Im a huge moa fan, and although I think I prefer the gw1 moa, this one looks badass too :D Nohjo 19:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

That's a moa? That's a frakking land parrot! MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 19:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Do we have confirmation that that picture is of a Moa? --Odal talk 19:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Is the only bird pet both named and shown, looks like moa from gw1... it's a pretty safe bet imo. ,,"Klumpeet",, 19:21, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps say that "This is presumed to be a screenshot of the Moa pet.", 'cause we can't be sure. It could be called massivelandparrot, we don't know. --Odal talk 19:22, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
That could make sense, but it doesn't look like a parrot at all. Also, parrots fly, this is clearly a flightless bird (like the moa). -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:12, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
The point I'm trying to make is that we don't know this is a Moa, we only speculate. --Odal talk 21:14, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:15, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Maybe there are different types of moa birds now. And this is the giantlandparrot type. I still hope something more like the gw1 moa will be in gw2. And it seems unlikely that a moa evolved to this only after 200 years. --Nohjo 21:22, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Except for the fact that it looks exactly like a moa bird except for feather colors. Tell me, are these guys "giant land parrots" and not tengu? Same thing, I bet this is just a tropical moa, instead of a moa from Ascalon. -- Konig/talk 21:53, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
I believe it was implied that there would be multiple types of all pets. Distinctions such as Polar Bear from Grizzly Bear. Strider Moa to Tropical Moa, in this case (disclaimer: I just made the moa names up). -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:57, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
There are some parrots that do not fly much, and there is one species of parrot in New Zealand that could fly, but it just doesn't. But if you look at this 'moa', the body is more like a hulking dodo with long legs, with some parrot features. The moa in GW1 had a more bird-of-prey-like head. Avatar[edit]

Did it look to anyone else like it had the hole on it's neck for breathing like the animals in Avatar? 72.174.198.212 21:21, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

I think its just the way he looks. Seems unlikely that Pandora creatures now roam tyria. Nohjo 21:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Erm, that looks like plumage to me. It breathes through it's beak? --Odal talk 21:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Na, I'm talking about the strange fleshy area with the the holes at the base of it's neck. 72.174.198.212 05:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I think thats just black dots to make it look fancy cuz its a bird. - 74.171.163.219 06:05, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
That's what I mean, it just looks like plumage to me. --Odal talk 10:35, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Can I just intergect that there are already quite a few things that GW and Avatar have in common? Just look at the asuran areas, and then think about those mountain things from the movie. It's not antigravity, t's profloaty! Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 16:08, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't think they'll have drawn too much inspiration from Avatar, but I've never seen it so I can't really comment. But that really just looks like neck "decoration" to me. --Odal talk 16:11, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Nostrils are at the top of the beak. That's just plumage coloring. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:00, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
didn't they say you could give your pet armor, maybe it's just some Studded Leather Protection :P The Holy Dragons 15:45, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
hehe NVM they've never said something like that (i checked :P )(it's just a bald spot :P) The Holy Dragons 15:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, you got confused when they confirmed there would not be armor, and thought it meant that you could put armor on them Shadowed Ritualist 16:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Article picture?[edit]

Could we possibly change it to this? --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 22:46, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

*jaw drops* - oh hell yea! :) -- Aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 22:51, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Amann, Why do you keep asking? Just go ahead and do it xD. If it's within the rules and it's better (IYO) then what is already there, do it! Nobody is going to yell at you; it's a community wiki afterall :3 --Naut User Naut Dark Blue Monk.png 22:53, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Lol I'm sure I'd make a mistake if I were to try, so I just save everyone the trouble of fixing my mistakes and let them handle it. :) You all are doing splendidly as is, sooo --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 23:42, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Origins Trivia.[edit]

I added some trivia on the origin of the moa. I't a slichtly reworded copy from the trivia on it's guild wars wiki page. Hope that's all right.--Regent 13:54, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

lol[edit]

Black Moa, Crimson Moa, Golden Moa, Green Moa and a White Moa.. now we just need blue, purple/pink and rainbow moa's :D --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 14:49, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Plural of[edit]

Before I go and make changes to all the pages or the NPC template, I thought I'd ask. It seems that both Moa and Moas are acceptable for the pluralization (like lynx and lynxes). I was wondering which one we are leaning to here. I myself am more inclined to like Moas. I though we had this discussion before, but I cannot seem to find it. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 03:53, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

I would lean towards "moa" as the species and "moas" as a plural of individuals. - Infinite - talk 09:36, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Crimson, golden, and green[edit]

Are these three breeds actually charmable pets? They were not available in PvP during either BWE so far, and if they are available, that would be 8 different moas, which isn't in line with other pet families (most have 4 or 5, a few only have 3). —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:14, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Moa Based on[edit]

Does anyone else think that the moa might actually be based on (a shocker) moa? The Eastern Moa is about the same size as those found within the game and is an actual species of Moa. It also has the same body shape as the bird in-game. As is obvious to those in the betas, the Moas in Guild Wars 2 are smaller than their Guild Wars counterparts. This can easily be explained by the fact that there are a range of different Moa species, the Eastern Moa being a mid range sized one. --Saranis 16:44, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

That's ridiculous. It's clearly an imported chocobo.--Gerroh 15:31, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Harmonic Cry[edit]

Does anyone know when Moa's cast this ability? Only when they are below a certain amount of health? Or, is their pet AI able to monitor nearby health levels of allies and use it accordingly? --RJStrange 08:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/01/29[edit]

Most of the links to the old ArenaNet blogs no longer work, such as the one on this page. Perhaps, they should either be removed or a note that states one must use something like the Wayback Machine to access them. Just a thought.

Oh, and I could not find the appropriate page to ask...but, did the Wiki's font just change? It's now different, for me. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 17:33, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Yeah blog links... either remove them or wayback them. It's up to you.
The wiki body text uses arial or sans-serif - it hasn't changed recently. Browser update? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:47, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
Anet may have archived them, like they did with the gw1 pages (e.g. http://gw1101.gtm.guildwars.com/competitive/ but it looks like that's been gutted recently, too). I couldn't find any saved on internet archives, so if they're confirmed gone, then gone they are. https://web.archive.org/web/20121109083806/http://www.arena.net/blog/eric-flannum-fields-your-ranger-questions here's one from the internet archives. We may be able to see if Anet still has them somewhere, else this is all we have. I'll update the link with the archive one in the meantime. G R E E N E R 21:13, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/04/02[edit]

I don't want to mess up someone's new edit, but Moas don't only sit down at night to rest/sleep. You can find them doing this at any time of day/night. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 18:40, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Not exactly a new edit. Been there quite a while. Konig (talk) 19:07, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
Anyways, removed the note since it's not a unique thing. Konig (talk) 19:12, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
Cool. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 19:16, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
