Bug on feathered glider skins - the scout at Shipwreck Peak Waypoint doesn't acknowledge that you're wearing them. Unequip and re-equip and restart the scout's dialogue to fix till a patch.

Proposal for a Glider Gallery[edit]

Could we please have a gallery for the gliders just as we have for weapons? I took a glimpse at the template to get an idea how to approach this, but cannot figure out for the life of me how to work similar magic. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 13:24, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Waved my wand at the page. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:54, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Hurray! Thank you very much. Can you do card tricks, too? User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 19:08, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Revealed[edit]

It should be noted that beginning to and landing from gliding causes the player to be revealed briefly. 98.124.31.73 23:16, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Done. --Idris (talk) 00:48, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Glider Sounds[edit]

So, after some testing...
Hawk, Heart of Thorns, Bat Wings, Phoenix, Soul River, Snowflake, and Basic Gliders.. Make sounds when deployed/while gliding.

I think these notes need to be added to the respective pages.

I can't confirm Crystal Arbiter or Exalted, as I don't own them.

Deathpunkin (talk) 21:38, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Although quite late as an answer I am of the opinion that this is information which is to be added to individual pages not the "Meta-page". Finite | words User Finite Sig.png 06:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Glide at what level?[edit]

Is there a starting lvl that you can learn gliding?

Technically you can glide at level 2 if you have the mastery. If you don't have the mastery, you probably need to be level 80 to get the Mastery as you only get exp for the Gliding Mastery in the HoT maps. - Doodleplex 02:14, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
Another way to be able to glide (unless it has been patched already) is to go to a Guild Hall. I have seen Guild Members of mine who do not even own HoT glide. Finite | words User Finite Sig.png 06:09, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
That was patched ages ago. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 09:51, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Adding some extra data on the list of Glider skins?[edit]

Today I felt like browsing a list of glider skins and found no easy way in the wiki to see the info I was looking for at a glance. I was particularly interested in finding which ones had a matching backpack, if it could be gotten without gems, if they had special sounds, etc. I thought about changing the 'List of glider skins' to a table with this information and some more common things I could think of, but looking at the above response on 'Glider Sounds' maybe this would not be welcome? I personally think this would be the place to add a table like this, and I could do the work, but I thought it better to ask the usual editors here, before doing it. So, would that be ok? Is there another place you think this table should go? Thanks! --KillerRabbit (talk) 23:24, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Split gliders, add no gliding areas?[edit]

Was wondering if they should be split, as Gliding is a game mechanic, and Gliders are objects. Also was wondering if the the list of locations that Gliding Disabled should be moved from there to here as I think it's a bit more useful to readers on this page than on the effects page. - Doodleplex 23:37, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Splitting them seems counterproductive, as that would mean readers don't get to see the full information on gliding (plus, the glider page would either have to be somewhat empty, or mimic a good portion of this page), whereas this page presents them in a neat and succinct format.
I'm also not sure how useful the areas for Gliding Disabled would be - they're at every jumping puzzle and only a handful of other areas; the information is not really crucial to this article, while it is quite fitting for the effect article, imo. —Ventriloquist 00:13, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
Gliding disabled isn't at every jumping puzzles(maybe about half?), but I see the point. Curiosity satisfied, I'll go back to playing with yarn...erm...I mean shared models heh. - Doodleplex 01:19, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Previewing..?[edit]

Am I right in thinking that the only way to preview a glider on your character is IF that glider happens to be in the 'Style' tab of the store..? :(
~Lya

No, you can preview any of the released gliders by going into your Hero panel and navigating to Glider Skins. Also, you can sign your comments by adding four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. —Ventriloquist 16:13, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

How and where do you get access to gliding?[edit]

It seems silly this page does not tell you where to go, who to see, what to do ect ect.

There's a link on the page; https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heart_of_Maguuma_mastery_tracks#Gliding that explains exactly how to unlock Gliding. Do you feel there should be more? Inculpatus cedo (talk) 04:11, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
The second sentence after the introduction reads "Gliders can only be used after learning the Glider Basics mastery...". Could you perhaps elaborate on how it was unclear? —Ventriloquist 12:59, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Gallery on Separate Page[edit]

If the list of gliders is going to keep growing(currently there are 32 gliders), I suggest splitting the gallery portion off to a separate page similar to something like Gallery of back items to make less of a pain to people scrolling down the page. - Doodleplex 00:12, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

That'd be nice, yeah. Linking them with {{main}} should suffice. —Ventriloquist 01:11, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
Okie dokie! - Doodleplex 01:30, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Gliding Skills[edit]

Dragon Surge can be used on the ground and while gliding. Does that count as a gliding skill? Also I think there are some skills that can be used while gliding in Flying Circus but I can't check right now because it's night in VB. -Azurem (talk) 02:10, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

The section's name is literal. Gliding skills aren't skills that can also be used while gliding, but skills that can only be used while gliding. —Ventriloquist 02:19, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/04/11[edit]

Does the list of available Gliders come from an API? I see no way to add new Gliders (like the Super Holo-Copter). Just curious. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 17:37, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Not from the API, no. It's a SMW query that lists all the wiki pages that belong to the category glider skins. It sometimes takes a while or a page refresh or null edit to get the list to update. User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 17:44, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
Oh. No idea what that is, but I guess someone just needs to make the page, then. (Or, already did. Guess I just looked too soon. Lol.) Cool; thanks for the information. =) Inculpatus cedo (talk) 17:47, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Glider Skins?[edit]

OK, suppose I don't yet have glider mastery (or even the non-base GW2 accesses)... can I at least use a "glider skin" gizmo to get it out of my inventory and have it for later when I do get the mastery?
--Obloodyhell (talk) 15:52, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Yes, if you obtain skin for a feature you do not have yet (be it a glider, mount, skiff) you still unlock it permanently for your account and can use it once you can access that feature. ~Sime 16:09, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

Dyeing Glider Skins... How to?[edit]

OK, I have a glider skin -- the Cosmic Surfer which supposedly has four specific dye channels (e.g., exact dye colors). I don't see how to apply the dye? Also, something discussing the concept of "dye channels" would be useful, I haven't been able to find any explanation of it at all. TIA! --Obloodyhell (talk) 23:23, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

The Dye channel goes over how to dye anything in a great detail, and it is mentioned on this page too. Tl:dr open your Hero panel, go to Dyes, select the item you want to dye (not all gliders, for example, are dyeable), and then pick the 1-4 dyes from the left panel as you like. ~Sime 23:29, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Well, the glider in question, the Cosmic Surfer Glider shows up in color in the thumbnail, but shows no sign whatsoever of dyeability when selected. And the article on it says it can expressly be died with up four specific colors, one of which I have. I don't see how to do it with this, as a result. There is no sign of how to dye it... The dye section does not discuss dying gliders at all.

This item can be dyed. It has 4 dye channels. Default dyes: Sky Dye, Recall Dye, Spring Dye, Primrose Dye

This shows where and how to dye gliders: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye#/media/File:Hero_panel_dyes.jpg Inculpatus cedo (talk) 19:26, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks! I could swear it wasn't showing up in my dyes panel, but i suppose i might have missed it. Done.--Obloodyhell (talk) 19:36, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
