The Crimson Blade is a sword forged in blood. It was wielded by Prince Nekandezzar of Orr, the Grand Deceiver.
After the Elder Dragon Zhaitan awoke and raised Orr from the depths while corrupting the corpses there into the Risen, it made Nekandezzar one of its champions and tasked him to lead a sizable Risen army guarding the Cathedral of Verdance.
During the Pact's campaign against Zhaitan in 1325 AE, their army faced the Risen defenders led by Nekandezzar while trying to push south to Arah. Despite seemingly slaying the Risen prince, he always returned to face them again with Risen reinforcements. After the Durmand Priory had used the magic of a Searing Cauldron to decimate the Risen army, Laranthir of the Wild and the Pact Commander explored the cathedral to ensure that Nekandezzar had been slain. However, the Risen prince proved to be more cunning than they had expected and engaged the pair in battle upon revealing himself.
Nekandezzar used his magic to sustain his elite guard and disguised them to look like himself; as long as the prince himself remained standing, his fallen bodyguards would rise infinitely, effectively making them nigh immortal. Realizing that the only way to defeat the Risen defenders was to slay the real Nekandezzar, Laranthir urged the Commander to seek out anything that made the prince stand out from the decoys. The pair eventually discovered that Nekandezzar wielded the legendary Crimson Blade while the decoys wielded ordinary swords. Armed with this knowledge, they focused their attacks on the Risen prince and defeated him for good, weakening Risen presence in the area.
The fate of the Crimson Blade after the encounter remains unknown.
