once I had picked up a wrong cat? If someone have successfully removed it, give an advice, please. --109.252.108.155 10:45, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

I thought it stops spawning the first time you interact with it? I haven't seen a dead bird since I got it, which was a long time ago. —Ventriloquist 10:59, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
It keeps spawning for me every now and then. I sometimes removed it, but nowadays I just ignore it as it will come back anyway :/ -- kazerniel (talk) 12:59, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Caged cat in the krait base at Nonmoa Lake - Timberline Falls.[edit]

It appears like you can select it (somehow) other wise it doesn't seem like I can talk to it. It could be an Easter egg or i'm just not doing it right. But at the very top of the krait structure with the toxic krait you'll find the cat.

Duplications in some of the links -- waypoints etc. I didn't have time to troubleshoot and they weren't obvious in the source. (See revenant only cat for example.)

Thanks for the bug report. The bug comes from not setting the game ID on the waypoint on the area page for Hall of Memories. I'm investigating another related bug to test for extent-of-condition on other pages. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:28, 17 February 2018 (UTC)

Snow Leopard Cub bugged[edit]

It doesn't appear at all for me in the Rata Sum home instance. In the Grove it did appear, approached, then just kinda stood in place regardless of where I went. Then when I tried to jolt it out with that Holoscepter Wand, it moonwalked up a ramp away from me, then clipped through the roof O.o In DR it approached, then just kinda ran away into the pub and disappeared xd -- kazerniel (talk) 21:16, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

You should report it on the official forum or /bug command if you believe you found a bug. 24.8.109.201 03:24, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
Ok, apparently it works fine most of the time, it was just bugged in the first few days after I unlocked it, for some reason. -- kazerniel (talk) 13:00, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

API key form fill?[edit]

While I love the funcion, is there any way for letting the browser remember my API key? (eg. in the dropdown list like any other form fill) It's a bit annoying to have to dig out my API key from another site every single time I want to check my cat unlock status, and even a page refresh resets it. -- kazerniel (talk) 13:05, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

If you use Typio Form Recovery extension, it remembers what you wrote where. It replaced Lazarus, and is a great helper when writing something on wiki without the fear of losing the text if there is an error. Sime (talk) 14:39, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
We already have some widgets that store the API key with local storage/cookies, it's like the wardrobe widget or something. We'd ast it to the scavenger hunt widget.--Relyk ~ talk < 19:33, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
None of the widgets store a user's submitted API key at the moment. We could consider adding such a feature.
What you may be thinking of is either Widget:Event timer (using HTML5 localstorage) or Widget:No interwiki search (using a cookie), both of which store user preferences, however neither use the API key. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:37, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
I've added the requested feature. Let me know if you encounter any issues. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:15, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
Yay, it works, you're great :) -- kazerniel (talk) 21:18, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

API Key not working[edit]

I am copying and pasting my API key and it isnt working...?

Does your API key have the progression permission? if not that's the issue. If it has and still isn't working, there might be a problem with the widget. Also: Sometimes it takes a little for the table to refresh, did you try waiting after hitting apply? Almdudler (talk) 07:09, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
I did select the Permissions radio button. When I enter the API Key it is in red font, after I press enter it is still in red font and no cats are greyed out.
Friend of mine had a similar issue with his api key on a different site: Can you check if your API key has this count of characters (numbers and letters): 8-4-4-4-20-4-4-4-12 (total counter: 64 alphanumeric characters + 8 hypens (-). His key was always 1 character short, creating a new key fixed it for him. (Another possibility is that it isn't copying the whole key -> key is to short and gets rejected). Almdudler (talk) 07:09, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Format seems correct. I will try again later. Thank you for your help. --Johnvenditti37 (talk) 07:44, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

API Key Field missing?[edit]

Hi;

There is no place to enter the API key to track acquisition. I have used this before on this page, and it still exists on other pages, so it's not a browser issue for me. Or I'm missing a spot to (re)turn it on/activate it. It seems to be a recent issue, from the site upgrade.

Excuse me for posting here - is there a place to report issues generally?

Thanks.
