Dialogue[edit]

On Chul-Moo
Yao: Yao here. Obviously...who else would it— Get to the point, Yao. A little miffed at Chul-Moo today. Many days, actually.
Yao: Just wish he was more open about all this. It's hard to defend him when even I'm starting to...doubt some things...
Yao: No, I still trust him. But...he's holding back. I just...miss how candid we used to be with each other.
Yao: I don't expect him to act like nothing's changed since I left, but I know I could help if he'd let me. That's all.
On Finn
Yao: Proud mech parent Yao here! Finn had his first checkup! Didn't even flinch when I tested his feedback devices, did ya?
Finn: A mere tickle
Yao: Told myself I wouldn't get emotional... but you've come so far! I remember your first boot up. It was... right before I left...
Yao: I gave you my most coveted traits: smarts, openness, drive. Wanted to leave something behind for the Brotherhood...
Yao: But we saw how that went. Maybe that was silly of me... but you've sure helped us, buddy. So no regrets. None at all.
Finn: A great teacher can make a world of difference.
Yao: D'awww, Finn, ya big sap!
On Joon
Yao: Yao here. Saw Joon for the first time since my... abrupt exit. Probably should've been straight with her from the start...
Yao: She gave me a stern talking to. Stern even for Joon. But she's also pretty amped about our ley-line discovery.
Yao: Said she'll help our research however she can: resources, funds. Even got someone to fill in for me at Xunlai.
Yao: All that's left is to... solve the demon issue. No big deal, right? ...Right? ...Eh...
New Project
Yao: Wow, it's Yao! Hey, well that's not bad. anyway, I have... good news. Taimi and Joon asked me to help with their new project!
Yao: All I know is that it's based on Gorrik's research and should help our demon woes. Plus, I get to build stuff again!
Yao: I'm just happy to be back to making things. Something about soldering metal calms my mind. Exciting stuff!
On Rama
Yao: Yao on the prowl! No, that's terrible... Anyway, just talked to Rama. It went...fine. He's much less snippy, so...progress.
Yao: I know Rama's issue is mainly with Chul-Moo, but since Finn helped him out we've been more relaxed around each other.
Yao: He's even kinda funny. Almost...charming. But he can still be a total lug nut.
Yao: That's probably why he's good at his work. He questions everything. Keeps ya at arm's length 'til he has a reason not to.
Yao: It's impressive, but that must get exhausting. And lonely. But that's his business. As long as we're cool, it works for me.
Prying Eyes
Research Intern Kim: Unbelievable! Today I caught that stuck-up asura nosing through my research notes. Gather your own data, thief!
Research Intern Kim: Of course, he feigned benevolence. "I'm comparing jade absorption theories." "I'm concerned for people's safety."
Research Intern Kim: Flop-eared beaker washer! If it weren't for the chance to study jade and a scant consulting fee, I'd have left already!
Tainted Oracles
Research Intern Kim: These idiots are even less prepared than I expected! They see nothing here but promised riches, blind to history's omens...
Research Intern Kim: If decades of study prove true - and they shall - the half-wit who hired me has no idea what he's in for. None of them do.
Unscientific Methods
Research Intern Kim: Received some curious data from Assistant Kim. While ambitious, her dedication to scientific methods seems...limited.
Research Intern Kim: Given her willingness to overlook details in the interest of career goals, she seems a perfect fit for the Brotherhood.
Regrets
Research Intern Kim: (indecipherable speech)1
Visions from Beyond
Research Intern Kim: Imbeciles! At the first wisp of tainted air, these Brotherhood members turn feral, reduced to base animal instincts.
Research Intern Kim: I, however, sense the purpose of these "visions" is not solely to elicit emotional response. They are not visions at all.
Research Intern Kim: While some may prey on the weakness of a lesser mind, they're just as capable of recognizing an intellectual equal.
Research Intern Kim: Calm yourself! I swore I'd keep the details of your existence hidden.
1 Research Intern Kim: (when played in reverse) I did not expect...could not have been prepared... I'm every bit the fool they are, and now I must pay for it.

Notes[edit]

  • Playing the Regrets log in reverse gives the following message: "I did not expect...could not have been prepared. I'm every bit the fool they are, and now I must pay for it."
