Dialogue[edit]
- Ascalon
- Make yourself comfortable. All are welcome in our camp.
- What is this place?
- In this time of upheaval, we've created a retreat for animals out in the Fields of Ruin. It would be shameful to fight for the land and ignore the land's living parts.
- What upheaval?
- Since the cease fire, charr are pulling out of the area, and humans are spreading into the vacancy. In the meantime, the Foulbear ogres are trying to claim land for themselves.
- Aren't you worried, so close to Otyugh's Kraal?
- From what I have seen, Otyugh has no interest in land. His only goals are to find and tame unique pets. He protects them like a mother bear protects her cubs.
- Just be careful.
- Sounds complicated.
- Why are you doing this?
- In my Dream, I saw a forest filled with creatures, each one slowly slipping into shadow. I'm called to learn all I can about how animals live in nature so I can help preserve that life.
- Good luck with that.
- That's nice. Good-bye.
- Good to know.
- During the Defend Cymbel and Nia from the ogres trying to steal their pets event
- This place is a refuge! Please, help us drive the ogres out!
- I'm on it!
- After successfully completing the Defend Cymbel and Nia from the ogres trying to steal their pets event
- Thank you for helping us drive off those misguided ogres. I am all the more certain that what we do here is worthwhile.
- You're welcome. Mind if I stay awhile? (Returns to standard dialogue)
- I'm glad to have helped. Good-bye.
- During the Help Nia rescue Cymbel's hounds event
- Ogres from Otyugh's Kraal invaded our refuge and stole my sylvan hounds. My partner, Nia, went to retrieve them. I am filled with worry for all of them.
- Show me where they went.
- The ogres would have taken them south into Wildlin Narrows. That is where Otyugh keeps his pets. Please, I don't want anything unpleasant to befall them.
- South. Got it.
- Hope it turns out okay.
- After successfully completing the Help Nia rescue Cymbel's hounds event
- I was sick with worry while Nia was gone in search of our lost hounds. You have my deepest thanks for helping her to return to me.
- You're welcome. Mind if I stay awhile? (Returns to standard dialogue)
Chuka and Champawat[edit]
- With Chuka and Champawat III: Tigris active (before completing any event involving her hounds, with no events active)
- I was hoping to talk to you about tigers.
- You're a hunter? My calling is to preserve life, not aid in taking it.
- My hunt has given me a new respect for life.
- I will not trust your words alone.
- I'll prove it to you.
- I'll go then.
- With Chuka and Champawat III: Tigris active (before completing any event involving her hounds, during the Help Nia rescue Cymbel's hounds event)
- South. Got it.
- I'd like to talk to you about tigers.
- Does it look like I have time for that?
- You're right, I'm sorry. I'll help you first. (Same as "Show me where they went")
- I'll come back when you have more time.
- Hope it turns out okay.
- With Chuka and Champawat III: Tigris active (after completing any event involving her hounds)
- Thank you for your help. I think I was too quick to judge you... It's clear you share my respect for animals. What is it you want to know? (receives Cymbel's Trust)
- I want to learn more about tigers.
- In all of Tyria, I expect few have spent as much time with tigers as you, but you saw them with a hunter's eyes. You need to see them through their own eyes.
- How do I do that?
- All you need is the right frame of mind, and you have that. If you go back to where you started and investigate with this new perspective, I think you'll find the answers you seek.
- So I should retrace my hunt?
- Exactly. Oh! You could even keep a journal like before. Bring me a book like the one you had, and we'll get started!
- (If you have Crude Leather Book in your inventory)
- I have one already.
- Excellent! I'll just write a few notes, and you can be on your way. This is [sic] should be an interesting experience...
- I'm excited to get started! (receives Naturalist's Journal)
- I'll return with one.
- That sounds like way too much work.
- I don't have time for this.
- With Chuka and Champawat III: Naturalist's Journal active before turning in Naturalist's Journal: Entry 15
- You've been gone a while. Did you find what you were seeking?
- I found more. A litter of cubs. They're barely alive! Can you help them?
- Oh! Look at them, they're tiny! Yes, of course I'll help them!
- I found them abandoned.
- Once they're stronger, you should raise them. I'll help you, of course, whenever you need it.
- I'd like that.
- How exciting! I've never raised a tiger cub before.
- Take good care of them for me. I'll be back soon. (receives Completed Naturalist's Journal)
- I killed their mother...
- Ah. Respect for life can be hard lesson to learn, but worthwhile if you put this new perspective to good use.
- What should I do with the cubs? (Same as "I found them abandoned" above)
- I don't have time for this.
- We'll talk later.
- We'll talk later.
- After completing Chuka and Champawat III: Naturalist's Journal
- Don't worry, the cubs are fine. They'll be healthy and strong before you know it.
- They're doing fine.
- With Chuka and Champawat IV: A Nontraditional Family active, and no items acquired yet
- I've been thinking... The cubs are tiny now, but that won't last. This little refuge will soon seem cramped to them.
- What do you have in mind?
- We need to find a place that's spacious, remote, and more friendly for tigers. I've written down some potential locations.
- Let's take a look. (receive List of Secluded Locations and unlock its collection)
- On second thought, now's not the best time.
- With Chuka and Champawat IV: Secluded Tour active with all 8 locations scouted
- Have you found a suitable location yet?
- I found a great location in the Hidden Garden.
- Excellent! That settles it. (receives Comprehensive Feasibility Report)
- You look like you have something on your mind.
- The opportunity to observe tigers from such a young age is extremely rare. I'd like to capture and preserve it.
- Go on.
- I know the memory will become party of the Dream, but it's not the same. I want to share this with everyone.
- I feel the same.
- That's why I want to ask you to write it all down somewhere. Could I ask you to craft another book?
- Sure.
- Thank you for your help.
- There are still more places to evaluate.
- With Chuka and Champawat IV: A Nontraditional Family active, Tiger Den Map acquired but no Baby Book
- Do you have the book?
- I have one here.
- Excellent! Do you mind if I add a few notes of my own first?
- Of course not. (receives Baby Book)
- Not yet.
- With Chuka and Champawat IV: Baby Book active
- There are many things a tiger should know in order to survive. Normally, I suspect they'd learn these things from their mother, but with her gone...
- I've been thinking about this as well.
- Animals often learn by example. If you were to demonstrate something in the cubs' presence, I'm sure they'd pick it up.
- Any thoughts on what they should learn?
- Several. If you bring me another book, I can write them down for you.
- Sure. (receives Cymbel's Baby Book Notes)
- Let me get back to you on that.
- With Chuka and Champawat IV: A Nontraditional Family active, Completed Baby Book acquired but no Tiger Training Guide
- Do you have the book?
- (If you have Crude Leather Book in your inventory)
- I have one here.
- Perfect! Give me a moment to jot some things down...
- OK...
- Done! Now go, your cubs are waiting.
- Take care. (receives Tiger Training Guide)
- Not yet.
- After acquiring certain items
- Do you have the book?
- I misplaced my Naturalist's Journal.
- A traveler gave me a journal that she found along the roadside. Perhaps it's yours?
- It is, thank you! (receives Naturalist's Journal)
- No, that must be someone else's.
- I lost your tiger care notes. (if your character does not have the recipes from Cymbel's Baby Book Notes unlocked)
Quotes[edit]
- If you kill Timid Hyena
- You brute! I almost had him tamed.
- After the success of Help Nia rescue Cymbel's hounds
- Thank you. I feel whole again.
