Walkthrough[edit]

The instance starts with Fort Salma's western gate being attacked by Mordrem, so fight them off. After the gate is secure, Belinda will ask you to rescue and escort a small group of Seraphs to the northwest.

Meet up with Kasmeer and Marjory back in Fort Salma, finding them just inside the gate to your left. Travel via the northern wall (you can take the southern wall if you want, but there are more foes) to avoid the Corrupt Boon.png Acidic Field in the center, and find the arrow cart on the eastern wall. After you have secured the cart, use it to destroy all the Mordrem attacking the eastern gate. Try to ignore the Mordrem attacking your platform and focus on the ones below.

After the gate is secure, a Mordrem Thrasher boss will spawn. It starts off invulnerable to damage, inside a shield of vines and green smoke. You'll need to escort Marjory's Bone Fiend minions up to the shield, which the fiends can destroy. At that point you can attack the Thrasher; rinse and repeat the process a few times. Kasmeer's reflect barriers can protect you against the Thrasher's spore projectiles, if needed. Once the Thrasher is dead, head west through the fort to regroup with Belinda.

If you are defeated during the battle with the Mordem Thrasher and return to a waypoint, Kasmeer and Marjory may not show up at the Thrasher fight.

Reward: Burning Ember.pngPile of Silky Sand (50)
Completed Trouble at Fort Salma 0Achievement points
This achievement rewards items. Timely Arrival Entanglement 5Achievement points
Don't let any members of the stranded Seraph squad die.Story Instance: Trouble at Fort Salma
Reward: Story Journal chest.pngAmbrite Stash
Saved Every Stranded Seraph 5Achievement points
  • This is obtainable during the "rescue and escort the Seraph to the fort" story step. They cannot be attacked until Belinda finishes asking you for help, so it is possible to reach the Seraph and get ready before they start taking damage. It is fairly straight forward; crowd control and high DPS will help you complete it.
  • Achievement qualification may be tracked via the Achievement effect.png Timely Arrival effect.
This achievement rewards items. Butterflies and Viscera Entanglement 5Achievement points
Defeat the Mordrem thrasher without losing any of Marjory's minions.Story Instance: Trouble at Fort Salma
Reward: Story Journal chest.pngGeode Cache
Defeated Mordrem Thrasher without Losing a Minion 5Achievement points
  • You may want some help with this one as Mordrem Wolves tend to spawn close to the Bone Fiends, which move slowly. Doing this event solo, you won't have much time to hit the boss; with two players you can have one defend the Fiends and the other attack the boss. The Fiends can spawn to the north, west and east of the Thrasher, but without any obvious order. Crowd control helps with the Wolves, and ally healing/regen are useful if a Fiend takes too much damage.
  • Achievement qualification may be tracked via the Achievement effect.png Butterflies and Viscera effect.
This achievement rewards items. Sheltered from the Rain Entanglement 5Achievement points
Defeat the Mordrem thrasher without getting hit by its rain of spores.Story Instance: Trouble at Fort Salma
Reward: Story Journal chest.pngStore of Edible Cactus
Defeated the Mordrem Thrasher while Avoiding Spore Rain 5Achievement points
  • Avoid being hit by any of the projectiles from the Mordrem Thrasher's spinning attack. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell which projectiles are from the Thrasher and which are from the Jungle Tendrils. Kasmeer's reflect barriers may help, along with any similar skills you have, but it's best to dodge and avoid any red circle, making ranged weapons recommended to get the achievement.

Dialogue[edit]

Speaking with Peneloopee (when not being recognized by her)
EeeeeeEEEeeeee! Do not come any closer!
Talk quest option tango.png It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you.
Can you kill those monsters? You look like you could kill those monsters. Quaggans want to leave sooOOoon.
Talk more option tango.png What's happening?
Quaggan isn't sure, but plants are growing evil. There are many dying inside the fort.
Talk end option tango.png I'll see what I can do.
Talk end option tango.png I'll see what I can do.
Talk end option tango.png Hang in there.
Speaking with Peneloopee
What are you doing here? It's dangerous here! Bloomanoo! Quaggans' friend is here.
Talk quest option tango.png I'm here to help.
Oh, the situation is dire. You should have brought your army with you. You could hide with quaggans, if you want.
Talk quest option tango.png No, but thank you. You two should get out of here.
Quaggan knows. Quaggan wants to get out of Kessex Hills and never ever ever come back. But...quaggans have to wait and hope a path clears.
Talk more option tango.png You've made quite a trek to get here.
Yes. Quaggans are determined to find a warm, watery place to make a pod. Quaggans are tired of the foobull! There must be somewhere safe or all of Tyria is dooOOoomed.
Talk more option tango.png Where are you heading?
Right now, quaggans just want to get out of Kessex Hills alive.
Talk more option tango.png What's happening?
Quaggan isn't sure, but plants are growing evil. There are many dying inside the fort.
Talk end option tango.png Be brave, my friend. Everything will be all right.
Talk end option tango.png Hang in there.

Ambient scenes between Peneloopee and Bloomanoo
Peneloopee: Bloomanoo! Be careful!
Peneloopee: Are they still there?
Bloomanoo: Oh yes. In all directions. Quaggans cannot flee.
Peneloopee: (whine)
Peneloopee: Is it safe?
Bloomanoo: No.
Peneloopee: Quaggans should go back inside!
Bloomanoo: After you, love.
Peneloopee: Quaggans were born in—and now will die in—stupid Kessex Hills.
Peneloopee: Oh, Bloomanoo. Quaggan hates Kessex Hills.
Bloomanoo: Maybe quaggans can run to the gate and it will open.
Peneloopee: Did quaggan not see that giant vine inside?
Peneloopee: D-d-did quaggan not hear the screams?
Bloomanoo: Ohhhh.
Peneloopee: Quaggan thought it would be safe here.
Bloomanoo: There are monsters everywhere!
Bloomanoo: Not yet. It's still not safe.
Bloomanoo: Shooosh. Make no sound.
After clearing the enemies at the gate
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Hey! Glad to have a helping hand. Part of my squad is pinned down at the bottom of the hill.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: If you can go get them, I'll open the gate and let you all in at once.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: We can give you cover from the walls. Hurry, they won't hold out much longer.
When reaching the fort
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Hey! My sister and Kasmeer are holding the courtyard. Get in here if you want to join them.
When entering the fort
Kasmeer Meade: Jory! Backup's here.
Marjory Delaqua: And not a moment too soon. Belinda and the Seraph are holding the walls, for now. There seems to be no end to these attacks.
Kasmeer Meade: We should take the stragglers that make it past the Seraph. The creatures keep coming—both over and under the walls.
Marjory Delaqua: Good thinking. I'm determined to hold out until they stop.
Kasmeer Meade: Me too. A Seraph told me they've got krait obelisk shards here—from the Tower of Nightmares. They're too valuable to let fall into the wrong hands.
Marjory Delaqua: Get ready, everyone. Here comes another wave.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Sis! The eastern gate is getting hit hard. Can you get over there and reinforce it?
Marjory Delaqua: You betcha. We can use the northern wall to get there. Looks safer than trying to plow through the middle.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: When you get there, bring the siege weapons back up. You'll need their firepower to keep the gate clear.
Marjory Delaqua: Lead on. We'll follow.
Kasmeer Meade: Let me give you a boost.
Marjory Delaqua: My power is yours. Make it count!
Upon reaching the arrow cart
Kasmeer Meade: Um... I don't know how to work an arrow cart.
Marjory Delaqua: You don't?
Kasmeer Meade: I must have skipped out the day we covered siege warfare between my etiquette and dance classes.
After destroying the Mordrem at the eastern gate
Kasmeer Meade: That did it. The courtyard's secure for now.
Marjory Delaqua: (sigh) Seems our luck is holding.
Kasmeer Meade: Hold on. Do you hear that? What is...
(cutscene)
Marjory Delaqua: Hmph. Of course they couldn't just let us rest. That sounds big.
Kasmeer Meade: Oh dear! It's massive! What's our strategy?
Marjory Delaqua: The bigger they are, the harder they fall. I'm guessing if we take out King Monstrosity, the grunts will give up.
Initially dealing with the Mordrem Thrasher's barrier
Marjory Delaqua: Listen. That thing is shielded. We're going to have to coordinate our efforts to bring it down.
Marjory Delaqua: I can rig my minions to explode on contact. The impact will putrefy its shielding, and that will give you an opportunity to strike.
After initial encounter with barrier
Marjory Delaqua: Damn. We can't hurt it while it's shielded. Get my minions in there.
Marjory Delaqua: Keep my minion alive, and it'll tear down that...thing's shield.
If a minion is either killed or detonates at the barrier
Marjory Delaqua: Another minion coming up. Keep it safe.
Marjory Delaqua: Sending in another minion. Ensure that it makes contact.
During the first Mordrem Thasher's Rain of Spores attack
Kasmeer Meade: Those spores are lethal. I can cover you. Stay in my barriers when things start going crazy.
Whenever Kasmeer creates a shielding bubble (one of the following)
Kasmeer Meade: Maintaining the barrier is straining my limits. Please be careful. I'll try to form some more.
Kasmeer Meade: I've got you. Get to safety under my barrier.
Kasmeer Meade: I'll cover you. Use it to your advantage.
After finding Belinda crushed by the vines
Kasmeer Meade: We're here, Jory.
Marjory Delaqua: I know.
Kasmeer Meade: Tell us what you need.
Marjory Delaqua: I'm okay. I just needed a minute. I'm sorry.
Kasmeer Meade: I understand completely.
Marjory Delaqua: I can't lose control here. If you're too sweet to me, I'll fall apart.
Kasmeer Meade: Okay. Okay, we have a lot of work to do.
Marjory Delaqua: Right. I have to get her ready—take her home. I have to tell...tell Momma.
Kasmeer Meade: We'll do it all together.
Marjory Delaqua: I...I don't know if that's...the best way. I think we need to talk.
Marjory Delaqua: Kas. Honey. I want you to go with them.
Kasmeer Meade: What? No, I can't. My place is with you. What if you need me?
Marjory Delaqua: I'll be okay. Our friends need you more. You have to keep them safe. I'll be with family. I'll catch up when I can.
Kasmeer Meade: No, Jory. It doesn't feel right. This terrible... Your sister... I should be with you.
Marjory Delaqua: I love you for that. But no. You should be with them. We're talking about a dragon—the dragon that killed...Belinda.
Kasmeer Meade: I don't...like it.
Marjory Delaqua: I hear what you're saying, love. But this is how it has to be. We have greater responsibilities. What do you think?
Kasmeer Meade: I'll go. But not tonight. Tonight, I'm staying with you. I'll leave tomorrow when you do.
Marjory Delaqua: This is the best way. You'll see.
Kasmeer Meade: I hope you're right.

My story[edit]

Trouble at Fort Salma loading screen.jpg

I fought my way into Fort Salma to fend off a monstrous Mordrem thrasher alongside Marjory and Kasmeer, only to discover that we were too late to save Belinda. Marjory will return home to bury her fallen sister, while Kasmeer and I will head back to Dry Top to rejoin our friends.

I could tell Kasmeer was upset that Marjory is leaving her behind while she takes care of funeral arrangements for her sister. The relentless fighting and sudden loss is taking its toll on their relationship.
