Heart of Thorns story[edit]
- Act II
Dialogue[edit]
- In Queensdale
- How can I help you, citizen?
- How are the Seraph holding up?
- Between bandits, centaurs, and standard crime, we're stretched pretty thin. Is there anything else?
- I'd like to ask you something else
- I'll leave you to your duties.
- How bad is the bandit situation?
- We're holding, but I don't have the troops or the resources to launch a strong counterattack. For now, all we can do is hold our ground.
- How can bandits stand up to you? You're the law!
- There are debates going on within the Seraph. It's my belief that the bandits have a backer in Divinity's Reach.
- Who do you suspect?
- They're getting help from someone with a lot of influence. They're organized, well-equipped, and informed. They know things they shouldn't know.
- You're doing the best you can with what you got- which is the mark of a leader.
- Thank you. I wish I could do more. With the centaurs on one side and the bandits on the other, it's all we can do just to keep the peace.
- Can I ask you something else?
- You're a good example to your troops. Stay the course. Good day.
- Maybe you're just getting beat and don't want to admit it.
- Maybe. Do you need anything else? I have duties here, and I'm sure you must be busy.
- Can I ask you something else?
- Don't be so touchy. I'll take care of any bandits I see for you.
- That's not good. Good-bye.
- Good luck.
- Good-bye.
- In Auric Basin, speaking to him for the first time
- If human:
- Lieutenant Francis: You're a sight for sore eyes. or Long time no see.
- <Character name>: Lieutenant, how'd you get here?
- Lieutenant Francis: I left the Seraph and so I could join the Pact. So here I am.
- Lieutenant Francis: Just trying to redeem myself... for past failures.
- Lieutenant Francis: It's a good thing you're here, Commander.
- <Character name>: And what do we have here?
- Lieutenant Francis: It's not good, but we're making do with what we have.
- Lieutenant Francis: Others are patching up soldiers while I lead the recovery.
- Lieutenant Francis: Any assistance would be a great help.
- <Character name>: Looks like you got a good handle on things.
- In Auric Basin, speaking to him again
- Glad to see you, Commander. We've established a safe foothold here, but we're still finding survivors.
- No time to waste. How can I help?
- We're searching the canopy for survivors and hoping to recover supplies that were tossed or fell overboard.
- Impressive encampment. How's morale?
- Credit Ceera for starting the camp. I just help coordinate relief efforts and defense. Trust me, your arrival here has the troops' spirits on the rise.
- One more question.
- Good job, Lieutenant.
- I'd hoped for more survivors.
- There were—most descended the canopy to the east to check out a golden structure. The skritt detachment stayed south with the airship wreck.
- Good to know. Anything to be careful of?
- Hostile Itzel control most of the canopy here, and all types of saurians are roaming the jungle floor. Even worse, we can hear the Mordrem mustering on a regular basis.
- One more question.
- Good job, Lieutenant.
- What have you learned about this region?
- There are huge, aggressive saurians in the area. Our Nuhoch friends speak of shining beings in the jungle who call themselves Exalted, and something called a Vinetooth that even the Exalted fear.
- What do you know about these Exalted?
- It's said they come from a golden city deeper in the jungle. Never seen it or them, myself.
- One more question.
- Good job, Lieutenant.
- Good job, Lieutenant.
