Jewel

Jewels are crafted at a jeweler's station by combining a gemstone with a filigree. They are used as activators in the making of trinkets, and also as upgrade components for trinkets. Corresponding gemstones and jewels (e.g. a Garnet Pebble (gemstone) and an Adorned Garnet Jewel (jewel)) both give a bonus to the same attributes, although the amount of bonus given by the jewel is greater than that from the gemstone.

Unlike gemstones, jewels do not have dedicated storage slots in the collections section of the account vault (and therefore cannot be deposited remotely), though like all items they can be stored in the general bank area.

Similarly, unlike gemstones, jewels cannot be used as an upgrade component for armor or weapon upgrades.

Jewels, like gemstones, can be used in multiple ways:

  • Crafting material - When incorporated during the crafting process, a jewel creates a DMasterwork version of the same item that is made using the gemstone of the same tier. The required level to equip and attribute bonuses of the finished item are usually, but not always (as in Tier 1 amulets, e.g. Garnet Amulet of Might) increased over those of the CFine item made with the gemstone.
  • Upgrade component - Jewels may be added to a trinket (including a back item) with an Upgrade Slot.png unused upgrade slot, giving that item the attribute bonuses inherent to the jewel, in addition to those the item already possessed. Note that like other upgrade components, jewels cannot be removed from an item (other than by salvaging the item), but can be replaced by a new upgrade (destroying the old one).

Jewels that give bonuses to the attributes Critical Damage.png Critical Damage and Magic Find.png Magic Find (such as Peridot, Sunstone, ..., ...) will use the percentage listed for the minor bonus.

Example 1: Amethyst has 1Major under Power.png Power and 0Minor for Vitality.png Vitality. This means that an Intricate Amethyst Jewel.png Intricate Amethyst Jewel will give bonuses of +7 Power and +3 Vitality, while the Gilded Amethyst Jewel.png Gilded Amethyst Jewel gives bonuses of +9 Power and +7 Vitality.
Example 2: Peridot has 1Major under Power.png Power and 0Minor for Critical Damage.png Critical Damage. Therefore, an Intricate Peridot Jewel.png Intricate Peridot Jewel will give bonuses of +7 Power and +1% Critical Damage, while the Gilded Peridot Jewel.png Gilded Peridot Jewel gives bonuses of +9 Power and +2% Critical Damage.

Jewels are crafted at a jeweler's station, from gemstones and a filigree of the same tier. Embellished jewel recipes cannot be learned by the discovery process, instead they must be learned from a recipe sheet purchased from a master jeweler.
