Death at entering volcano[edit]

I don't know if it's a bug or if it's meant this way. (couldn't find any suit or boon or something.) But every time I enter the vulcano I die. After dying and resurrecting myself I was able to walk in. --Dagoh 13:54, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

For anyone else who feels blocked by this, I updated the Maelstrom's Bile to add some information about it. It appears to be a feature, not a bug. Once revived, you can move forward without it occuring again. However, most players instinctively walk backward after being revived, thus enabling the effect to occur again. I managed to get in solo by making sure to kill the elementals first then just using downed skill 4 to revive myself once I hit the barrier. --Thervold 17:34, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Maguuma?[edit]

Why is this area listed as in the Maguuma region when it's clearly in the Southern Shiverpeaks? --192.168.104.79 05:46, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Well it is not frozen anymore. :P Someone should check to which explorer title the area belongs to know this for sure. Could be Maguuma is extended, since in Guild Wars 1 Sprakfly Swamp (now Sprakfly Fen, so far possible) was a Maguuma area. --Dagoh 06:18, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
It counts for the Maguuma Explorer achievement. In lore, it's not part of the Maguuma but rather the Steamspur mountains ("Northern" and "Southern" shiverpeaks no longer exist - it got divided into the Deldrimor Front and Steamspur Mountains); but mechanically, which is how that infobox is listing for sake of easily able to determine which explorer achievement it counts to, it's Maguuma (for some odd reason). Same with Sparkfly Fen (which was only part of the Tarnished Coast in GW1 mechanically as well, technically it's the foothills of the Shiverpeaks/Steamspur). Irwin Isle or Treacherous Depths[edit]

The area on the map is named Treacherous Depths, while if you hover the mini map it says Irwin Isle, also when you uncover it it goes 'Irwin Isle discovered' ingame. What should we use? ~~Preau 12:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Just put it between brackets for now, happened at Infinity Coil too. If someone has a better solution feel free to change it. ~~Preau 19:02, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Map completion mail?[edit]

I completed Mount Maelstrom and got the reward chest, but never received a message from the Tyrian Explorers Society. This zone is pretty big and I don't have any real reason to finish it again on one of my level 80s, so I won't be able to confirm for some time... but I was wondering if this is just a strange and isolated bug, or other people have also experienced this. Interesting... I had a similar issue with completing Crucible of Eternity and Honor of the Waves - never got a mail to talk about the explorable mode like the other dungeons (neither did a guildie get those mails). Possibly an oversight on Anet's part. Konig/talk 17:09, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
ok so exicited I actually can share info - the event for keeper of winds opens a portal to "dierdre's steps" just east of zone white POI. I'm told its a jumping puzzle.A Liability 09:06, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Yeah Jan 23 and no mail from Tyrian Explorer's Society. Not a big deal. I got the chest for map completion, which contained and exotic weapon and armor near my level, as well as a Black Lion Key and 40 Thick Leather Sections. + 38s and 16,700 experience. 69.196.188.249 13:27, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Just completed the map, no mail either (freaking transmutation stones again.. ugh). User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 15:02, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Cubular Fells[edit]

Is it a reference to w:Tubular Bells? --Smiley™ 20:47, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Dierdre's Steps On The Map[edit]

The map for this zone doesn't seem to have Dierdre's Steps showing up on the map (it's explored, but it's just showing a gray area). Maybe the in-game map was updated recently? I added an image of what it looks like to the Dierdre's Steps page (which redirects to Hidden Garden). Meridin talk 12:03, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes, the jumping puzzle was added with the Halloween update, and I haven't taken the time to remake the map. I need to do the same for Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Tribulation Caverns and Forsaken Halls were also added in that update). —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:33, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/11/18[edit]

Replace with feedback text. --67.177.33.67 23:08, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

This is not in the meguma jungle yo....

This zone and Sparkfly Fen are within the Maguuma Jungle mechanical region, which is what the infobox indicates (for the purposes of dailies and the like, which call for a specific region). Within lore, they are in the Steamspur Mountains, which is stated both in the zone's description and on the region's page. - Cricket 23:48, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

The Map is Kinda Messed Up[edit]

I'm not entirely sure about this - my laptop has abysmal loading times, and the maps usually load a bit late - but the area shown by the map is shifted. It's like, a rectangle of a certain size is needed with the map in the game, overlaid by the symbols of waypoints and etc. That makes sense, but the rectangle with the map itself is shifted up and a bit to the right. The symbol overlay (I assume that's close enough to what it's doing) is still synced up with their actual locations. Scrolling out shows the map of the zone, but when I scroll in it all vanishes.

Also - and this is a separate 'problem,' but on most maps, I can see all of explored Tyria if I scroll out far enough (but only the symbols for the zone), and this was really useful for me because I write stories spanning multiple zones at once, and I don't necessarily need the symbols for that. Sometime recently, though, the map got several upgrades (the symbols now look and behave just like in the game when hovering over them and all have pop-up links when clicked), but this came with the problem that now I can't scroll out and see everything, and if I can, I can't scroll in to see something outside of the zone the page is for. This may have been done on purpose, to limit file size or something, but if not can somebody look into it?

Thanks in advance, I have no idea how the maps work. ~~TiffanySmith.8216 15:39, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Two issues here
The first issue is not actually a wiki-only issue - per Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Reporting wiki bugs#API map tiles not displaying it affects any resource using the official map tiles API.
The second issue you're describing is due to the change in map widgets and how its been designed to intentionally only load tiles adjacent to the specific map. I don't like it either.
