Challenge Mode Rewards[edit]

Recently, the drops section I added to Ensolyss of the Endless Torment was moved to Nightmare_Fractal#Challenge_Mode for the reason that Ensolyss does not drop loot, which I can understand. However, I think it'd be more useful to have the individual drops be listed under the individual bosses.

Why does it make sense to list these rewards under individual bosses?
  1. It would enable us to simply add {{dropped by}} to pages like Static Assault Knight Power Core where people have currently added manual descriptions.
  2. The random portion of drop tables may or may not be different for each boss (I don't have enough data to support this).
  3. The individual chests are Event Rewards tied to the defeat of specific bosses (there are 3 bouncy chests total: MAMA, Siax the Corrupted, Ensolyss of the Endless Torment), so I would say there's an argument for this final chest not necessarily being the reward for completing the fractal itself.
    • Presumably so they could implement a daily timegate (it seems compatible with how other timegated drops are doled out).
Alternate Proposal
Create 2 new templates for event rewards/bouncy chests that you don't gain from rummaging around in the still-warm corpses of your enemies
  • rewards to specify what items are rewarded by an event(see Template:Drops):
    "This event rewards this item."
    • {{rewards|Chunk of the Solid Ocean}}
    • {{rewards|Chunk of the Solid Ocean}} (1-2)
    "This event objective rewards this item."
    • {{rewards|Chunk of the Solid Ocean|Defeat Siax the Corrupted}}
    • {{rewards|item=Chunk of the Solid Ocean|objective=Defeat Siax the Corrupted|name=Chunk}}
  • rewarded by to list what events reward this item (see Template:Dropped by):
    {{rewarded by}}
The only other "event" that I can think of that gives chests out in this manner is Spirit Woods (where such chests are omitted entirely).
I was hoping for (but could not find) precedent in either Tequatl or the TD meta.

I believe rewards are shared across the bosses, at least for the most part, so it'd make more sense to list them here. They could *also* be listed at the bosses, I suppose, but as you said the rewards are tied to events and that means reward placement should go here (since we do not make individual event articles for events within instances). No other fractal boss has a list of end chest rewards (and no other fractal has boss-only chests).
As for your alternate proposal, that could and would cover a lot more than just the Nightmare Fractal (ever since S2, events have had a chance of specific or map based rewards) and should be brought up elsewhere, such as Guild Wars 2 Wiki talk:Community portal, where it can get proper attention. I moved because of a technicality, wich is that it doesnt drop loot; if there was something like champion bags (that do drop on champion death), that would definitley belong to the enemy page. Listing the loot on each enemy page would clutter the pages and be unecessarily redundant

PS: and while i know no other fractal has loot pages, i didnt want to just delete everything so i moved the list thereUser Kyx signature Skull.gifKyx 18:59, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

I understood the technicality and I agree that the rewards should only be mastered in one place. I should have used a less literal verb to convey my intent that the rewards should be tied to/associated with a particular boss (or event objective) (in a programmatically usable way). Thank you, Konig, for pointing me towards the community portal.

Verification was requested on if the "Kill Ensolyss" chest awards Ascended boxes. The other rewards in that list are given 100% of the time. I would put any ascended chest drop under the "bonus item" section only, or at least list that it is not guaranteed. The guaranteed "roll" slots are: Integrated Fractal Mtrix, Solid ocean pieces, Pristine Toxic Spores, 1 Ascended Salvage Kit, Fractal Research Page, 2 Pristines, and 100 relics. (or 80, as already defined in the article.) The slot that could contain an ascended weapon could also contain any item already listed in the Bonus section.--Rainspell (talk) 04:13, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Oh, it was me who put it in there. I didn't see the information above it (silly me!). I am removing the information as it is already stated above. The F. Prince (talk) 17:40, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Graphic issues[edit]

We should add a note warning users that using low shaders and high post-processing can cause visual problems in this fractal. In particular low shaders will cause Arkk's shield to appear much more opaque, and high post-processing can cause a visual glitch that makes everything dark and blue in the last shield phase of Ensolyss. I'm not sure what others think, but to me this has always been the case. post-processing has always been a cause of particle-clutter, and shaders settings usually have big environmental changes. This is what the settings are for. To me, it's not note worthy, maybe others will disagree. -Darqam 01:47, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
I'm with Darqam on this one. Graphics are always an issue. Also, it does not affect gameplay too much to note it. User Foxman525 Image-User Foxman525 sig.png Foxman525 01:57, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
EC:The high post processing thing is not a glitch. Go to the toxic spore events in Kessex, Brisban, or Gendarran. Stand in the spores long enough. Same effect. Konig (talk) 02:03, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Ah, so it's intended. Still, I disagree that it doesn't affect gameplay too much. Being able to see what's inside the bubble is quite important if you ask me, so I'd rather put a warning, especially about the shaders. Ganondolf (talk) 15:44, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
It's not that it doesn't affect gameplay per say, of course it does. But shaders and postprocessing has ALWAYS caused drastic changes in what players see in encounters. If you play raids, most arenas/platforms are completely different with shaders on or not. Postprocessing is notorious for increasing particle clutter. If you want to put a note of these things on say the graphical menu interface, then that would seem fine to me; however putting here seems odd since it's just yet another place where this occurs. -Darqam 17:35, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
I understand your point, I just think that this case stands among the others because it's in one of the most challenging fights in the game, and how significant can be the effects of these graphical changes. If it happens in an open world event in Kessex Hills it's no big deal, but in the nightmare fractal it can mean the difference between success and a wipe. Just got a drop of 100 blade Shards, a rare drop probably
