- Is this what you wanted? Mat Cauthorn, The Botanist 15:50, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- It's rather hard to exactly explain but here's an attempt: In many of the last edits, I had the text of the navigation, including the breaking lines in the center. If possible, I'd like only that part of the navigation centered in the original coding (so that the rest of the page is in the same design, but not centered, following the regular 3em padding). I tried messing with floats, HTML and I am starting to believe it doesn't work unless I write my own CSS for it... I hope the idea is clear, though. - Infinite - talk 15:54, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

My idea for the Wiki logo
Because no one noticed it on the copy of the Main Page talk... - Infinite - talk 19:29, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think it would look better without the cloud behind the logo, though I think it's just there because you whited out the old GW2 logo. I wonder if ANet would provide a logo with "OFFICIAL [[WIKI]]" written in the GW2 font, as I think that would be even better.-- Shew 20:26, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- It would be very cool if we could get the animated logo which was on the gw2 official site before gamescom. That and having the official wiki line in GW2 font. Would probably be the best logo, however I do enjoy the current logo. It's less dragon-driven (yeah, the initial release is all about dragons, but come on, it should be more about Tyria than dragons >.> I mean, the dragons can't be the focus of the entire GW2 game, expansions and other primary plots, like the Nightmare Court, included). -- Konig/talk 22:05, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- No I did not white out the old logo, thank you very much. The reason that shade is there is simply because the old logo had that very depth, which had nothing to do with the logo on its own (but rather the design of the Wiki background). for that reason I maintained the foggy shadows and depth. As to why I made it like this was not because I enjoy creating/editing logo's, but really just because there's a new official logo, so it should be appropriate to use that as the Wiki logo as well. Apparently no one bothered to make it look like something ANet would've uploaded for the Wiki so I did what I reckoned they'd have done. The only other option is render out the "GuildWars" part and position that above some icon from GW2 (as seen on the GWW). However, I like the calm feel of it, though, even if I made it myself. - Infinite - talk 23:38, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think we should keep it cuz it was the original till the gw2 comes out you never know they might change it...Again!--♥Icyyy♥ 03:18, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

What is...
What is the direct purpose of listing a skill list on a skill page, when we're already linking to a list of skills on the very page? Yes, this is about the various pointless navs people keep creating. - Infinite - talk 18:45, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- ^ <3, Exactly my point. --Naut 18:46, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- The "point" is that when someone comes along, who is not from this wiki but merely wants information about their newly created ele, they do not have to follow links upon links. All the information is readily at their fingertips on the one page they made have loaded. Venom20 18:51, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd like to see the template used on each skill page and get rid of the list of skills. Redirecting people to the template instead from the main pages like Necromancer, etc. Ariyen 18:53, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree, navs on such grand scales are messy and annoying. Just because we have only a few skills now, that will expand. - Infinite - talk 18:54, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- "they do not have to follow links upon links." 2-3 Links is hardly "links upon links", and if we did use them. As Infinite pointed out, they will get far too big. --Naut 18:56, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I still don't understand people's fascination with them being too large. They are expandable. If you don't want to use it, don't expand it. If you do want to use it, then it is still smaller than a list. Venom20 19:04, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- But we already have a list, so we'd be doubling up. Loquay's version 2 of the skill infobox template has a quick link to skills for that weapon group; how does that not work better than a huge-ass (albeit expandable) nav? - Infinite - talk 19:06, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- His skill infobox, imo has too much to it that'd confuse anyone. It did me at first, but I still didn't understand for half of it being there. I liked the style, but that's bout it. Ariyen 19:34, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) You can't organize the templates like you can with lists. (See gw1:List of elementalist skills.) Once all the skills are revealed/released, the list will be very large, and this isn't important because it'll take up a large amount of space, but rather because it'll be a (presumably) alphabetic list of many, many skills, showing little relation between them other than the profession and/or weapon and/or race it's available for. It's doesn't seem like it'll be that useful compared to a list. --Kyoshi (Talk) 19:36, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) No one ever answered me as to why both cannot exist. I see the point in a list. They are very easy to sort through (assuming that you can sort by parameters like GW1). But they're large and required people to click a small icon (first timers would not know about) or click on a drab boring link that says list. Lists are very pretty with icons showing and can be convenient. Navs are placed towards the bottom of an article and allow viewers to find things at a glance without running searches (searching this wiki can be painful). Navs are not as pretty and don't have the same search parameters but that's not what they are there for. In short, both a list and a nav do the same things but they would each have their own reason for being. Venom20 19:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hence you can order the list in ways to make it display skills/etc in a specific order. A nav can't just display parts of itself conveniently, whereas a list can. - Infinite - talk 19:46, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Lists are great for that, but they're not great for finding things at a glance. Sure one can load a list and filter it and ctrl+f to find things. But overall, they really aren't that convenient. Much of what we create and document here isn't for us computer/wiki people. It for people who love to play or who casually play. People who perhaps aren't that adept at actually using a wiki. Venom20 19:50, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Anyone with a computer knows lists have nice order buttons next to or as the topics within the list (if they don't, they won't be using the wiki already). They know how to order on names or profession, so they should be equally capable of ordering on weapon type. Please don't dumb down the users. - Infinite - talk 19:55, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Redundancy is redundant. --hnzdvn 20:08, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- How about a nav linking to lists of skill types that the skill falls into? Could say "Similar skills" with the "show" link, and link to lists such as, for example, Staff skills, Elementalist skills, Fire Attunement skills, AoE skills, etc. This way, new users have a link to similar skills that they'll be able to find right away. Having a nav at the bottom of the page with every comparison instead would be every bit as confusing as leaving no connection to the lists besides categories. --Kyoshi (Talk) 20:29, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) You're right Kyoshi thats a wonderful idea. Its called categories... Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 20:33, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Categories are not for new users. They're difficult to navigate, they can't be sorted, and they don't list as much information. That's why we make lists in the first place. --Kyoshi (Talk) 20:38, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Because of these attacks on Venom20 and a general trend of escalating hostility, I've given you a three-day block to serve as a time out. You're crazy!
"Instead of changing character every quest/event, I'm about to revolutionize my gameplay altogether. I will task myself to play one character throughout the entire week. Once the week's passed, I move onto the next character and so on. Once all 8 characters had a week, it's back to the first week's character." I could never let my poor characters sit on the shelf for 2 months. I'll probably only have like 2-3 mains. Venom20 14:29, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- I am crazy! :D To be fair, I think I might be one of the first, if not the first to have 8 different primaries at level 80. (Seeing the lack of RL obligations at any time. :P) This is not some statement I'm trying to make, it's just something to regulate my gameplay so I have something to look forward to. :) It also forces me to do things I might not enjoy as much, which will hopefully contribute to future issues in-game and out. Besides, I really have been toying with the idea on GW1 as well, but it never took off there. :P - Infinite - talk 14:33, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey
I've seen that you are in the helper program and I'm really noob at this wikithings so I want to ask you a couple of questions, first one is how do I delete/rename a page (because I made a page and gave it the wrong name) and the second is how can I make my userpage look kinda cool and put userboxes and that things. Thank you! Bitter 14:17, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- You (yourself) cannot actualy delete pages, that is left for the Admins to do, if you would like a page to be deleted, you just put
{{Delete| reason goes here }}
- at the top of the page, if you would like to "rename" a page, click the move tab at the top of the page (should be located next to "history"), you can then select the new page name and just leave the unwanted one (or, if you do not want the unwanted one at all, add a delete tag (above) to it, as long as the content is on the new page, and the old one is up for deletion, you should be fine.)--213.106.107.251 15:32, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
