Castlevania trivia[edit]
Can someone explain, please? —Dr Ishmael 12:49, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't get it either. --Ventriloquist 14:10, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
- The closest I could consider is that in every Castlevania, breaking hidden walls has produced various useful items, most prominently chicken. So prominent that it has become an internet meme and even a bit of a joke within its own franchise. But it still feels like a bit of a stretch, all things considered. Do I have to pay for entrance?[edit]
I didn't log on during the first 2 weeks of Living Story season 2, do I have to pay the 200 gems to enter Dry Top?
- No, no. The Story Journal works like this - an episode is released every 2 weeks. If in that time you do log in, that episode will be unlocked and all of its story features (which DO NOT include the new map). If you don't log in, you have to pay 200 gems for that episode.
All you have to do, if you want to avoid spending gems, is take a minute of your time, log in, click the green star in the corner, accept and log off, if you want. The map and all of its features are free, it's the story that you have to pay it for. --Ventriloquist 09:11, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Meta-event events showing outside of their respective meta-events?[edit]
For example, I saw an event to challenge Nochtli (See: She was waiting to be challenged) while the sandstorm was whirling about. Did anet switch some things around or do certain events that require a trigger persist until someone triggers it? --Vaught (talk) 23:56, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Some events can appear regardless of the sandstorm. Nocthli's one of them. --Ventriloquist 23:58, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Figured as much. Should we make a note about this or a unique category for events that spawn regardless of the map condition? Or keep it as is? --Vaught (talk) 00:05, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- The events don't take place within the meta event UI so they technically aren't part of the meta event. Obviously, this definition isn't helpful or a good idea because they really are part of the meta event. Since the events can either be part of a chain or occur at any time, we can already identify the difference between the two with the prev and next parameters. We can also identify these events by creating event timers like we did with the world boss events. I don't think it alters how we identify events being part of a meta event.--Relyk ~ talk < 00:42, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Some History...[edit]
There is quite a bit of historical context that would make this page much more interesting, like the whole election sequence in Lion's Arch and the episodic cliffs locale. While a full explanation might run a bit long, there should be links to follow... At a minimum, the function of the various types of crystal should be referenced if not explained explicitly on this page. -- Crazy Old Man (grumbles) 19:40, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
Rare Creatures[edit]
Can we start a short list of spawn locations of rare creatures. If we have a few i can make a map an post it. Sonea Elder 19:19, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Burrowing chicken[edit]
I found some "burrowing chicken" hidden behind a wall high up the cliff east of town of prosperity (from a stone ledge high up, I heard some noise, and found them hidden behind the wall.)
Any idea what these chicken are (and why on earth are they inside the wall ?)
- Are they called "Burrowing Chicken" now? That's hilarious. Originally they were just chicken that were misplaced into the wall by the devs but I guess after the bug reports someone made this an in-joke. Tyndel (talk) 09:59, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Sand Giant[edit]
Why is this such a wasted piece of content? Back on launch Sand Giant was going down every sandstorm. About 3 weeks after that it seemed no one even attempts to take him down. He is listed as a world Boss and last I knew he dropped 5 chests including the world boss chest. Players complain about "Give us challenging content!!" then when it's their and they get owned or its to hard it becomes "not worth it" and the content becomes wasted or not played. Just today I tried rallying troops at the start of the storm and "it's not worth it" was the battle cry along with "Challenging Content, yeah, okay" as reasons why no one was going to attempt to defeat him. I love the battle and the rewards for defeating the Sand Giant. I have LFG'd Sand Giant with little response and only on very rare occasions did I gather enough to succeed. It's been just under a year and I miss taking him down.
Should / Will Sand Giant be added to the List of World Bosses (maybe on HoT release)? It might draw more attention and result in more play time with him. Should this be taken to the forums instead? Seth Moonshadow (talk) 00:41, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- If the sand giant were an exclusive event - i.e. nothing else is going on in the zone at the time - then it would be worth it. As it is, it's more efficient to play all the other events that run concurrently. (I think that's the reasoning, anyway - it's been a while since I've played in Dry Top. Most people are playing Silverwastes these days.) —Dr Ishmael 01:38, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Wrong number of Point of Interests[edit]
I counted that there are 22, not 21 POIs (in-game and on the page itself when u scroll down). However I'm not sure how to fix it, I can't find where the "21" is coming from. Xiiliea (talk) 12:20, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- Sigh. Every time I pop up and try to help, I find yet another thing that I don't understand. As I see it, PoIs etc are handled in Template:Area infobox, hence the code:
-
- If you got to the actual Template:Area infobox page, it gives nice, clear instructions on how to enter such data as PoIs and their ilk, yet there's none of that here. I blame that Alex chap, there's some technological mumbo-jumbo at work here and it's doing it surreptitiously. It's probably something semantic, with traces of quantum. — snograt 12:46, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Yep, semantic mediawiki queries. The top of the infobox has the line
which is counting the total number of results for the following:
, table format:- When I started writing this... I looked at Challenger Cliffs + I could see the infobox had calculated two POIs, but there were three listed POI on the page. Purging the cache on Challenger Cliffs by clicking on the wiki clock updated the infobox to 3. Purging the cache on Dry Top has updated the sum to 22. -Chieftain Alex 13:11, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- Heh. The problem actually got fixed by BryghtShadow's edit. Purging the cache on Dry Top was still necessary though. -Chieftain Alex 17:02, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Map Complete[edit]
I have done map complete on Dry Top on 3 different characters. This has awarded per character: 1 transmutation charge, 20 ambrite, 2 pieces of exotic berserker gear (I have gotten level 76 and 78 pieces, not sure if others are possible) and 100 geodes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pamoya (talk • contribs).
- With exception of material and map currency when applicable, all new map completion rewards are the same as old high level zone map completion rewards. Konig 06:25, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Events vs minutes past the hour[edit]
We probably need to do something like this image https://i.imgur.com/iZFMMeQ.jpg and get together a table of events vs times. -Chieftain Alex 15:58, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Feedback 2017/08/14[edit]
Dears, since the drop rate of geodes is pretty low, so that farming is pretty time consuming, I believe it could be good to highlight on the page that area completion brings 100 geodes at once. I have not seen the input? Sorry if I may have missed it. This 100 geodes earning is so much welcome, especially if working out the ambrite weapon collection! I can state again and again - to my surprise - that many players don't know it. Even in our guilds, I repeat it regularly and there are always some who have not known about and are thankful for the information. --Tilu (talk) 16:29, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks a bunch for letting us know! I have added it to the page, hopefully your guildmates will find it helpful. :) —Ventriloquist 16:44, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
Pretty much have to have expansions for this?[edit]
Got to the opening zone through the portal, but it appears as though the only way to go any further is to have a glider of some kind. If it's a jumping puzzle to go further, then there's not a lot of evidence to explain this.
If this is so, please confirm. Also, if this is so, it would be A Real Good Thing to actually mark those areas which are vaguely but not really accessible to those who don't have full content yet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Obloodyhell (talk) at 03:05, August 26, 2022 (UTC).
- This map was added before gliders were added to the game, you do not need a glider for any part of the map. There are little Aspect crystals around the map to help you move around. ItVictor (talk) 03:22, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- A: Thank you very much
- B: Perhaps someone might consider mentioning this in the main page for Drytop?
- C: I note what appear to be the same issues in the Silverwastes and getting access to Sharp Valley -- it's not at all clear how to access this area, there appear to be no videos discussing it, and the page info on it is sub-minimal. If someone familiar would consider adding some useful info on that page, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA to anyone who does this.
- Regarding Dry Top, that's a really great suggestion - I've added a #Navigation section (and also improved the linked Aspect article).
- I'll do the same for The Silverwastes. -Chieftain Alex 17:47, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
