Foreword
This journal is preserved as a part of Isgarren's collection of "written relics." These documents display the thoughts of a poignant member of Tyrian history, whether they interacted with the court or not. Turai Ossa, who was the twelfth wayfinder before that title was revoked after his "failed" ascension, wrote in this journal during his brief stay in Amnytas.
This strange, ostentatious place. The "Wizard's Tower," Isgarren tells me. I have not been here long, nor do I expect my journey will allow me to stay longer than a dusk or two...
Isgarren showed himself to me, pretending to be a djinn named "Akeem". Thinking he was some god eager to feast on my desperation in this constant fracas against Palawa, I conceded and offered my life in trade for Elona's freedom. He laughed, claiming to not be some slaughterous deity, then asked if I would share my woe. I told him of my plan to attack the autocrat, to which he expressed doubt. Not doubt for my ability, but doubt for being able to kill the monster.
He bid me return to his home...this place. Isgarren opened a portal before my very eyes—without spoken incantation or rhyme. Maybe flawed in judgement, I did not hesitate, and when we stepped through that portal, we were among these very halls. Dimly lit, with only the sounds of shoes against marble.
My bearings were only confused when Isgarren, not Akeem, revealed himself as...another being. A "seer" he tells me, although Akeem was living and real long ago. He led me to a room with a young woman fixed at a table in the center. Books and scrolls created a small fortress around her—human, but not Elonian. She recognized me immediately and introduced herself as Asphodel IV.
Asphodel asked if Palawa was dead—she was expectant, I think. Isgarren explained what I had told him, and he returned to her table. They informed me that killing him may not be easy, but trapping the lich's soul...easier. Asphodel—that aberrant, restless woman—is currently collecting as many volumes on entanglement magics as she can find; she will help me read through their archaic texts later.
Although I can't speak of this place, or return with Asphodel and her many books, Isgarren hopes that I may be...inspired.
