Mesmer pets[edit]
- → moved from Talk:Mesmer
- I can't easily see mesmers with pets. Though not in the same sense. However, I also see necromancers' minions as pets in a similar sense. Moreso than turrets. The minions, while summoned and not charmed, do follow you around and act like pets. With mesmers, I'd see it more as illusions than charming animals as well though (and how else would they make the mesmer more visual?). -- Konig/talk 22:52, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- Mesmer elite skill that for ~10 seconds makes an enemy hostile to everyone / switch team? A F K When Needed 22:54, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Also, I agree that Mesmer makes the only sense for a returning profession (this was said prior to Guardian that there'd be at least 1 returning, at least 1 reworked, and at least 1 new - we got Guardian, Thief, and Engineer - now we must get a returning). Warrior, Elementalist, Necromancer, and Ranger returned - that's 4 of the old gone. Monk, Paragon, Assassin, and Ritualist have been reshaped - 4 more, leaving just Dervish and Mesmer. Dervish doesn't make sense, due to the ties to the Six. Thus leaving Mesmer, or a profession which acts almost exactly like another mechanically. But still, I can't see Mesmers with pets. No more than necromancers, that is. -- Konig/talk 22:55, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I though that necro's minions and guardian's spirit weapons were considered pets. Hummmm now that I think about it, maybe the mesmer could have some sort of pet... have any of you read X-Men comics? Psylocke used (she still shows it but not as much as before) some sort of astral form with the shape of a butterfly that served as her astral projection to see and interact with things and use her psychic attacks. Maybe (but I really think that the "pet stuff" is covered with minions and spirit weapons, and to some degree turrets) we could see something like this astral projection as the main mechanic of the mesmer. Just a guess. Lokheit 00:19, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I like mesmers and I like pets, so I'm not complaining. Still, though, that seems a little far-fetched. I would think something more along the lines of what AFK suggested above, though 10 seconds definitely seems too long for such a skill. But hey, if they could manage a projection elite skill or ability that would be awesome. Or perhaps we could just have normal pets but use them differently from rangers? Like some kind of mind trick involving a pet? Not that I have any idea what that would be. Lysander 00:37, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Can we all speculate, or are we going to get a 'TAKE IT TO THE USERSPACE BECAUSE I LIKE TELLING PEOPLE WHAT TO DO' soon? J/w, because I have some opinions I'd love to get feedback on.--Ph03n1x 01:26, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ignoring the above comment, please take all speculation to the userspace. (And if you want to discuss the 101 reasons the mesmer is the only viable option, feel free to go to my mesmer discussion and speculation page.) PS: I don't do this because I enjoy telling people what to do; I do this because I'm the one who winds up sorting through it when I'm setting up archives. Aqua (T|C) 01:30, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

- I personally think that the second profession with pets was covered by the Necro. But... it did just occur to me that one of the Mesmers main attributes from GW1 was Domination. Now with that in mind, I think that it could well be within reason to suggest that Mesmers could have pets. Where the Ranger uses Beast Mastery to affiliate and bond with a pet, the Mesmer would just Dominate the mind of a creature, forcing it to assume a subserviant role or to consider the Mesmer as it's Alpha.

- Also, (in lore) Mesmers can be quite vain and are generally really suave and obsessed with their appearance. This could also support the idea of them having pets, more as an accessory than a companion. The right pet would help to embellish the particular look a Mesmer is going for. Like, a Mesmer wishing to look imposing or intimidating might have a Lion or a Bear where as a Mesmer wishing to look majestic might have a Rainbow Phoenix. Titan Crow 08:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
(Reset indent) Another topic to speculate about elsewhere. Please read the notice at the top of this talk page. - Infinite - talk 09:01, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, seeing as Mesmers have not yet been confirmed as a playable profession, it would be quite hard to discuss its revisions. Also, we are not speculating upon or otherwise discussing upcoming profession reveals, we are discussing the mesmer (mesmers in general and as a profession).
- And This page is about Mesmers in gereral and not specifically about how or wether they will appear in GW2 so discussing wether a mesmer would be likely (or not) to use a pet is a perfect topic for this talk page. And, at the same time, consedering that the Mesmer was a profession in GW1, it also a perfect to discuss here wether of not the mesmer will be the last GW2 profession. - You misunderstand; this talk page is for discussing the mesmer page, not mesmers, nor whether or how they will appear in Guild Wars 2. --ஸ Kyoshi 16:40, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- ROFLOL... Dont be absolutly absurd! Of corse people can discuss the topic of a page of its discussion page, it's the "Disscussion" page!!! Come on, think about it!!! lol Titan Crow
- No, this is a common misconception; a discussion page on a wiki is a talk page really solely intended for discussing edits to the article tied to it. A slip here and there is fine, but talk pages of Engineer, Mesmer and Profession Reveal have ran out of hand enough as is and thus we look sternly upon these pages in particular. Forums are for discussions on the mesmer, this wiki talk page is for discussing edits to the Mesmer article. - Infinite - talk 19:37, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- What Infinite said. But it only became that way when people got a stick up their arse after people flooded the profession speculation talk page. GWW completely allows speculation and even has long @#!*% discussions of speculation which are now dead just as GW2 speculation will be once we get more information. On almost every other game wiki I've ever been on, people openly discuss the topic of the article, not just revisions of the article. Y'know what grammarnazi's are? This is what wikinazi's look like.-- Konig/talk 23:54, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- To clarify, I did not make this topic to speculate, simply restating that another profession is required to have pets. Although any revisions would have to wait until after Anet confirms whether or not they consider turrets "pets." - 00:03, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- All this speculation is doing nothing but crowding the page at the moment, so that when actual important and relevant information comes out no one will be able to find it amidst the random speculation. Could someone, somewhere, who knows how, move all this? A discussion on cheese would be more pertinent, at least cheese is something that definitively exists. Alcyone 13:22, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- I am inclined to cut this off from Konig's first comment and moving it to his userspace, but I can already see the objection. Anyone volunteering to adopt it? - Infinite - talk 13:42, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- V_V I guess I will... you are welcome to paste this onto my talk page instead, so that the discussion can continue (and it'll give me something to look at when I check the wiki on weekends). Besides, I really think the Mesmer could have an interesting pet mechanic (especially that butterfly idea-- very cool sounding). --Amannelle 15:31, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

- I'm really sad, finally find a discussion about what the Mesmer might do, but it seems to have died shortly after moving. Oh well. I'm really excited about it either way. I can kind of see the arguments about the pets, in the end I wont complain if they have them. I saw in a recent FAQ Interview thing, (sorry can't seem to find it again, maybe someone will know what I'm talking about and link it?) the interviewer said something like "Well you've convinced me, the Engineer is my new favorite profession, but there is still one more to go maybe you can change my MIND", and the response was a laugh and "Yes, maybe we will change your MIND." So, maybe not full control of an enemy, but maybe a smaller scale? Also the Blackout condition has no skills that utilize it yet. ~Ao Allusir 03:30, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned images[edit]
Hey Amannelle, I'm going through images (cleaning, updating licensing and fixing naming issues) and noticed a few of your old images were orphaned. I've marked them for deletion in a few days; if you plan on using them, just take the deletion tag off of them and mark them with {{not orphaned}} for now.
