Dialogue[edit]
- Hey! You! Never interrupt a trainer when he's got a fighter in the arena.
- (If not charr)
- It's your lucky day. Make it quick.
- The Bane's a combat arena where a fighter, warband, or guild can test their skills through battle. Winners win fame. Losers lose limbs.
- The only rule is "win." Because in the Bane, you win a few, you lose just one. Unless they're able to pry your opponent off you in time.
- Can I ask something else?
- That's all. Thanks for your time.
What are the rules?
- I'm rather fond my limbs. See you.
I'd hoped you could tell me about the Bane.
- How long have you been fighting in the Bane?
- In the arena, I use a Destroyer Axe handed down from my great, great grandsire—an Axe Fiend who died battling the Gold Legion at Golghein. I fight to honor his memory.
- A noble inspiration indeed. Can I have one more moment?
- I'm sure he would be proud. So long.
What is your weapon of choice?
- On second thought, you look busy. Bye.
I just want to learn more about this place.
- (If charr)
- What do you want?
- Nothing ever changes here. Fighters battle fighters. Guilds fight guilds. And anyone can take on a creature. Then, a grunt with a wheelbarrow and shovel rolls out to clean the floor between bouts.
- The Bane is just like a battlefield. You survive, you make a name for yourself. You don't, you make compost.
- Can I ask you another question?
- It's good to see that nothing's changed.
So, it's still no holds... or weapons barred?
- Ahh, the memories.
I haven't been to the Bane in ages. What's changed?
- Time is measured in bouts here. I've faced minotaurs, harpies, devourers... even a few legion gladiators. Three hundred twenty-six bouts, and I've never had to be fitted for replacement parts.
- You're true survivor. Can I ask you another question?
- It's great to see the Bane is just as I remember.
How long have you been fighting in the Bane?
- In the arena, I live or die by the axe. In honor of my great, great grandsire, who was an Axe Fiend back in good old days, when we didn't have to play nice with the humans.
- I'm sure he'd be proud. Can I ask you another question?
- It's good to see that nothing at the Bane has changed.
What type of weapon do you favor?
- On second thought, you look busy. Bye.
Sure. I'll just wait until that scrub fighter of yours goes down. Any second now.
- I'll leave you to your training.
