Teleporting to another map[edit]

Does that include zoning? C The 22:49, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

yes--TahiriVeila 23:14, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
how are you supposed to earn 100k xp in a single zone? Most have nowhere near that much. and its all got to be done without logging out?192.168.104.83 19:01, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
At lower levels it can be fairly difficult (and yes, all the xp must be done in a single session and in a single zone). Once the player reaches level ~65 it becomes easier. This is because the experience from event rewards scale upwards. By level 65-70, gold rewards for dynamic events yields 20-25k exp per event. In addition, a single explorable-mode dungeon will yield 125k exp upon completion, which will satisfy the monthly requirement (since the xp is rewarded on completion you can die as many times as is necessary throughout the dungeon).--TahiriVeila 20:12, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Daily and monthly achievements gives you 3% exp from each tier and completion, clearing the area gives you 10%. Use 10% kill exp bonus from food, complete all dynamic events you encounter, and start off with a fresh zone, preferably 30+ one. If there are crafting stations on the same map too, you can use them for a great boost of experience from crafting, if you start from zero. And yea, the higher level you are, the more exp you get from daily, monthly, clearing the area, crafting - and of course you can go to higher area too, and/or you are less likely to die due to better stats, equip and skills.
—Faalagorn22:31, 11 September 2012 (UTC).
At level 70+ I have been able to get over 1k exp per kill(from base+ bonus exp) and another 10k+ from dynamic events. So it really isn't that hard. Both times that I have gotten it, I have done so on accident.C The 03:51, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

What happened to you people? Your complaining about how hard it is to get something. If you ask them real nice, maybe they can just give you every item in the game and infinite gold, then you wont even have to play!!! AWESOME! Are you gonna appreciate the reward if its easy to aquire? If so, you're not a gamer (thats not up for debate while we use our current dictionaries), you are a hobbyist. Thats perfectly fine too, but you don't really have an admirable argument when your complaining that there are enough tennis balls in your game of gin rummy. Personally, I ACCIDENTALLY got the survivor achievement in each of the first two months. ACCIDENTALLY! And saying, there isn't that much XP in a single map is nothing less than pure ignorance (again, pull out your dictionaries). Ignorance is nothing to be ashamed of, but getting upset, and complaining cause you cant INSTANTLY see a solution to the problem is (simply put) childish, and it puts a stain on an otherwise adult community/wiki. You thought, "wait a minute, thats too hard! Oh I'll just go to the wiki and read waht the answer is.... WAIT!!! ITS STILL HARD!!! THIS SUCKS!!! I'm gonna bitch and moan." You are practicing the hobby of Internet grief-ing, not gaming. In my personal opinion, this might not be the game for you; I'm sure Arenanet is happy to accept your money, but I can assure you that no matter how much you read forums and guides, you can satisfy no more than 5% of the skill curve presented by the game. And I can also assure you that no matter how fast or how thorough you collect items in the game that your friends aren't going to think any different of you. If so, they aren't friends, they are enablers. The preceding unsigned comment was added by SiderFace (talk) at 10:58, 15 October 2012 (UTC).

You seem awfully upset and righteous considering only one person above was even vaguely "complaining" about survivor being hard. But thank you for your lovely and inspiring soapboxing. Downed state effect on survivor achievement[edit]

I've been watching the effect of downed state on the survivor title, and it seems to stop the progression of the title right now. I am going to edit the webpage to reflect that. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.158.151.156 (talk) at 18:06, 10 September 2012‎ (UTC).

you are incorrect. Downed state does not halt survivor progress. Currently changing zones, logging out, or disconnecting DOES halt progress. This is probably what you're experiencing so I'm going top revert your edit for now.--TahiriVeila 14:34, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Does dying from falling don't hold the survivor progress?[edit]

Is it possible that the survivor progress wont be hold all the time, when you are dying from falling? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.110.78.66 (talk) at 06:02, 12 September 2012 (UTC).

Every death ends survivor progress. C The 11:45, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
We may double check though. Dying from fall doesn't damage your equipment, so the game treats these kind of deaths differently
Faalagorn/ 01:44, 13 September 2012 (UTC).
Fall deaths do not damage equipment but they DO stop progress towards survivor.--TahiriVeila 15:22, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for confirmation :). Was hard for me to check this month, because I already have over 50k+ exp done ^^.

Notes:[edit]

"Experience Survivor tier description Experience without Death have a word "without" written with lowercase, which doesn't fit to the Title Case naming convention of achievements tier descriptions." Just wanted to ask - are we using some weird definition of Title Case here? I was taught not to capitalize prepositions... Is this the only achievement title that doesn't do that? - Thulsey Zheng - talk 10:11, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I agree with you that the note is not correct. I will remove it. Unlike in PvP Conqueror and Explorer, this looks fine to me. C The 08:27, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Oh, so this is correct? It seems that you are right indeed, according to Wikipedia and Wiktionary :). Sorry, my bad, I still have troubles with that sometimes ^^. Thanks for noticing and pointing that out!

Bug?[edit]

A guildie I was talking to said the fact survivor resets with dc'ing and zoning in addition to dying is a bug. Is there anything to support this? PalkiaX50 18:55, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

I think so too, but since there is no clear proof. I'd say that marking it as a bug is a good idea, and move it to Notes section, unless someone have some objections.

I received 40 copper for making my first monthly. --Marc (Sorry.. no login)
@L80: 20 Mystic Coins, 73 bronze coin, and 7,620 XP. Nothing else. At 1.5s/mystic-coin, that's roughly the equivalent of an extra daily/day -- a nice bonus, but not worth the trouble if you dislike WvW.192.168.104.83 23:50, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Agree with not worth the trouble. 51 bronze and 20 Mystic coins. I would rather see a choice of 20 Mystic Coins or 1 Gold. Separ 20:12, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
@78 20 mystic coins, 69 copper, 6840 xp. absolutely terrible reward IMO, hopefully the reward has been upped for october. (info taken on the 17th september - only updating now) Jarlaxle Of Eidan 10:41, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
With how hard they made getting your desired max stat gear, I agree this reward could be larger. But then I'd say that for lots. When you finished the story in GW1, you could easily attain max stat gear. While GW2 may be easier than most MMO's (but then I don't play most MMO's because of this and other problems with them), it is not easy. I've played at least double the time it takes to beat the game, and still can't afford desired gear. I love vanity gear being hard to attain, but the hill for max stat ugly/boring gear is far to steep. I don't feel there should be any grind in any game beyond completing the regular story mode of the game in any game. Real failing. Better rewards would be a small step towards remedying this. --Mooseyfate 10:57, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Just finished the october achievement for 20 mystic coins, 10 karma tonics and a measly 55 copper :( still not worth it. I wouldn't mind so much if things like the cultural weapon sets were karma only, to justify the values, but with everything seemingly worthwhile karma-related also requiring copious amounts of gold, these rewards still seem out of whack relative to the cost/effort (especially for someone on HoD, where 50 WvW kills is a BIG ask thanks to the broken server rankings) 10.28.100.32 18:16, 25 October 2012 (PDT)

It being a holliday thing, while fine for a holliday achievement, would be bad for a monthly achievement. As great as the pseudo world is, some of us enjoy the real world and travel during the holidays.
His comment in the screen shot about it not being a bug shows that there's a disparity between what GW puts in the game, and what can be perceived as a bug. Being that the achievement is MONTHLY, and the entry is gibberish, this certainly looks like a bug. I think there are other things that look like a bug, that aren't bugs. But the text being ???, combined with the fact that this is a monthly, (suggesting an achievement that may take a full month to accomplish), ??? or TBD doesn't really cut it. If it were available, and a mystery, then it should say something like "Hidden Achievement: complete to reveal". It seems like common sense for them to make non-bugs not seem like bugs. Just a little mindful consideration is all it takes. I've seen poor examples of non-bugs that seem like bugs other than this too. Wish they'd improve that in quality control globally.  ??? Monthly Dungeon participation[edit]

This achievement seems to be bugged. It does not count participation, but first-time participation. I completed two dungeons I had previously completed before this month, and they did not count. I'll try to level up a character enough to make one again, and see if that counts. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:02, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

I got it repeatedly doing the same dungeon I was doing before the monthly changed--Relyk 21:29, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Maybe it is buggy, when redoing story mode. I did a explorer mode run in AC, CM and TA. Each time it did count it. I was also able to play SE story with two chars - each time it did count. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arghmage (talk) at 03:44, 6 November 2012 (UTC).

Holiday Monthlies[edit]

Who in the world thought it was a good idea to put Holiday achievements under the Monthly achievement section?! Let me spell this out.

  • Monthly = an achievement that is designed to take a decent effort to accomplish. Maybe it can be accomplished in a day, but for a casual player who gets in maybe 1-2 hours a day, and not every day, it is designed to be do-able, but will take a decent chunk of the month.
  • Holiday achievements section was created for Halloween. Why not put all holiday related achievements there?
  • Since this ran for the minority of the month, daily would make more sense than monthly. Make it an every day daily, for less effort and less reward, but which adds up to about the same.
  • Some people can play more on holidays because of time off. Others play less because of travel/family. Monthly should be available so long as you get the time in during the month, not because you are available on the holiday or vice versa.
  • If, after all that, holiday events must be under the monthly umbrella, then make them available for the full month (it's OK if you need a couple days at the beginning of the month because it was almost ready for deploy, but not quite).

Anyways, just saying all that because to me personally it is a point of frustration to some degree. It's more frustrating when it happens twice in a row. And will be more frustrating when it happens for a third month in a row because of the next holiday. If one isn't available for the holiday, it makes the goal of shooting for the other monthly goals next to worthless. And that's a shame to me. --Mooseyfate 19:43, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

The holiday-themed monthly achievements didn't require the entire month to complete. If you don't have enough time to play the game because real life gets in the way, you're not missing much.--Relyk 20:04, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
So you're telling me you didn't have enough time or money to gather 150 pieces of candy corn, which was selling for coppers each and easily farmable with alts in addition to dropping from like everything? That was the easiest monthly to date. I fully expect the November and later ones to be just as simple. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 20:26, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
I actually agree with Moosey, cause lets say you are have to fly to another state right before the holiday stuff comes up, and there is no PC at the other place to use to play GW2, unless you get back in time there is no way to get monthly. It's kinda unfair to some. In my opinion monthlys should never be holiday stuff. All holiday stuff should be in special event category by it's self. And before you tell me to stop complaining, look at what I said carefully, I didn't complain once I just pointed out a reason for unfairness in the holiday monthlies. <---Neji was here---<<< 15:31, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
I'll be important if there was missables you couldn't get any other way. But the rewards are just things you can get in other ways. Karma and coins? All over the place. Mystic coins? Dailies and he trading post. Achievemrnt points? They can be increased unlimitedly thanks to Agent of Entropy. Missing a monthly will slow you down if you were planning to get something that will need the rewards, but it won't prevent you from getting anything. Fractal Frequenter November[edit]

This requires completion of seven fractals. Does it have to be unique fractals, or if you happen to do, say, Swampland twice, would you get two points? Xapheus 00:26, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Repeats count. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 01:48, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Repeats do not count. I tested this is many different ways. I am accurately being rewarded when i complete a unique Fractal, but not if I repeat. If you advance a level, it is not considered a repeat. If you play the same fractal of the same level twice and complete it both times, you will be rewarded with one fractal completed. The preceding unsigned comment was added by SiderFace (talk) at 17:37, 8 December 2012 (UTC).
That's odd then. I'm at 5/7 Fractals and have only done 4 different ones out of the 8, I've done the Uncategorized Fractal twice. Haven't done Snowblind, Cliffside, Swampland and Underground Facility fractal yet. Looks like repeats do count (at least in December). Fractal completion vs Dungeon participation[edit]

Does completing fractal runs (full level) count to dungeon participation? Saelfaer 00:30, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

A set of three doesn't. I'm almost positive sets of sets of three don't. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 00:53, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Fractals counts for fractal completion, 1 fractal (not one set) = +1. Dungeon counts for dungeon completion, 1 path (or story) = +1. 75.36.180.174 00:56, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Jumping Puzzles[edit]

I wonder if this counts unique visits (account wide) or individual visits. Also, the text would suggest only newly found jumping puzzles count. But that's not true, tested the three in LA. --Kristofferus 03:20, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

This does in fact count unique visits account wide only. As a new player I picked an easy puzzle in Lions Arch, got the counter up first time, did it again next day with the same char and got no counter, did it again the next day with another char and got no counter up again. Thus you need to do 12 different puzzles, no matter with which char. Thanks to dulfy.net for her guide with zones and difficulty. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.71.90.194 (talkcontribs) at 08:21, 11 April 2013 (UTC).

What triggers the achievement[edit]

"You don't need to find 30 separate jumping puzzles for Intrepid Explorer. Rather you may revisit the same puzzles such as the Lions Arch three but in different overflows. You don't have to complete any puzzle, you just have to find them. The same jumping puzzle may be visited by separate characters on your account and count towards the monthly progression." I tested both theories, and both came up false. Did the 3 LA puzzles in overflow, then on another char did the same 3 in main server. Did not count. Also, just getting to the chest does NOT progress further. You have to open the chests. --Kristofferus 23:22, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

It does and doesn't work, depending on your home server population and other factors. You get credit for "starting" a jumping puzzle, but not starting one you have already started and not finished on the SAME server shard. Thus if you call your home in a populated server you can easily park your character right by an entrance to a JP (I used Urmaug's secret in LA) and I back flipped to start the JP in a unique OF shard. After which I front flip it before the start of the JP and log out and in. Due to alot of overflow shards existing with Fractals and wintersday, it is feasable to get the 30 required with 1-3 characters off of 1 JP. It would have been interesting to see JP completions 1-3-5-10 instead. A Liability 03:18, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Hrmm it does seem it only works on a particular server shard once per account :/. but either way i was able to rack up around 25 finds before starting to get diminishing chances of finding a new JP. A Liability 03:24, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I triggered the discovery 3 times on Urmaug's Secret. Pretty sure I hit the same overflow, because I couldn't trigger it anymore after a couple more tries.--Relyk ~ talk > 04:34, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Not every puzzle works the same. For Weyandt (aka Sharkmaw), it's triggered just past the vista, near the mouth. For Troll's End, you get credit when you land inside the well. For Urmaug, you have to get to the chest. In the case of the first two, if you do something unusual, you might not get credit. It worked on all my alts, but I didn't check the reset rate for the same zone: it might be once daily, once for lifetime of character, or a few hours as someone suggested on Reddit.
To keep things clear: all my toons got credit for the same puzzle, some toons got credit for the same puzzle in different shards, some toons didn't get credit the first time (maybe because I missed the trigger point), and some puzzles gave credit a long time before I reached the chest. 75.37.20.28 04:49, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I Think at least the WvW triggers reset daily as I got credit for them yesterday, and then again today on the same character Joironfist 03:31, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

Monthly Completionist[edit]

According to the tracker at the top right of the screen, it gave me 20% for completing the first daily for the month. Based on that, I am concluding that its 5 dailies for the monthly. I completed 6 events out of 100 and it gave me 6% so I am positive. EDIT : Oops, didn't notice that its already added to the bottom of the discussion page. It'll be nice if someone could remove this section for me, thanks. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.255.2.145 (talk) at 05:52, 1 February 2013 (UTC).

Monthly Completionist (2)[edit]

There was an edit by an anonymous user, reverting a change entered by Poke. I believe he's objecting to putting down the different tiers of the monthly completionist category, since there's been no observation.

The Monthly tracker on my screen shows that after a single complete Daily, the Monthly Completionist is at 20%. At the same time, there are 1/5 tiers completed on my hero pane. The math alone suggests that every Daily done advance it by one tier. Therefore, I'll be putting Poke's edit back in. Ajaxas 02:21, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Can confirm this. Doing 5 Events showed me 5% after i finished the daily and the Monthly UI popped up. Completionist was at 20% and Salvage @1% with 6 of 500 items salvaged. i.e. you have to complete a total of 5 Dailies, one per tier Magistrella 03:57, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

The point is that there isn't any reason to post speculation on a main space article. Putting it here, on the talk page, as you have done, seems reasonable. But we'll know for a fact if it's 5 days or 10 or more by Monday, so why rush to post it at all? 75.37.18.243 18:18, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
The point is, it's obvious. If the track has 5 tiers, tier 1 requires 1 Daily completion, and the overall track shows 1/5 complete, then each of the 5 tiers can only require 1 daily completion if they are to add up to 5/5. It's not speculation when the logic is that clear. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:51, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
It's not speculation. After finishing a daily achievement, the monthly achievement progress appears in the top right corner of the screen instead. Hovering over each shows the maximum; 5 dungeons, 100 events, 500 items salvaged, and 5 dailies. Mora 18:56, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
It's not speculation. It's basic arithmetics. If 1 point is 20%, 100% is 5 points. If there's 5 tiers, that only allows 1 point per tier. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 20:19, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

*Improved* updated lists[edit]

Has any work been done on updating the monthly requirements list to include the new ones since they made it sort of pick your own? I checked the crafter one, and didn't see it there. I will look again. 69.183.26.254 02:16, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Does anyone know if the silver you recieve is scaled to the level of the character that finishes the monthly? (Just like with dailies) If so, I didn't notice it on the main page, and i'm going to go finish it off with my level 80 just in case that is what occurs. It'd be a lot of silver to lose out on, going by the formula they use for dailies. 5s for 80's but just over 1s for lowbies. Puk 07:07, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

Puzzle Jumper[edit]

For this achievement, it only counts unique completions per account, and does not reset with the Daily. I tested it today by doing Troll's End 3 times with 2 different characters -- twice before the reset(once with each character), once after. Despite the chest being lootable all 3 times, the counter for the achievement only increased once. --Verity 00:20, 4 April 2013 (UTC)--

I found the same. I'm going to remove the first part of that bullet point. Daddicus 03:48, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Previous achievements and notes[edit]

Perhaps the Previous Achievements should be made collapsable (hidden by default). And the notes under that table, do they apply only to the previous achievements? --Alad 11:07, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

chance to additional item[edit]

Is there really a chance for an addition item in monthlys? or did someone mix up with dailys?--Qeltaru (talk) 15:29, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Brought 'em back...[edit]

With Secrets of the Obscure, they've revamped the dailies and restored the monthlies. They're both handled differently enough that it's probably a good idea to do it as a separate page, and just point peeps to there if they wind up here...? My US$.02, anyway.
