Dreslav
Dreslav
Dreslav is one of the former major spirits of the Echovald Forest alongside the twin spirit Urgoz. Dreslav oversaw growth in the forest, while Urgoz saw to the decay in an effort to keep the cycle of the forest in balance. Weakened after trying to oppose Urgoz's rampage against humans in the aftermath of the Jade Wind, Dreslav has settled into a location called Dreslav's Garden which acts as a sanctuary for the forest's creatures and visitors alike.
Biography[edit]
Early years[edit]
Urgoz and his twin Dreslav once watched over the Echovald Forest to keep the cycle of the forest in balance: Dreslav oversaw growth in the forest, while Urgoz saw to the decay.
Shiro Tagachi's first death unleashed the Jade Wind from the Harvest Temple in 1382 CC (872 AE), petrifying much of the Echovald Forest. Urgoz was driven into despair and rage over the sudden loss of life and blamed humanity for the catastrophe. Dreslav tried to stop him from exacting revenge, but Urgoz banished his twin into the body of a warden and cut away Dreslav's memory to keep the twin from interfering.
Centuries passed until a group of heroes managed to locate Urgoz in his well-defended warren and defeated him to weaken the wardens in 1582 CC (1072 AE). Dreslav was freed some time later but the spirit's once-prison persisted. Dreslav, whose memories were restored little by little over the following centuries, did not know what had happened to that body.
Dreslav believed that Urgoz had not truly perished and would one day reappear. The spirit hoped that the twins could come to terms after reuniting and once again balance one another in the forest which began a slow recovery from the effects of the Jade Wind after the returned Shiro Tagachi's second death at the hands of the same heroes who had opposed Urgoz.
End of Dragons[edit]
In 1845 CC (1335 AE), Dreslav met with the Pact Commander and other adventurers who were visiting a small but serene garden which the spirit had dedicated as a sanctuary to all the creatures of the forest and visitors alike. Dreslav engaged in short conversations with them, explaining the history and troubled relationship between the spirit twins while speculating about Urgoz's ultimate fate.

Dialogue[edit]
- Hello, child. Welcome to this place. Be at peace. I am called Dreslav, its keeper, and I was once spirit of this forest. Hopefully again, one day.
- What is this place?
- Merely a garden, and yet also more, if you will be. Right now it is enough for it to shelter for all of the forest's creatures, and its visitors as well.
- Is it okay to harvest from here?
- It is not for me to say. If the plants offer their fruits, the trees their branches, the rocks their shards, who would I be to deny them? Take, share, and grow.
- I had another question.
- Very well.
- You were a spirit of the forest? (Same as below.)
- What is this place? (Same as above.)
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
- You were a spirit of the forest?
- Yes. I oversaw the growth of things, while my twin Urgoz saw to their decay. Necessary for the cycle of the forest. The Jade Wind threw off that balance, but thankfully not forever.
- Why aren't you the spirit anymore?
- Urgoz blamed humanity for the harm done to the forest. I tried to stop him, but he banished me into the body of a warden and cut away my memory.
- How did you get free?
- I confess I do not know. I was finally freed, but my once-prison persisted. What happened to that body, I also can't say. But every day I return a little more to myself.
- What happened to Urgoz? (Same as below.)
- I have another question.
- I must be going.
- What happened to Urgoz? (Same as below.)
- I must be going.
- What happened to Urgoz?
- I do not think he is gone. He is as much the spirit of this place as I. I hope when he reappears we may once again balance one another. But time will tell.
- How did you get free? (Same as above.)
- I have another question.
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
