User:Google.com
Are these kind of names not sort of crossing a line?
Even if he was User:Shiro GW2Pro or something, I'd have less of a problem with it, but the fact he's so blatantly put the URL in it really irks me. A F K When Needed 23:57, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

2 Accounts
It seems I have 2 accounts how do I go about deleting one of them? and do all the associating pages and user images need to be deleted too? I am Kraal and Fardale. I wish to keep the Fardale account. Cheers and, yes sig is a work in progress :D FardaleFeedback 17:44, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- You can request a user merge here. This process will combine the contributions from both accounts into the desired account. Old pages can then be redirected to the new pages, and unwanted pages can be marked for deletion. - Infinite - talk 17:48, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Apart from that, deleting accounts is not possible, so even after a user merge, both accounts will stay in your possession. You just have to stop using the old one then. This also means, that you can simply leave the user pages/files around, or tag them for deletion. poke | talk 18:27, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Wondering if I can replace the redirect on the Beta weekend events page since it is officially Beta Weekend Event; grammar isn't an issue in this case, or am I incorrect? Drago 23:45, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've moved it to Beta Weekend Event. pling 21:14, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Account creation, from long ago
You had made a comment, a long time ago (2010) in regards to the account Venom already existing but no log associated with it. Like you said, this means that only it was created a long long time ago (prior to enabling logs). I have a sneaky suspicion that I created it shortly after game launch but never actually used it. Is there and IP address anywhere that surrounds it. I know what the first octet of my old address. I would like to use it (Venom), and was wondering what an appropriate amount of time needs to pass while it is unclaimed before I can potentially claim it. Venom20 18:39, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- There's no Checkuser log for it so I can't know the IP address. How do you intend to use it - just for a redirect or to actually use the account to contribute? The latter isn't possible unless you know the password for it, and the former... well, technically you shouldn't in case the account becomes active, because that means signatures or whatever using the redirect would be incorrect (they'd point to Venom, another user, instead of to you). Short of blocking the account so it can't contribute at all, I'm not sure you can claim it. pling 18:53, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- I checked any passwords that I may have used against the username, so doubtful that it was me. I was planning on using it to contribute. Not a big worry, I'd rather use what I have now than run into a headache later. Thanks for the quick answer! Venom20 04:17, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Is there a style guide on item pages?
And if so, how do I change it? I hate the couple items I've seen. Wrote up an alternative on my user page. —Tanaric 00:31, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- There are no formatting guidelines on GW2W. I know back when I thought about it, there wasn't any information on which to build anything proper. It'll be a good thing to consider for new editors to reference when adding new info. I'll be messing around with a few things I've noticed once beta weekend ends. — Gares 00:56, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Guild Wars 2 Wiki:General formatting, dunno how out of date it is -Auron 01:04, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's pretty basic. I believe Tanaric is referring to something like gw1:Guild_Wars_Wiki:Formatting/Items. — Gares 01:06, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy something like that doesn't exist. :) That said, I would like to get a little more feedback on condensing our item pages before I start putting forward effort to rewrite them. My goal this time around is to keep the wiki editable by random passers-by. Template and guideline proliferation made it impossible for casual editors to deal with GWW. I'd like to have non–computer science degree holders able to contribute this time around. —Tanaric 05:04, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Non-computer science degree holders editing a wiki? Now that is thinking outside the box. :P But it's true. That GWW item guide could be seen as rather intimidating.
- With your question regarding items, I wasn't quite sure if you were looking for specific guides, such as items, weapons, armor, etc. (which we don't have), or just what was out there (which Auron listed). You have my thoughts already. — Gares 05:39, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

- Yup, GW2W:PP#Page and image formatting are the only formatting guides we have so far. I agree with what you're saying about templates; even the reward table for events, for example, is unnecessarily complex. pling 20:37, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

reply
No one asked me a question. They're advice is not sound. It's the "norm" to archive, it's not a policy. Why do I have to do what everyone else does? Why would I ever want to look back, especially now, on something that irritated me or will be irrelevant in a month or so? Am I offending you for deleting text? I need a throughout explanation why I cannot delete the comments on my page. Either make it an official policy/rule/what have you, or let me delete my comments. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Phoenix Inertia (talk).
- Auron just put a thorough explanation on your talk page on that. Mediggo 00:01, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- The stuff about icons, images, moving pages - all of that is valid and informative. Leaving them on your page will stop people repeating the same thing, because when they come to your talk page, they'll see you've already been informed about it. Which means you'll get fewer posts, you'll get less irritated, and you can spend more time doing something else. Archiving isn't a rule (but then nor is anything else), but the point is it's useful - and that's a wiki's goal.
- The main reason I warned you, however, is because it seems like you're disregarding the helpful advice and info, being hostile to users who mean well when they post to you, and, when you do respond, it's in an uncivil way. It's like putting your hand in someone's face and walking away when they try talking to you. You wouldn't do that in real life, and similarly on a wiki it isn't an appropriate way to act. pling 00:12, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- This is the last time that this conversation will be brought up because it's going on several pages. The information that was left on my talk page has been officially archived thanks to you. That being said, I was never harsh with anyone. I simply posted to not post on my talk page and to please use my e-mail. Point. Blank. Period. I never got personal. No one's mother was brought into it nor looks nor job history, or what have you. I think the fact that I wasn't archiving and following what everyone else did aggravated people and they took it personally. What is so civilized about telling someone what to do when it is not mandatory? That is not appropriate either. I was not hostile until I felt like I was being harassed. This whole situation could have been avoided if someone asked me and not tell me to do something that I do not have to do. Yes, Aqua did, and I didn't think it was a rule. I thought it was a suggestion and I opted not to. Phoenix Inertia 01:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

wiki error
I thought I'd mention it before going to the error page (for reporting). About 2-3 times a week I get the following error:
- Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information.
The rest of the page is empty (white) except for the logo at the top. I did not pay enough attention to it thought to see if anything else is floating at the top. I can screenshot it if needed as I'm sure it'll happen again. Just wondering if you know why it may be happening Venom20 17:37, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- Already reported. —Dr Ishmael 17:49, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
patrolled edits
First thing I noticed after the promotion is that the wiki has $wgUseRCPatrol turned on (per MW default; we've always had it turned off at GuildWiki). Is this mechanism actually utilized here? If so, are there any guidelines I should know about? Or can I add &hidepatrolled=1
to my custom RC link? —Dr Ishmael 22:38, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Some sysops have their .js autopatrol any diff they check, others ignore it entirely. Feel free to go either way you prefer. - Tanetris 22:45, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Alrighty. Since I'm not accustomed to using it, I'll ignore it for now. —Dr Ishmael 00:10, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Interview missing on the news & announcements page
Sorry for not knowing the proper etiquette, but I noticed that the News and Announcements is missing an interview Mike O'Brian had on 8/31. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-31-guild-wars-2-interview-the-boss-obrien-on-launch-growing-pains-reviews-and-patches - Xfraze 06:05, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Do you mean the news page? Feel free to update it yourself (you can use the previous news entries as a guide if you're not sure how to format it).
- That said, it does look like it hasn't been updated for a month or so, so I'm not sure what's going on there; it's not a page I follow. Someone brought up this issue on Talk:News#Outdated? so it might be worth discussing there. pling 17:57, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- I actually meant the news and updates section on the main page, the part where it lists a the latest news, not all of them. I tried to update but it said it was locked, I'll try doing the news page directly. Thanks! Xfraze 07:05, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps you meant Template:News? -- ab.er.rant 13:48, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oh right, the main page bit - that's edited through Aberrant's link. I don't think interviews are usually put there though, only things like blog posts/GW2.com articles. pling 16:36, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Game updates
I have some notes on what older updates changed, if I find them can you stick them in? I kept some note sof this somwhere. Previously Unsigned 15:05, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- You can add them yourself! :P Create the page using the format "Game updates/year-month-day"; since they're unofficial, stick them under a ===Guild Wars 2 Wiki notes=== header. I think the game updates page will automatically display it. pling 15:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Jeweled Broach
Hi there, the top half of the Jeweled Broach Page is still not editable for me: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jeweled_Broach. It has a half finished paragraph on there. If it is editable for you replacing the line above the recipe with the paragraph below will finish it good...
The Jeweled Broach can be bought from Irvine outside Kessex Haven in Kessex Hills for 2 Silver 88 Copper. Irvine is not always there. He along with his merchant pack bull and his friend Jelenda are available after the world event Escort_the_caravan_to_Kessex_Haven has been completed.
Medseven 04:20, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm still not sure why it wasn't letting you edit, but I've added this on the page. pling 15:09, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- I see, thanks. Was just that page for me, I see you also changed some formatting, for the good, has given me pointers for future pages I may find myself adding Medseven 15:59, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- You say "the top half of the page is not editable". Were you using the "edit" tab at the top of the page, or clicking the "edit" link on the "Recipes" header? Clicking section edit links will only show you that section in the edit box; to edit the intro section, you have to use the page's edit tab. —Dr Ishmael 16:02, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- I can understand that clicking the 'edit' link on the 'Recipes' header would only allow me to edit that section. This was not what I was doing. Just for some reason that one page does not have a 'edit' link at the top page for me, which would normally appear above the 'in-game description' box! Although the page is finished now and all other pages are fine for myself. Medseven 07:49, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
How do you move a page?
I need to move a page with an incorrect title to its correct title but I can't find the 'move' feature. --Preedee 22:58, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- There is a "move" link at the top of the page, next to "history". -- ab.er.rant 04:23, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Only "autoconfirmed" users gain access to the "move" action. To become autoconfirmed, you have to make a certain number of edits or wait a certain length of time after registering, or both. We don't know the exact values for either of those because Anet controls the wiki configuration and hasn't told us. —Dr Ishmael 12:56, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Any chance they could get removed altogether? I have edited before anonymously and the *only* reason why I registered was so that I could move an article... which I just realized I can't even when registered. Why limit moves to registered users anyways? This is a wiki afterall... --Preedee 18:24, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- It doesn't require admin intervention to undo a vandalising edit, but it does require an admin to undo a vandal's move. As for the numbers, you'd have to ask ArenaNet about them I guess. -- ab.er.rant 03:59, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly we have the same numbers set here. Unfortunately allowing move for unregistered users, or new users (registration is not an obstacle for vandals), is not really an option, as there is a long history of vandals making use of the move feature. And as Ab.er.rant said, the amount of mess a move creates is usually not reversible by normal users alone. poke | talk 10:48, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

know about this error?
i uploaded a lot of images but keep getting this error: "Error creating thumbnail: /home/httpd/guildwars2/gw2/bin/ulimit4.sh: line 4: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory" should I just upload everything a second time or wait for it to fix itself? image shows up on wiki and such, but when linked to, that shows up instead of an image. Request for arbitration
Hi Pling, I posted a request for arbitration here. --Santax (talk · contribs) 20:10, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- It's going to be a busy week for me, so I probably won't be able to chip in; I'll leave it to other admins.
- However, a note about what's really just nomenclature: there isn't GWW-esque "arbitration" on GW2W, instead admins just deal with issues in the normal way. It's not limited to bureaucrats, and there's no formal procedure for it, other than letting admins know what's up (e.g. via noticeboard), which you did. Technicalities I suppose, but important to distinguish. pling 06:06, 29 October 2012 (PDT)
