Maps[edit]
Hi there. Just wanted to say I like what you're doing with those maps :) Inspired me to muck about with css for a few minutes. (I guess I went crazy when i did the maps on the other wiki and I know they take ages!) -Chieftain Alex 14:52, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, thanks, they do take a bit of time to line up, but not all that much. I just wish there were more and better region maps. The Ascalon map is nice, clean. I would have preferred an unexplored Orr map for the base. It is also cut off slightly at the top as I found out when trying to place the Straits of Devastation overlay properly. And I have yet to find the other region maps.
- The glow stuff is neat. Good work. What would really look good would be for the overlays to be hidden initially, with just outlines showing, and then show up on a mouse-over, like with the glows, only much more so! The glows would add a lot to my main Tyria map. I'll look into it when I get a little time. -- Crazy Old Man (grumbles) 15:22, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- true. "visibility:visible + visibility:hidden" sounded like they would allow us to do that, but it didn't work :p -Chieftain Alex 15:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- got it working :) -Chieftain Alex 17:32, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
From your userpage: "the sector boundaries are somewhat arbitrary." No, they are not - I know because I spent two weeks making a new character and re-exploring the entire world area-by-area in order to draw those area boundaries. They are as exact as I could make them given the "blurry" overlay that the game places on said boundaries. —Dr Ishmael 17:02, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- It is exactly that blurriness that makes them somewhat arbitrary. On the other hand, the fact that you spent the time to build that grid deserved IMMENSE credit! Could you go a step further please: put the grid on a separate transparent image that can be used as an overlay? That way, they could be turned on and off.
- Also, could you describe the process you used to generate those images, especially the tools you used? I would like to construct an entire series of maps using this overlay technique but I do not quite know exactly how to go about it. There is so much more that could be done! -- Crazy Old Man (grumbles) 16:15, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
