Talk:Stability

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki

My guess is that it will protect the user from being launched or knocked down. Maybe even slowed or immobilized. 66.176.28.250 21:47, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

boon?[edit]

Sure it's not a boon? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:81.132.235.21 (talk).

It might be a boon, but we're not sure. All boons are effects so until we know better about how these things work in game calling it an effect will have to do. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 08:43, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Although it is relatively safe to assume this is a boon, given its effect and means to apply it, we have no confirmation to document it as such and it will thus remain an effect until we do. - Infinite - talk 14:16, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

new skill[edit]

Nature's renewal is a new ranger elite which also grants stability. I don't know how to add it to the list so maybe someone else could do it. Elonwolf 12:04, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Shade[edit]

Yes it says "being slowed" instead of crippled/chilled, but, should we add it to the list? (Perhaps "effects that duplicate stability") Aqua (T|C) 02:17, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Reworked[edit]

As seen in BWE1, stability was reworked and now grants immunity to every hard-cc in the game. Soft-cc (like crippled, chilled and immobilized) is not included anymore. Gnarf 09:51, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

I assume it also grants immunity to being pulled. But the description should still reflect in-game description. Any other effects not mentioned in game should be noted instead. Nvm, figured it'd be quote of in-game description there. Adding Pull now. Mediggo 10:04, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
The ingame description doesn't state pull. But I assume it works. Gnarf 10:07, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Rampage as One[edit]

Just added rampage as one to the list of Ranger skills as this also provides Stability :) (Legendary Steve 23:04, 24 June 2012 (UTC))

Wards?[edit]

I'm curious if anyone has tested to see if Stability allows movement through Guardian Wards and other skills like the Elementalist Static Field. The reason I ask is because I noticed the notes under these skills mentioning they Stun or Knockdown, which is what Stability guards against. Thanks guys and gals. --Squyres 16:58, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Yes, you can walk through. Gnarf 16:12, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Pull[edit]

While the description doesn't say so, does stability grant you immunity against pull? Gnarf 16:07, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't think I've ever seen anyone Scorpion Wire an oakheart or any boss with Defiance. Mediggo 13:37, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Now a boon[edit]

As of today's stress test, stability is now a boon. The icon is the old one of retaliation, which now got a star as new icon. — Gnarf ~ El Psy Congroo ~ 23:12, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Stacking or Overwriting?[edit]

I see with Superior Rune of Lyssa that Stability from that rune overwrites other sources and vice versa. Activating Signet of Rage and Balanced Stance in any order should give ~13s of Stability (5s from SRoLyssa), but it doesn't. That may or may not be by design, since it IS a very strong boon. Cirian 16:12, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

I think with the October 22, 2012 update, Stability might stack properly now when using SRoLyssa. Can anyone confirm? --192.168.104.83 12:54, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Confirmed using 6 SRoLyssa and Rampage as One - Stability does stack now. --SargonTheOK 21:04, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Icon[edit]

Can someone confirm that the current fist icon is now used for retaliation and stability has a new icon altogether (a column I think)? pling User Pling sig.png 22:30, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

I'm on it. We'll have to find a replaced for Alfa-R in order to get a tango version of the new stability icon, though. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:48, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Yes, Stability is now a column thing and Retaliation is the fist. Just mouse over "Stand Your Ground!". Vili 点 User talk:Vili 23:18, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
I believe the word is "rook". -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 23:29, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
No, a rook is a tower (as in castle), not a column. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:06, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
It appears to be a plinth, which seems like an appropriate image for this power (who's better at standing their ground than a statue!) 75.42.78.162 06:37, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/08/14[edit]

I find stability to be the least equal boon.

I find it insane that all don't have access to the same stability since many of us play solo!

Engi - 10

Warrior - 8

Necro - 7

Ele - 7

Guard - 6

Mesmer - 4

Revenant - 3

Ranger - 3

Thief - 2 at most

This is AWFUL. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.197.141.85 (talk).

If you were leaving feedback in the hopes that ANet would see it, I should point out that they don't regularly browse talk pages on the wiki -- the wiki is maintained entirely by players, so the feedback tab here is really intended for comments on the article itself, rather than the mechanic it documents. I recommend posting your gripes on the official forums instead -- they'll be much more likely to be read by a dev there. :) --Idris (talk) 08:20, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Good catch. I have added them. Thanks for the feedback. Warming Hearth (talk) 09:58, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Herald Profession mechanic refers to Legendary Dragon Stance Consume instead of Legendary Dwarf Stance Consume[edit]

In the section: Profession mechanic skills that grant stability

The following line: Herald icon small.png  One with Nature.png True Nature — Legendary Dragon Stance, Consume

States Legendary Dragon stance consume provides stability. Dwarf consume provides stability. The link is correct to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/True_Nature_(dwarf), but the text is incorrect

True Nature (dwarf) has its skill type labelled as Legendary Dragon which redirects to Legendary Dragon Stance. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:07, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
